Hi Internet stranger!
Welcome to my Channel ShedTorque N Things ! This is the start of hopefully a long career of make videos. Though this channel is still fairly new I have been on UA-cam for a long time .
For the longest period of time I've sat back and watched others make and grow their YT channels and communities. I know I have something to offer and honestly I'd love to be a part of the maker orientated part of YT. So feel free to subscribe and comment! (sharing the videos helps too!!)
As of now I'm more focused on making good content rather than a fixed schedule of release dates ,everything from a patina paint job through to go kart builds
Thanks for taking time to visit the "About" page become part of the community of Everything Anthony

What year Subaru would you recommend pulling the turbo from?
How long is piece of string, turbo selection depends on gearbox ratio, capacity, driving habbit, it would be hard for me to recommend what is best for your build with so many virables, 👍🙏
Perfect patina mate, well done. So it was a matt black base, cherry red then dust coat of indian red?
Thanks mate, yes and good luck 👍🤞
Hey bro, so I’ve studied you technique and I’ll send you what I came up with. It’s also done in satin clear so it doesn’t look like sH$&@!
Great job...
I totally dig it !!! If I saw you in a parking lot somewhere , I would probably say - Don t do thing to body . It looks GREAT !!! LOL
Thanks mate , glad you can see the diamond in the rough 👍
Looks great. That's the look I'm going for.
Right on!
following..want to do this soon, I have an 01
Good luck , keep me posted on your progress
Great video mate, fits like a glove 👌I've got a zj grand Cherokee with the 4.0L I've been planning turning into a weekender. Definitely gonna have to look into a barra swap.
Thanks mate , it's tight but it does fit with some thought,if i was running a lift kit i'd be able to drop the motor down further without any bonnet mods
I love vw and combis
Good job ❤ regards from Poland 🇵🇱
Thankyou appreciate the support
Far out! Nice job and great video. 💯 Very informative.
Thank you for the support, and positive feedback 👍
Great info building blown 1600 on e85
Thankyou I'm glad it helped you
Great look. Why did you use 2 different reds? Does that create more of the blotchy look. Thanks for the great onfo.
depending on manufacture , they would have a coloured base coat
So i bought a vw 34 pic 3 carb put on my 81 goldwing 1100, and i out turbo on, i set wg to 0psi, but it revs up great untill you try to drive it and starts cutting out, whT coukd be the isse
Hi there , First thing to invest in is a Fuel A/Fr gauge , without it you won't be able to tune , it will show straight up if you have a lean or rich issue . Boost pressure is a measurement of accumulation , even at "0 " pressure you can still have increased efficiency air through the manifold ......
Awesome video. I’m following this for my turbo build using an EMPI. I was wondering about the other extraneous brass vent tubes around the carb body. Should they be plugged as well?
Hi there , any tube not being used should be plugged to stop boost leaks
I'm thinking how good that would look now with a coat of clear 😍
the 34 PICT would be an ideal carb for blow thru with a 670cc Predator...
I love this! Hand scalloped would next level this paint job ❤
Did you use stock 26mm venturi?
Sorry for the late reply , everything is stock
How long does it take to dry?
Depends on the weather , usually within a few hours with hevay coats
@@shedtorquenthings633 I tried using 50/50 boiled linseed and mineral spirits, never really dried and left a tacky surface
This does , I always give it coat just before winter to protect , it may take longer on cold days , certainly dry the next morning to touch
These videos are great Thanks
Glad you like them!
The vacuum is still present from the vacuum port. It's just below the Ventura and isn't effected by the turbo boost. Below the thottle plates is effected .
Hallo from the U.K. Would this work with a blower too? amr300. Thanks Grant
Ignition timing yes , carby would stay the same jetted up for your application
I may have missed it, but what did you use to get the dull paint effect?
wet and dry sand paper removes the gloss
@@shedtorquenthings633 Thanks
He’s going for the “Mexican” look today lol
So if I have a vacuum advance only does that mean that I can run a regular distributor and if so would I plumb the vacuum line pre turbo or after the turbo
You can run a regular distributor with locked weights , as soon as the vacuum line see's no vacuum it would have no effect on timing , as there will be a base value locked , hose postion is the same as stock
The vacuum port is just below the Ventura and will not be effected by turbo boost.
This is a great video much appreciated for your years of wisdom 🤙
Glad it was helpful!
Does this also apply to super chargers?
I would always run a carby before the supercharger
Draw through from carb into the turbo. Instead of pushing the turbo into the carb. You get a cold charge , and it doesn't effect pressures into the carb.
