Carl Jung Said The Self You Built Isn’t the One You Must Keep: The Letter I Wish I’d Read Sooner
What if everything you thought about yourself was never meant to last?
We spend our early years building a self that fits the world-chasing success, proving our worth, constructing an identity we believe will hold. But what if that self was never meant to be permanent?
Carl Jung believed that midlife isn’t a crisis-it’s an initiation. The person you created to survive the first half of life isn’t the person you were meant to stay. And if you resist that transformation, you will suffer-not because you are broken, but because you are holding on to something you were meant to outgrow.
This is the letter I wish I had read when I was younger-a message from my older self, shaped by the wisdom of six thinkers who saw what most people never realize.
In this video, I bring together the life-changing insights of:
📖 Carl Jung - Why the self you built is not the self you must keep.
📖 Friedrich Nietzsche - Why true growth requires destruction-and why you must burn the old self to rise again.
📖 Viktor Frankl - Why happiness isn’t found-it’s created through meaning.
📖 Alan Watts - Why the biggest lie we believe is that life is a journey-when it’s really a dance.
📖 Carl Rogers - Why real change comes not from fixing yourself, but from finally accepting who you are.
📖 Seneca - Why time isn’t something we lose-it’s something we waste.
This isn’t just about change. It’s about becoming.
If you’ve ever felt lost, restless, or like something inside you is shifting but you don’t know why-this video will challenge everything you thought you knew about who you are and what comes next.

