My thoughts exactly. I do read them via ebooks first. Then, purchase the physical copy of it. It's like rewatching your favorite shows. Which shows and movies are initially novels first.

I think we all need to hear the year of no and looking forward to 2025 as a year of success. A lot of me and my fellow author friends are feeling so down with how 2024 has gone. Need to look forward with hope and excitement really help this year help us find joy.

I worked as a professional editor in trad pub for a small press. As far as the trad side of things, Midlist author means any author who is not a debut author that is not a household name but who still breaks even (on our end as the publisher, not required for them to sell out advances) at least 3/4 of their titles. -- The term comes from our backlist and frontlist, you're in the middle of that list. If you are debut you're at the bottom, if you're a household name you're at the top.

Amazon moves soooo slowly. I've been waiting a decade for them to roll out paperback pre-orders. I genuinely feel like TikTok Shop/Amazon integration will happen after TikTok peaks/becomes Facebook.

If you are in the editor part of TikTok, cuz you filmed in app, you can hit the Save icon before moving from editing to the posting phase and it'll download with NO watermark nor state any filters used

I love Valentine PR, I've only worked with them on the reviewer/poster end but they do amazing graphics and make the cross posting processing really easy.

So I gave up FB about five years ago, then decided a few weeks ago to get back into the market place to buy and sell. I signed up and immediately they wanted a selfie, NOPE not doing any biometrics and won't do business with anyone who makes that a mandatory criteria. Craigslist it is for me!!!

tiktok may be bringing that back. if you look at booktok and all the people who have pretty book covers displayed on their bookcases, i think book covers still have a major influence. but i think that’s also specific to fantasy, romance, and pnr, etc. but then again you still need tiktok to market that cover so what you said still applies 😂

I love this because it helps out so many industries! My friend is a game dev and over there almost everyone had to sign a non-compete. Now, he no longer has to stress out because getting fired is not career ending anymore.

I read two of her books and fell in love with her writing.

As a person that goes to comic cons pretty regularly, this whole situation has made me incredibly curious to check out some author/signing cons in my area cuz I think it would be really cool. ❤ I usually end up getting clocked in "book alley" at comic cons pretty quickly anyway 😂

Your programs look great. They are simply unaffordable. Too many of us can’t drop the work that keeps the lights on. As a matter of principle, I won’t spend $$ in Texas.

They aren’t needed at those points though. It’s established well enough that it’s not needed. It’s pissing money away just like this comment.

I do agree with Ines in that anything that breaks down a barrier and allows more people to do it (which is what indie publishing has done for the gate-keeping publishing industry), but I cringed at the 40% royalty. What a hit! I know that when I have enough money to invest in human narration, I will be excited to do so!