Each system has it pro's and cons, it depends on your budget
@@shedtorquenthings633 in my experience, off idle when you do a hard blip on the throttle of a draw through set up, it's generally very choppy in comparison to a blow through. To me blow through's are smoother to drive on a normal street VW. It also allows you to install an air to air or water to air IC. On draw through you'd have to do a water/alky and/or e85 to make it have NA intake charge temps. This is very informative even for the experienced gear hear/mechanic. The 1st set up I did was a draw through with a Holly progressive carb on a bone stock 1600. So fun to drive. On the freeway it was peppy like a mild 1776.
💯👍🏾💯 AWESOME
Thank you! Cheers!
Hello from France! Good job! I’m boosting a vw mk2 golf , i have a solex 34pict5 and a gti électronic ignition , it’s possible to pute an assymetric regulator for fuel/air ratio with the solex carb?
you should be able to get correct AFR's with the emulsion tube
Well I think it looks FUCKIN AWESOME !!!!!!!!
Thanks Mate appreciate your comments
Hi Andy, your car looks awesome...tap your knowledge Mate, I've got a 56 Oval which I've had 25yrs.. original owner had a accident where front apron was hit...when it was repaired it had black paint sprayed under bonnet, I want to remove it down to original without damaging original paint.... spent a fair bit of time with that silver cleaner Silvo..couldn't find any brasso at the moment...think Silvo is more chemical than a cutting compound ..will look and try with brasso as I think maybe more of a cutting compound....any suggestions ?... I know a lot of elbow grease but if there's a easier way I'm up for it.....work smart not hard 😜
If it was my car I would use 800/1000 wet and dry sandpaper and remove the layers, being a metalic silver it should have a clearcoat , you can reapply clear over the top once the base coat is exposed
Gday mate, how long will it last ?
I give it coat every 6mths, usually 1st coat before winter
How is the maximum ignition timing for 1 bar ( 14psi ) of boost on 1600cc ( all oem engine ) VW bug ?
depends on your boost curve and dynamic compression , 18-21 deg to start with should be safe
I've got an 86 liteace 4x4 that someone's done a homejob matt olive green paint job on, has a few rust holes etc, meant to be an entry camper for me. Was looking for a method to gloss it a tiny bit and preserve the patina, I'm not worried about its current rust but definitely want to stop it getting worse so I think I'm gonna give this method a go! Cheers
Nathan , just remember you will need to reapply every 6mths as the product is exposed to the suns UV , good luck
Wonderful. Just what I like
Glad you like it!
if i was to turbo my 1969 1600cc beetle would draw through or blow through be better and if its draw through would i have to get a bigger carby?
Depends on what turbo you decide to use, one will require a positive seal (carbon) and the other won't , In most low boost set up's you will get away using the 34pict carby jet up..
I love it! Great job!
Thankyou , I appreciate your time to comment
How did you get that finish? Did u do the linseed oil trick?? Looks good, Cheers.
No linseed oil , enamel paint sealed with Penetrol
Very cool California style ❤️
Thanks mate :)
what paint did you use in the sprayer?
enamel paint
Bravo! Looks great. You have inspired many ideas.
Awesome! Thank you!
Goddamn love a surprise. An aussie with a Combi!!! Legend.
Thanks buddy you made it simple I appreciate your video
Glad it helped
Are the any benefits to doing this on an N/A motor?
no benfits to N/a unless your using NOS , ignition curve / advance is needed on a N/a motor to help reduce temps , under boost it's not needed as the ignition needs more time to light off and burn
This is great information which I've never seen before, and thank you for it. I'm thinking about using twin 34-PICTs on a Type III, and adding boost. Do you think that might help overcome some of the single carb limitations and still remain a budget build? Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Planning the same but onna 1.7 type 4. Twin carbs. Twin turbo. For a cheap as possible
Thinking of doing the same to a type4 1.7. Twin carbs twin small turbo 🤔
This looks awesome. I’m in the same boat as you. I think it gives it character. It looks awesome. I wonder if that would work in reverse with black as the top coat and red underneath.
Thanks Mate appreciate the encouragement
Looks good mate. I have a Mercury Montego in the USA that’s been badly painted. Think I might give this a shot. Did you put any clear coat on when you were happy with it?? Thanks
I was happy with it as is , occasionally i add a little penatrol to protect it over winter
Try adding a extension to the fuel bowl vent up into the boost pipe, brings enrichment on a little quicker
There is another way, increase enrichment by changing your emulsion tube bleed does the same thing
