The video in which I kind of razz Regal Mall of Georgia for being kind of outdated. The IMAX was lovely though.

Russell House Theater - August 2022

Russell House Theater on the University of South Carolina campus. I did confirm after filming that they do host regular film screenings during the semester. Additional sentimental moment at closing as this is the last Columbia, SC theater that is open and I have access to. The series will live on as I travel though. Thank you for watching.

The Monetta Drive-In reopened in 1999 as The Big Mo after being closed since 1986. My granddad, Uncle, and I drove out during the day and took some footage. It has come a long way in remodels and additions in the ensuing 23 years.

Monetta Drive In (The Big Mo) - 9-22-20 - Party Hard World Premiere
From the Star Wars era - when Star Wars would be shown at multiple theatres for *years* - to the late 80s, Augusta had... 10+ theatres? It's sad they've gone away for just a couple of mega stadium seating places. 2001 on the huge Cinemascope screen at National Hills, by myself as a kid in the early 80s, was a great experience.... Columbia Square - Saw Star Wars there 6-7+ times, Alien, Cannonball Run.. (Orange clay Bmx jumps in back....) Peach Orchard - saw Star Wars opening night, 4+ more times, Logan's Run The Other South Augusta theatre Hilltop Drive In (saw Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Star Wars?) Sam Soloman shopping center August West Parkway National Hills - 2001 release, Star Wars 5+ times, South Augusta Drive in Regency Mall (,in the mall, not this one: saw Empire Strikes Back, Jedi, Dune, Pink Floyd Plays Pompei, high-school Rocky Horror nights... ) Modjeska Imperial - saw Tora, Tora, Tora there as a tyke... ...Forgetting a few. Movies hit differently before Netflix. Advertisements 8n the newspaper was how you knew where and when to go. Somewhere at my father's house I have a clipbook of most newspaper Star Wars ads; all different, for years, trying to get you to go to a different theater to see it, always playing at nearly every place most nights. A more surreal, reality-escapist activity back then....
What playing this week
Th e area where the sound system is was seating for vip
All the fountains and brick work and parking in the center of broadstreet i helped build in 77 and 78 i was 24 years old im now 72
the real IMAX screen
@@Jadenrentas I've been to a couple of larger ones since I took this video, but it still is impressive.
I love that theater
Oh yeah I remember the centuries all so well damn good machines along with the simplex
This brings me back a lot of memories I was a film projectionist for 20 years Union for Pacific theaters
Glad to see the Miller restored mostly to it's original art deco style. Last time I was there was in the late 70s and saw Rocky 2.
So different compared to current operations. great to see this history/.
When I was living in Gurnee,Illinois there was one that was close to me near Lakehurst Mall. I used to go to it and the Marcus theater in the 90’s. I remembered General Cinema was being remodeled in early 1986.
This is awesome.
im gonna miss this place
Is there a plan for the building?
@@marsman57 i heard they're turning it into a church
@7:06 "are you recording me?".....no kid, you're not that important lol. Very odd thing to hear these days when cameras are EVERYWHERE.
Lol the funny thing is that I didn't even hear him say it in the moment (I would have paused and replied otherwise probably) I had a manager hassle me for recording employees working once. It was just incidental to the shot.
This Movie theater is still open to this day, I came here last month to watch Kung fu panda 4
4:47 Who made it?
14:04 Young man "mean mugging" customers to make sure they don't try funny business in the theater.
I swear this was the same layout as The Lakehurst mall General Cinemas. I went there all the time in the early 90s
Talk to someone about fixing it that was my favorite
Great video, love these classic theater tours
I LOVE GENERAL CINEMA ‼️ 🔵 G C C
this was nice to see. The Victoria 5 is always nice to see running.
The AMC in Westshore Plaza in Tampa has their entrance off the 3rd floor of the parking garage. There was a Regal at the Citrus Park mall which was a double decker theater. 10 auditoriums on the 1st floor & another 10 on the 2nd floor. That Regal closed in June because the mall doubled their rent.
And The Super Mario Bros Movie? 🍄⭐🏵️🍁👲👸🔥🐢🦖🥚🦍🏰🏎️
I have a feeling this is going to be nostalgic to some people in like 30 years
I started the video series after posting a video my granddad took in the 90s and seeing everyone going crazy with nostalgia. So I sure hope so!
@@marsman57 I hope so too! keep up with the great videos :)
I Love Movie Theater to See All Those Movies 🍿🥤🎥
4:51 Im Fred-xicted for that movie
De lujo felicitaciones
I WENT THERE
Thank you for this. I'm an Augusta area native, and I saw so many movies in both of these theaters. I remember when they built the 8-screen General Cinemas behind the Regency Mall in the late 80s, back when Gordon Highway was still a bustling thoroughfare instead of the desolate strip of highway it currently is. It was my family's default theater for pretty much all of the 90s, though we did see quite a few movies at Masters Cinema and the old Augusta West Regal (the one before the current one at the Augusta Exchange). I even went to the Regency Exchange 8 on my first date back in 1999 (we watched Varsity Blues). Those old General Cinemas clips for the coming attractions and feature presentation (esp. the candy & drinks in space) will be stuck in my head forever. It's sad that these places that I have so many memories of no longer exist. The Regency 8 was demolished a few years back and the long-abandoned Regency Mall looks like it's being gutted. Augusta has changed so much since my childhood. I'm glad some people actually took the time to document some of these places so we can relive those memories.
Yeah! I don't have videos of those other locations, but remember them well. I take time to document current theaters for when they are gone someday
I remember visiting this theater (We saw the "Quick and the Dead" movie if I remember right) and mall in 1995 when I was stationed at the nearby Army base........The mall looked like it was outdated then even in the mid-90s......
4:52 fnaf
Imagine if they showed The Loud House Movie in there, then it would REALLY be the Nickelodeon theater.
OMG That mall is so beautiful. I love its aesthetics I hope it doesn't upgrade to make it look boring like modern malls look today. I love the colors and the Theater is Peak 2000s and I would love it to stay like that :)
holy cinema

That IMAX screen looks pretty cool was the quality good
Yes!
I kind of like the theater but it does need some updating. And you're right about the IMAX.
I have a history of being scathing towards broken neon. It's my pet peeve 😂
What’s your opinion on IMAX with Dual Laser/Single Laser?
And does Regal Hacienda Crossings have IMAX with Laser for Oppenheimer while playing in 15/70mm version on July 21, to September 2023?
Dfffdofjo
Grdopfdrffffeffd gracias chadrdd
This place reminds me of two cinemas. The foyer and auditoriums remind me of Hoyts at Northland, Australia, especially with the escalators to go up to the upper level and the ramps to the front of the cinema. But the outdated signs and tacky signs remind me of United Cinemas Cragieburn, Australia which is commonly regarded as Australia's worst cinema... We have one imax screen in my city and it's the 2nd largest screen on earth.
Which IMAX is that?

He sounds like Mr. Garrison from South Park. Good to see the mall is still doing okay. So many malls are dead or dying. Wish it had a DXL so I wouldn’t have to drive all the way out to mall of Georgia.
Man, I hate this, but you're also not wrong. You can decide if this is about my voice or deadmalls.
Can you go to Regal Hollywood 20 & RPX Greenville please?
I have been wanting to go hit some theaters in GSP area at some point. I'll try to make it up there in the coming months.
I’ve been there it’s a ok theater it’s pretty big. very neony lobby
