Took me back to being a kid,I grew up Newton farm, the fields and woods around were my playground. The bottom of my garden was just country side, now houses have taken the field where horses once ran free. The old oak tree still stands last time i looked couple of years or so. There was two ,now it is surounded by houses ,and they have planted many more trees which now hide it a bit. Creating a big park which kind of compensates for all the houses ,my brother was killed in the construction of the park football fields ,i gues most people will not know that. Or have forgotten. It was 1988. I remember Belmont pub, that railway bridge, grafton lane and callow area. The best of times back then. I'm on the other side of the river now a days. I feel it when ever I do come over it never leaves you. Shall take a trip over again sometime this year. Great to see this. Thanks Keith 😊👍

@@WyeExplorer yes my younger brother was in an accident,he fell under the wheel of a huge earth levelling machine that was creating the football pitches that are there today, boys being boys playing his mates ,he was a dare devil. But never really got told what actually happened, people clamped up and would not talk. His mates were traumatised and would not say. Up until today. Probably will never get the full story. Those fields were wild , our playground with free roaming horses and nature before the council built houses then turned the land into the park it is today. Oh well that's life. Thanks for sharing 😊👍

It's the fields and woods at the very top of Newtown farm. Some of those big old trees were there when I was a little kid, I recognized the Scots pine at the beginning. My garden backed on to country side,as kids it was our playground. Before they built more House's behind our house. The new House's are part of grosmont grove now I think. The big old oak tree is still there I think, surrounded by younger taller trees now. Planted after ,They built football pitches and levelled the fields. My brother was killed when they were levelling the ground for those pitches, him and his mate's were playing around the big machine levelling the fields, he fell under it and was crushed. This was in 1988. I have lots of memories of the Newtown farm and south side areas. I no longer live that side of Hereford. It's been a while since I've been up there. I think I will sometime soon now. Cheers 😊
