I work at Volkswagen and I massively enjoy filming mechanical videos and breaking down fault finding just for the enjoyment of my viewers and not forgetting the home mechanic who maybe stuck on a certain fault which one of my videos could reach and help out which is of course my ultimate goal :)

VW Navigation Out Of Date? You Need This!!
Crusty a/f! Pfffft you want to see that kind of thing on cars in NE Scotland
I can only go by what we see in east mids
Hi, when to change coolant and gear oil in manual vw tsi 1.0 engine
You would need to speak to your local service centre for exact scheduling
@@TheVWMechanic_official they said it's for lifetime and just need to top up coolant
@nsingh-io1uk that’s what the brand recommends then buddy
@@TheVWMechanic_official how is that possible i mean gear oil also lost its viscosity?
@nsingh-io1uk I can’t give you a different answer to the brand as that’s the schedule you can change your gear oil when you like but there is no set point for it
Can you please fix this for me. I can bring car over?
Not something I can do at the moment buddy due to time constraints
I think i miss something 😅 what’s the issue than if you got a power at the end ?
If you’ve got everything working upto the consumer including all the switching voltages signals and earth and the correct amount of voltage then it can only be the consumer in this case the horn unit
@ thanks for reply, can you tell me if 1 horn is faulty , will automatically second one won’t work when i press on steering wheel ? ( i mean if one can’t work without other ) as one horn work perfectly on the bench . Also if relays making clicking noise while tested on the bench can it be still faulty or to weak and that can cause problem ? Sorry i was doing some of the tests around year ago and don’t remember exactly if i was testing second horn on the bench etc , also when i was doing a test with computer to test horn like you did it didn’t make any sound but don’t remember if i was checking if i got power at the end like you did
@quattro4944 usually they are low and high tone horns buddy and can work separately from each other so if one goes down you’ve still got something there to use
@ thanks i will double check if i got power at the second end when press horn to be sure than i will try to dig some more if i do .. Have to fix it as every year got to fit directly to the horn with a separate button to pass mot ..
@quattro4944 I know what ya mean matey yeah
My Golf 1.5 tsi made this noise. Went out and popped the hood, right after watching this video. It had this broken tube. I fixed it temporarily with vulcanising tape. But is there an official spare part? Cant find one.
Thank you by the way
Yeah buddy the spare part is the replacement pipe known as n80 pipe
Thank u so much sir. No more stress!!
Your welcome 🤗
Lol this clip fixed the issue from another clip that I've watched 1 month ago where they scrapped entire 50 000 km 1.4 TSI engine because of this noise. Too bad they didn't found your video 😄
Sucks to be them haha but your the winner here thanks for the comment 🫶🫶
Dude, today everything is self adjusting, everything made after 1925 🤣🤣, dont believe all things on the internet , the spring pulls a triangle down, as u press the brakes it wedges down and adjusts the brake. Nothing to adjust here, or anywhere, for that mater .
Haha if you believe self adjusting is worth it then you must enjoy oil for life components
Hi mate. Have you dealt jammed sunroof before? On a Tiguan. I’ve got an 08 plate and the RHS is jamming.
Yeah buddy I usually start with opening it up as wide as I can and then cleaning thoroughly all the mechanism and runners then greasing them then carrying out basic settings
@ hi mate, thanks for getting back. Unfortunately I think I ruined it. I think I’d need to remove the whole brackets and replace them, but I’m not just sure how I could do that. If you have to remove ten rear glass or do it from the front. I manage to eventually get it closed and just thought I’ll have to cut my losses. Even though I freed them the right would still jam and send them out a sync even for a second after realignment and resetting and turning to the open position
Whet a huge oversight not putting a drain into that area, good one vag ya dodos. Thanks for the video, I came looking for a way to let some pressure out for my subs to sound better with it completely sealed, I'm going to add some PA speaker rain guard to it and possibly remove one of these to allow more pressure out, don't want more road noise though so see how I go lol. 😊
You know it matey and keep me posted on what your doing and if you achieve what your after buddy I’m always interested in how people tweak their cars for personal preference
In my polo tsi 1.0 the coolant is bowling from first day, i have seen in some other tsi 1.0 engine the coolant is blowing in coolant bottle, i want to know that is it normal? The coolant temperature is perfectly normal 90 in display
Coolant shouldn’t be coming out of the coolant bottle with the lid on at all unless there is an issue
@@TheVWMechanic_official no it's not coming out i can see just bubbles in coolant bottle
There won’t be bubbles as such it will just be movement of coolant in the tank
@@TheVWMechanic_official yes but i can hear the boiling sound
How often should this be replaced? Cheers
4 years or 80k is my personal advice
@TheVWMechanic_official thanks mate
thank you!
Your absolutely welcome have a great weekend :)
Und der Rest vom Generator ist alt....!
Yeh it’s not broke why replace it?
Hello Sir How can I Contact you

The place is falling apart mate
Great video mate. I noticed the gateway module was not communicating, would that be a cause for a lot of the modules being in red ? , as I said great video and happy new year.
