What is Your View on Robotic Knee Surgery?
Does it cause pain ever after surgery , what should wear? How do I know if I must go for the bunion surgery , I've long thin fit but this bone aesthetically looks very ugly , also i get pain there when I walk extra than usual days? Should I go for the surgery I'm 25....
They left out several important details. Many surgeons prefer total hip replacement (THR) over hip resurfacing for two main reasons: hip resurfacing requires extensive training due to the crucial need for precise implant placement, which leaves less room for error compared to THR. Additionally, hip resurfacing is generally suitable for only a small subset of patients, such as young males, due to the metal-on-metal implant. While total hip replacement (THR) will definitely restrict you from doing many of the activities you enjoyed before surgery, patients who undergo anterior approach hip resurfacing generally face no such physical limitations. This is because the resurfacing implant more closely mimics the natural mechanics of the hip. This makes hip resurfacing a more suitable option for younger (<60 yrs of age) and more active patients. Although lifestyle factors such as activity level, weight, and overall health have a significant impact, recent long-term studies indicate that most hip resurfacing implants, such as the Birmingham or Conserve Plus, typically last 15-20 years.
What if its only bone on bone on medial not whole joint
Mine has never squeaked, 9/24/2004. They arced and plotted the results on the xray. Perfect alignment. The fun thing is you can muscle memory it to pace faster than other leg.
I have amall lump on the otside of my knee doesn't affect my range of motion or stop me exerciseing squatting but i can see it feel it ,twisted slightly kneeling on something soft but didn't hurt and thought nothing of it untill morning after with this lump.
My MRI showed at both C5-C6 and C6-C7 moderate to severe canal stenosis and cord flattening, bilateral foraminal stenosis, and posterior bone spurs. My symptoms have been slowly worsening with numbness on my fingertips, neck pain and tingling between my shoulder blades, unsteady hands, balance issues, and positive Hoffman. Bending my neck back greatly aggravates the numbness on my fingers and neck pain almost immediately. Does the immediate worsened numbness on my fingers from neck extension indicate compression of the nerve roots or Meyelopathy compression of my cord? How severe do symptoms need to get before surgery is recommended?
Had total hip replacement with ceramic on ceramic. And I'm totally looking forward to this squeaking. Because it seems like it only comes once your heeled. But my surgeon was a boss And if the squeaking is due to a flaw, I doubt if I ever even have it. Definitely worth the squeaking for some longevity Though. I just wish it made a more robotic noise like a steam piston Or something every time you took a step.
Resurfacing ceramic on ceramic have now been put for 5.5 years, so far excellent results and no squeeking
The doctor in question said there would be a 15% chance that murray will need to have it re done. With a THR, would that number be less? Of couse not. What a ridiculous argument.
Metal on Metal has about a 1% risk of failure due to metal ions. Some doctors claim less because of very tight placement tolerances that they can achieve. I guess it depends on if you consider 1% to be a significant risk or not. The solution is to convert to a total hip replacement, where they keep the metal socket and replace ball with the THR ball and stem. It is also one of those things were you either have the problem or you do not, so within a year or two you will know if you have to undergo another surgery, or not.
Yeah try playing pro tennis with THR 😂
Still hasn't been improved yet in the UK, but soon??, but what about the H1 ceramic on ceramic hip resurfacing device?
Just heard back from them, expecting approval by the end of the year, but still another six months till they are offering it. So a year yet before it's available.
I’m 41 and am waiting to have surgery for spinal lumbar stenosis😰,any advice on what it’s like after the surgery, recovering etc??im really nervous thanks in advance🥰
Highly skilled surgeon with a great heart. God bless
I wish i never had my HTOs. Years later 4 on one 5 on other. The 5 year is getting rapidly worse, swelling pain, lumps etc. Pain is horror
What was reason given by the doctor?
Knee is warm out and it severely aches
My mother was diagnosed with cervical myelopathy back in 2018 following what should have been routine surgery to wash out a wound following knee replacement. She was driving after the surgery, but began to get stiffness in her left arm, and she was finding it difficult to shift the gears, and to steer the car properly. She had to give up the car. She has now become severley disabled, and has lost the use of both arms and legs. She was told that part of her spinal cord was trapped in her neck. How could this have come about, from what should have been a routine surgery? She is now in a Care Home, and has even began to lose her speech.
Thanks for your comments i am due hip revision in may 2023 i am a little bit worried but your comments have helped calm me thanks
Is fecal sack indentation a risk for myelopathy?
Had my resurfaced in 2005 all is still good but I can't run or play sport and never got my flexibility back but my hip doesn't hurt
Why? Is it the muscles that are too dense?
Arthritic hips dont have flexibility so you did not lose anything. You need to do some work for it
Just curious about spinal stenosis surgery for the elderly- my mom is 81 and we are on the fence about having surgery - any suggestions?
Stop your cycle for at least two weeks before you vax then resume 2 weeks after or 14 days
Are you sure Simon? Metal on metal, hip resurfacing, performed by an expert has a higher survival rate!
Great to see this video having met you only a week ago ! Stenosis is a tricky problem and presents in so many ways. Expertise is much required and a genuine approach to decide if surgery is the best approach for the individual.
Have all the issues.

