11 Year Old Violin Prodigy Chuanyun Li(李传韵) Plays Bach and Paganini - 1991 Wieniawski Competition
In 1991, at age 11, by the unanimous vote of 20 judges from 11 countries, Chuanyun Li(李传韵) won the first prize in the Fifth Wieniawski International Youth Violin Competition, making him the youngest prizewinner under the age of 16 and gaining for him the accolade of being a remarkable talent.

Him : i already practiced my violin today, next practice was paganini (not even minded for being a world class violinist) His mother : Li, you're genius!!! Talented, you need to join wienieawski competition! Him : (a bit disturbed) no mom, i'm just a little violinist, i'm not the best... My playings (i think) were so usual. I mean, PAGANINI, WIENIEAWSKI, BAZZINI, OR TARTINI. his mom : pure genius 🥲🙏 Paganini : devil, why do you let me looking at this Genius before my death?? I need his advices and there's no time left for me. I'll being unpeace in my grave Bach : i'm proud of you, later please use more phrasing okay (i'm sure y'all know how does his playing style today, especially his nel cor piu non mi sento 😭😎)

Too rushed and there is no dynamic contrast or feel for the style,But at least he is playing in tune!
You can tell with the bow length variations and still 0 dynamic captured is likely due to the poor recording. If you record with the built-in mic of a camcorder in a relatively small room, this is what happens. I don't believe the actual playing sounds like that at all. As for style, that's preference. People play Bach quite differently over 20 years ago.
it's not about dynamics, it's about a 11 year old being more than you mundane people can ever dream to become. the 20 second applause proves that i am right.

@ 3:40 he was almost into a slow-motion train wreck but pulled it back on the tracks quick! Why is he not the superstar he is supposed to be?...... perhaps because there are thousands of other violinists in China who can do back-flips while playing just as well....joking!..... because the music-world is cruel.
He became quite crazy when he grow up, you can search his name... Still a genius though.

He is a genius. I met him at his grandmother's place when he was 6 years old. He was very talented as a little boy. Both of his parents were violinist. His grandma were teaching piano.
This performance is good. But recent ones are lousy... no music clarity and all played in a rush... Probably bored of playing violin or something...
I just saw him perform a few days ago... definitely an uncouth performance, whether his excuses from the stage (broken hand, girlfriend with cancer, etc) were real or not (probably half-truths, in addition to his being more than a little tipsy). To me he just seems bored with all music now, and just plays around with whatever concerto and group he's performing with, acting crazed so Chinese audiences eat up his fame even more
I think he over-indulged as he got older, seeing as he had that much talent. D: I really love his playing in this though.