Thankyou buddy and everything was communicating on this car buddy but it had a lot of faults in the memory that I had to work my way thru happy new year to yourself and family too :)
If it’s a clutch pulley and you block the stator then it should only turn one way if it’s a solid pulley and you block the stator then it won’t move at all
Hello. I have a Skoda Kamiq 1.5 TSI 2022 with 25,000 km and when accelerating it makes strange sounds, something like rattling, wheezing. When I add gas at a standstill it is not audible, only when driving under load. Service cannot diagnose it. Have you had anything like this before? Best regards
I will add that when I give it gas it won't let you hear it. I even lifted the front of the car and after switching to drive it wasn't audible only under load.
I’ll reply on the other comment
I may well of had this issue before but without being able to inspect the vehicle and test and diagnose it could be a needle in a hay stack
I finally got back to the gym about a month ago. It feels great. But it's tough when we worked 70hr week's for about 4 months. Only time to eat, work and sleep
Keep going buddy 💪
Get in! 😊
💪💪 boom haha
Guys, it’s not better. You’ve already paid for heated seats in the standard price for the car. They haven’t given you the hardware built into the seats for free, just to charge you a subscription! I understand you may only use the heated seats for a few months, but I’d want to have the adaptive climate control. I’m put off buying a Golf for these subscriptions.
I have to say I’m not a mad fan off the subs and your right in what you say the capabilities for all these tricks were not fitted at factory with no cost to the consumer
Thank you so much, @TheVWMechanic_official! You've truly saved my life! 😊 I recently bought a used Tiguan and discovered it has this strange noise you mentioned in your video. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find the reference part here in France. Would you kindly share a link where I can purchase it? I would be incredibly grateful. Thank you again for your amazing content and help!
Good info, thanks for getting me thinking about the seals. My HCU is leaking fluid. Is this from bad/seized valve seals? Im hoping thats the easy fix since it'll otherwise take a rebuild. ua-cam.com/video/N65rvtdkVmY/v-deo.html
That could well be seal failure buddy
I removed the silica bag from the coolant reservoir ages ago, it’s been 2 years since I had the coolant changed, is this something you would recommend having done at the next service? I seen people saying it’s not good for the egr valve and other parts of the engine. Thanks
Me personally matey would advise a coolant change on every major service can’t go wrong then :)
@@TheVWMechanic_official thanks for the advice 🫡
Your absolutely welcome buddy 🥰
What is this hose for?
Fuel vapour ventilation
@@TheVWMechanic_official so if this hose is leaking like in the video is it dangerous? Can catch fire?
You shouldn’t leave it to leak at all buddy it needs fixing immediately
Need this doing on my 2014 GTD 😢
It’s easy enough to do yourself aslong as you’ve got a bit of tooling and some patience 😊
@TheVWMechanic_official Is it possible without software then? Cheers
It’s possible yeah but not ideal mate
I have 2011 VW TDi , with faulty ABS module . How to remove it ? Seems impossible from top , not enough room. Any help would be greatly appreciated . Thanks!
If your not sure what your doing buddy I would leave the braking system well alone
@@TheVWMechanic_official Any tips on removing and reprogramming. I have always serviced my vehicles myself , from oil change to transmission rebuild /repair .Many thanks for considering my request.
I believe I have the same error on my polo TSI 2013 model .. the car is stuck on gear P if you try to start the car it doesn’t start.. the dashboard indicates >>>P/N and “P”flashing down at the gear lever indicator.. I so hate DSG now so miserable these problems don’t stop 😒😒 please help
The problem on your polo is not this issue as this issue doesn’t cause any gear change issues you seem to be experiencing actual gearbox issues
Is this a golf R? Do they put the DCC option through this as well?
Nah this isn’t a R buddy it’s a LIFE
@@TheVWMechanic_official Thanks for letting me know :)
Your more than welcome buddy
Nice one Bud thanks for all your efforts over the year very much appreciated. All the best for 2025 keep em coming 👌
Thankyou so much matey your a legend have a fantastic start to 2025 I won’t be going anywhere :)
Last time we purchased one of them head units it was £1200+vat 😳
about £1000 plus vat now
@@TheVWMechanic_official With sales cars and retail customers that don’t have a warranty we send them to a company for repair it’s only about £100 👍
Yeh I’ve been approached by a company that offer that service since uploading this video matey so keep peeled for a potential mention of them moving forward
Is a new unit plug and play or does it need coded?