THIS MAKES ME FEEL BETTER ABOUT BEING 3 YEARS TO 40😂
I'm glad to hear that! Embracing the journey towards 40 can be a wonderful experience filled with growth and new opportunities.
First. 😏
Thanks for being the first to comment! Your enthusiasm is appreciated!
I will never understood men who have a man-bun. Anyway, 54 here, I wouldn't have changed anything in ny past, even though it's full of "mistakes", because without them, I wouldn't have met the people I meant to cross path with. I've always been happy, even when starving because Covid forced my businesses into bankruptcy. I will survive anything that comes. Now 70% of building my 1st house ever, after 35 years of renting places. 1 more year at 55 I'll have large 2 storey house debt free. And my kids will have better start, and a place to live for free, with water well, 3 businesses running at the ground floor of my house. House full of kids and grand kids, always full of laughter and sharing meals and everything. Life is good
It's inspiring to hear how you've embraced your journey and turned challenges into opportunities. Congratulations on building your first house-what an incredible milestone!
❤❤❤
thanks
Wow! Very spiritual!🙏Thank you!❤💜💚
I'm glad you found it inspiring! Life truly does have so much to offer as we grow and evolve.
I just turn 40, and I want to quit everything ! Since 2020 everything is a joke period
Turning 40 can feel overwhelming, but it’s also a chance for a fresh start! Embrace this new chapter and take it one step at a time. You've got this!
Wouldn't standing in the future just be you standing in the present 🤔
That's an interesting perspective! It’s all about how we perceive time and our experiences as we grow.
Very good
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. There’s so much wisdom to uncover as we age.
This is my GIFT to you and anyone reading this.. These suggestions have made me the person I am today. So take one or two or all of them and transform yourself to a super being. Thank me later. I personally did and do everything listed below and I got massive results. 1. Write out a statement of your Short Term Goal AND your Chief Aim/Main Goal... on a "goal card" or paper. 2. Write it out 50 times a day for 30 days preferably around the same time each day. After the 30 days, you go back and write it out ONCE a day. This is your compass in life. 3. Set your phone alarm to go off every 3 hours (to disrupt your daily routine) and when it goes off write down your statement and then close your eyes and see yourself with your goal for 2 mins. 4. Record your statement in your voice on a voice recorder on your phone, and play it back to yourself on loop while you sleep and as often as you can daily, example... in the shower or when you are using the rest room. 5. Find an accountability partner. If you cannot find someone, then you MUST write out your statement DAILY. By doing this you make yourself accountable to YOURSELF. 6. Find a community or FB group/group chat, etc and from that community form a Mastermind with one or two people who have studied from REAL Mentors and are giving VALUE. There is a "Law of Giving" and many people are using it. Andrew Carnegie told Napoleon Hill this back in the early 1900s. Its a LAW and it works. Its what I am doing with this post. 7. Auto-Suggest (Think and Grow Rich Chapter 4) to yourself in front of the mirror in the bathroom at least twice a day. Look directly INTO your eyes OR one eye and recite your WRITTEN statement. Then splash cold water on your face. This sudden shock seals the thought into the subconscious due to emotional and physical shock from the cold water. 8. Write out ten "I AM" statements a day. example. I AM happy, I AM more confident. Use the word MORE; implying you already have it, but want more. You trick the brain. 9. Write out 5 things you HAVE that you are grateful for and 5 things that you are grateful for that are coming to you. Mix up the list one after the other. 10. When in public tell people you see that you love them in your mind. Simply say "I LOVE YOU" to them as you pass them, especially when driving, because their subconscious hears and FEELS the intention. Say it to about 10 to 15 people daily. This increases your Good Karma. It might seem like a lot. But it took me less than two weeks to incorporate the list into my life and 32 days later I started getting massive results. What have you got to lose, try some or ALL and see your results. Let me know know too. Have a great day... and thanks for reading.
This is advice for people with no kids, no health issues, and that have money 😂. Look, I use to embrace all these ideas and 60% of it is true, but it lacks practical advice. Life is difficult and sometimes you have to adapt to what you have and be grateful, carve a life from that and make the best of it. Mostly, be true to yourself and find time for the things that fulfill you. Stand up for your values and learn to depend on yourself. Take opportunities that come your way and trust the process!
Thank you for sharing your perspective! It’s true that everyone’s journey is unique, and adapting to our circumstances while staying true to ourselves is essential. Your insights are valuable!
Oh my! ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! I’ve also tuned in to EVERY one of those great teachers to gain understanding of how to become an elegant elder. Too cool! I’d add Jiddu Krishnamurti to this list of master teachers. I would love to hear from some impactful female teachers too. They are out there, I’m sure.
Glad you like it. Much appreciated.
Here we go , 02/09/25 touch base with you in 5 years - self
Looking forward to seeing how life unfolds for you in five years!
I'm 43 and life has come full circle. Im so glad i started working early on in life in construction and later trade. Trade taught me alot of lessons, one of which being that money and real estate (wealth) are not the prime benchmark and goal of my existence. I quit alcohol four year ago and now view the world in a different light. I now appreciate life each and every day. The good and bad days are all experiences that become memories. Building genuine connections in society is the wealth that i now value. Knowledge is the other asset. You were succesful the day you were born and everyday till the end of your existence. I earn a fraction of what i earned a decade ago and yet, I am happier than i was back then. Looking back to my teens i realise that despite my poverty, those days were the most memorable of my life. This life and your memories are yours and no one can take them away from you. Thats the true meaning of life. 🎉 And for those of you who want a quick refresher on enlightenment and how money isnt the prime objective in life i recommend you watch the movie, wall street 2. Michael Doulglas's speech was earth shattering. The end of the movie reasonated with my life in so many ways. The green back isn't wealth. Time is!
Wow, your journey is truly inspiring! It’s amazing how life experiences shape our perspectives over time. Cheers to appreciating the little moments and the connections we build along the way!
Well im about to turn 40 soon, so i hope this is true. Awakening in my life is at hand for sure dont know if thats just coincidence for me or what.
Turning 40 can be a transformative experience for many! Embrace the changes and opportunities that come your way-it's a new chapter!
@TheProgressPursuitOfficial 🙏🏻 thank you kind sir appreciate the encouragement bless you
For me 40s is like inching towards old age. Nothing starts at 40. Things start to decay from 40 onwards. Its depressing, scary, and unfit in younger circle and older circle. Its not worth in my opinion. Will someone trade millions of dollars and start life at 40, skip childhood and young. No. Get ready to become old.😢
I understand where you're coming from; turning 40 can feel daunting. However, many people find that this decade brings new opportunities for growth and self-discovery. It's all about perspective!
"your past is just a place of reference, not residence" is a great quote
Absolutely! That quote really puts things into perspective and reminds us to focus on the future.(side note: I was planing to put this as the title for this week blog post)
Drop the music please
Thanks for your feedback! I appreciate your perspective on the music choice.
Yep!!
Absolutely! It's amazing how much we can grow and evolve when we let go of the past.
Great video, BUT THE RANDOM SCATTERED SYLLABLES oh my god they are so jarring
I appreciate your feedback! I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future videos. Thanks for watching!
PROFOUND! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@TheProgressPursuitOfficial I not only enjoyed it, but I learned MUCH from it too! 🙏
Just one piece of advice; forget everything you think you know. You know nothing! You exist within the infinite.
That's a profound perspective! Sometimes, shedding our preconceived notions can open up a whole new world of possibilities.
the older you get, the wiser you become, and the scary the world becomes...until you can control it again. try to control it ...or it WILL control you. trust me.
That's a powerful perspective! Embracing wisdom as we age can definitely help us navigate the complexities of life.
40 is the start of the end .
I can see where you're coming from, but many people find their passion and purpose in their 40s! It's all about perspective.
Birth is the Start of the END
40 is the start of the start lol
The flow creation looked awesome!!
I'm glad you enjoyed the flow creation! It really adds a unique touch to the message.
I'm 52 but the 40s are the sweet spot. Gaining wisdom from life experiences and truly finding yourself. I have grandsons now and want to teach them how to be men like my son and I.
That's wonderful to hear! The 40s really do bring a sense of clarity and purpose. It's great that you want to pass on your wisdom to your grandsons-what a valuable legacy!

