Did a three year apprenticeship in the Fur union in 1977 and became a flesher,Then in 1984 I opened up my own processing factory with 80 employees,by 1999 the whole fur industry was gone to china . Trump was 30 years to late. And previous Presidents were all traders for American industry.
Would you recommend to to buy an extra blade with your first fleshed think I’m going to buy the Dakota IV 6” I do several wall hangers for people, tanning mostly but thinning out them coyotes sure to make all the difference in a professional grade tanned hide and a amateur they gotta be thin to be soft as most people think they would be
That is in my opinion the only way to get s perfect tanned hide is by fleshing with a machine then put it into the pickle a couple days then pull it out while its swollen up good and shave again and then go right back into the pickle for another couple of days and really let the pickle soak in and open up al the pores so when put into the tanning solution it can take the fullest best tan possible. Especially on bigger hides like deer and beaver. I really want a fleshing machine very bad also I love tanning furs and I have had very many great comments on my final pieces buy the fleshing machine is my missing link.Where can I look online to purchase one or even better a used one that way I don't have to shell out full price for one?
Please do a Video on changing out the blades.I have a Dakota IV Flesher and it has 4 screws but I can't seem to get it apart.Looks like it would be easy!! Great vids thanks!!
I didn't mean for commercial taxidermist, I mean people at home. I probably should've specified that. I apologize. You're right, commercial taxidermist should definitively pursue the faster tool.
why? why bust ass? the point of commercial taxidermy is speed and quality. a thin hide the quickest way possible is the best for making money. spending 50 hours on each hide would break most taxidermists. i just got a dakota 5 and a dakota 4. i have been using a hand held air fleasher.
Not to knock the vid (it was great), but I personally believe it's much more sensible to buy the knife/tool (I forget its name) for fleshing by hand. Nice workout and is much less expensive. Just my opinion. Not trying to hate.
Did you say motor oil ? What type exactly? Thank you