Needs to be coded buddy and will usually have a feature called component protection that will need adapting with Odis
You can literally buy the option for like £330 though. So it doesn’t have to be a subscription. Most people spec cars poorly and lease them/PCP and trade on so there’s loads of poorly specced cars on the road. Here, you’d just have to buy the option as you would from factory. I don’t see the issue. Pay £330 from new and have heated seats from the factory or pay £330 ten years later for a car that didn’t have them specced from the factory… This way people buying second hand cars can have all the options without having to spend thousands in depreciation, I think the only people annoyed are the ones buying these brand new cars on PCP/lease deals where they can’t afford the car and definitely none of the nicer spec options 😂
I like to see what everyone’s opinions out there
In my 2003 volvo i just hit a button and my seats are nice n cozy within minutes! Jokes aside though i think volvo did actually trial this and it backfired on them and they ended up not doing it... although iirc I think ive heard theyre thinking of doing it again if not already doing it? (Anyone feel free correct me if im wrong) I think this is outrageous and should be illegal... this is like buying a house and paying a subscription fee to be able to lock your doors or buying a car and you need to pay a subscription for the airbags or rear seatbelts to not lock up.. ridiculous. The car comes with the items but you cant use them?!
Unfortunately it seems the way the world is going now
You don't show where the resistor is you just cut to you having it. I can't find mine
What car do you have?
Common on the new Tiguan 2018+
What fault ain’t common on the newer tiguans 😂
Surely a mechanic would be able to modify the infotainment system to unlock these "features" ?
yes but u wwoill lose ur garantee
not really. these require communication with VW servers with a bunch of "true" or "false" checks. "if payment_recieved = true then activate [seats]", etc,.
Very tru this comment everything goes thru vw servers
@@de_stroyed Yes youre right, but disconnect the internet and modify the software and these checks wont go through right ? Its a lot of complicated stuff, but Im sure something can be done
@ I doubt it, if there's no internet connection, it can't validate if you have the subscription. they lock this stuff down really hard.
Me, just about to buy an old Land Rover Series 3....."you guys get heated seats? lol No way in the world would I pay for that.
Stick to the old land rovers haha and yeh I haven’t paid for it either just a free trial but I’ll be doing some digging to see how to get round it ;)
cant wait for cars to have a £1500/week subscription for the infotainment
Let’s hope it doesn’t come to this
Well this wouldnt be the first time i think bmw tried to it kinda backfired. But know theres a little standard the idea behind is if you bought the car second hand or new and wanted to get some extra features you cant afford at the giving type you could buy it. Also the resell value can be higher. (About the last part this was the explanation about a company why they sell automatic light assistant).
There’s absolutely method in the madness it just doesn’t sit to well with the consumer
I have a cupra formentor 2023 the only thing i pay for is the for cupra connect for online traffic Updates. (The "old" modell) The other thing i could do is data plan. Nothing more, one thing i would buy if possible would be an Travel Assist XL Upgrade but not possible.
Ah I see
Be interesting to see what will happen years down the line when the service hosting this subscription service closes down... cars will essentially become a rolling brick. Also be interested to see if this can be coded in/out and bypass the requirement to pay for things already installed on the car.
Anything changes I’ll keep the channel updated matey
If this subscription crap carries on we're gonna end up with A/C subscriptions because you live somewhere cold Either the manufacturer puts the feature in and enables it by default or doesn't get fitted at all NO DISCUSSION!!
It’s being slotted in right under peoples noses buddy
Doesn't seem too bad to be honest. The Winter pack is £485 for the heated seats (although that includes the rear seats, not sure if the subscription does too). So actually, £330 to unlock it permenantly afterwards is ok. Also, if your building the car and the price is approaching the £40k mark then it would make sense not to order heated seats new, to keep under that trigger for the luxury car tax, and then just buy it later. At what looks to be a cheaper price too. And if your buyuing second hand, and the orioginal owner didn't spec it from new, at least the option is there. And I guess at some point, some clever people will figure out how to circumvent the subscription stuff, and just get all that stuff enabled.
Very true matey and nah it’s just the front seats that it unlocks
It's okay if it sticks with the car when you sell it.
I refuse to buy a new car, and I'd rather not drive at all than deal with this if all the older cars were gone or made illegal to drive!
Your not the only person to be saying and thinking this
Subscribing to things (heated seats and air care climate) that were fitted as standard to fairly normal Golfs more than 10 years ago is crazy!
My thoughts exactly buddy
My Touareg V6 from 2007 has all these features for free, heating seats, heating mirrors and heating steering wheel. She drives perfect, still maintained at VW and is a superb 4x4, the engine is a monster. The only thing that i had to replace in 5 years is the turbo actuator which was burnt suddenly
These are the kind of comments we love to see when cars were cars and built better 🤙
Is that bag only for G13 coolant, or for G12Evo, too ? My Octavia 5E is from 2018 and i have that bag removed, but dont know, what coolant in my car is.
Moving forward buddy I would change your coolant when due with g12 evo as that’s the latest one
On a work truck/car, i would try to repair it. On a sports car thats going to get hammered, no way on earth would i repair it. The last thing you need at 160 is that tire to fail.
Unfortunately I have British standards to adhere to and also a duty of care so it’s replace every time for a puncture like this but I always say the customer can say no and take their car away
@TheVWMechanic_official You definitely have to protect your business and yourself first. I completely understand.
:) I appreciate your comments buddy
What model of golf is this?
8.5 buddy