It’s interesting how perspectives change as we grow older. What does life beginning at 40 mean to you?

This is really great thank you

What's the point of anything? Everyone and everything will end someday. Ashes to ashes....Dust to dust.
I understand where you're coming from. Life can feel overwhelming sometimes, but it's also filled with moments that make it beautiful and worthwhile. Embracing these moments can help us find meaning along the way.
LIfe begins at whatever age you start to living fully. You get to milestones and if you haven't achieved what you wanted, your protective cognitive processes tell you that life begins now whether that's 40, 50, 60 or 60. Most people die still waiting for life to start. Stop waiting for permission.
Absolutely! Life is all about seizing the moment and living fully, regardless of age. It's never too late to start making the most of every day!
The awakening can happen before 40 I'm 39 I had a awakening 12 years ago I first heard of the shadow in the song 46 and 2 I have understood this in my late 20s and heard of life starting at 40 before but only agree to a point because everyone is on a different journey and arrives from different directions at different times some learn and grow faster or slower there are seasons in life Just like in the year know the season ur in Understand it and why ur there seasons do change in time I know only one true thing is true your worth is separate from your behavior you are worthy of a good life
Thank you for sharing your insights! It’s so true that everyone’s journey is unique, and awakening can happen at any age. Understanding the seasons of life is a profound way to navigate our experiences.
Spiral out
Really nicely put together video. You got a new follower, not because you told us something new but rather because you reminded us what we have always known.
Thanks and welcome
Life begins when we are born , we only start to live when we open our minds , not our eyes
That's a profound perspective! It's true that true living comes from our mindset and openness to experiences.
I’m 41 and have never been happier. I now know what life is all about .
That's wonderful to hear! It’s amazing how life can take on new meaning as we grow older. Cheers !!!
What is it about?

The music choice was meant to add a bit of energy to the video! I'm glad you noticed it.
So accurate. Im 43 and this is where i am right now. I'm in the future I thought I wanted. It's all crumbling though and im happy because I get create the future I truly want. It may take another 30 years to live in it, but I will have it.
It’s inspiring to see you embracing change and focusing on creating the future you truly want. Remember, every step forward is progress!