I have a question in order to do the surgery correctly you have to remove the back part of the spine exposing the nerve to muscle tissue. do you guys put any kind of protection over the spinal cord afterwards or is that area open I can imagine having a sudden blow to the back around that area and damaging the spinal cord because there's no longer any protection around it it terrifies me please talk to me about it.
Generally, no (but see "open door laminoplasty" for cervical myelopathy). If it is a complete laminectomy, you will have a hole, but it will be covered by the muscle on top of it. Sometimes fat is added as a cushion in the resulting hole, in order to protect the nerves. The bone is drilled away and ground up, so there is no way to re-attach it. For this reason, they try and make the smallest hole possible and use smaller implements to get to the area that need to be decompressed. But sometimes it may not be possible and the whole lamina must be removed. Laminectomy has been practiced for over 100 years. The consequences of removing this bone and surrounding ligaments are well understood. The main thing surgeons worry about is removing too much bone and ligament and destabilizing the spine. For that reason, a fusion is often done with a large laminectomy or removal of facet joints. Note that below L2, there is no spinal cord; only fine lumbar roots, which have some room to sway around. So it is not the same has removing the lamina in the neck where the spinal cord is thick like a carrot.
No that’s not my diagnosis, cervical arthritis
Thank you . I've recently been diagnosed with spinal stenosis so this was helpful
had a spinal stenosis operation about 12 years ago in Bangkok by a doctor with a nickname Dr Golf. 3 days hospital and I went home in a minibus for about 200km. Never had a problem since then.
that sounds sketchy as hell lol
32 years here. HAD SPINAL STENOSIS SURGERY ONNSAT MAY 8 2021. TODAY TUESDAY AND I CAN WALK SIT AND STAND BY MYSELF. STILL HAD SOME NUMBNESS ON LEFT FOOT . AT THIS POINT IM NO LONGER IN PAIN. 3HR SURGERY. WORKING ON GETTING BACK 100 OR AT LEAST CLOSE ENOUGH.
I have same thing also a bulging disc with stenosis I'm scared of doing surgery
@@sheenahosein4684 I was too. I'm ahead of my recovery. Today Mark's 2 weeks. Still a lil sore
Is there any protection on that area of the back anymore? What did the doctor advise?
@@highlander723 protection? Sit , stand , sleep in correct positions. Basically take care of your self it all starts with the small thing.!
@@CENCALBURNUP I just mean there's no protection on that side of the spinal cord anymore and I'm really nervous about that.

I’m on week 4 , still really painfull , I’m a window cleaner so no idea when I’m back at work 😕
Update?
I am also on 6 wk , but not able to walk pain free in one leg , other leg is with pain slowly walking
I need the surgery but, I’m terrified
Same.
I bawled like a baby when I found out I needed surgery. But I'm fortunate to know something like 3-4 people who have had the same procedure--and they all said that it was the best thing for them and they'd do it again in a heartbeat. That helped me feel a tad bit better. I hope you're coping with it now Anita; now that I've resolved to get this surgery I'm kinda just hoping to get in as soon as possible. I hope you feel better.
Same😰 I'm petrified! What way do u return to the ward? On stomach? Can someone tell me what happens afterwards as much info as possible I'd be very grateful 🙏 Tia

Whats the treatment?
Would you consider burning the nerve cauSin the pain
Did need nothing at all after my operation. Monday admission,Tuesday operation (2.5 hrs) Wednesday afternoon home already and by minibus 240 km to my home. 13 years ago now and nevver had pain anymore or physiotherapy.

Is it safe to take covid vaccine during steroid cycle...
Same question
It is safe yes.
@@kjlu7868 really men?
@@markjosephlargo3571 positive. Not enough research but there is no case that steroid cycle users have a bigger chance caught Covid. And one of the steroid is actually used as a medical for Covid. So it is safe to say your okay to take a cycle just not too much does.

Just home from this operation what a difference this is my 3rd back op in 10 years . The excruciating pain has gone, months of agony disappeared over night , now I have to take it carefully. I would recommend anyone to have this operation .
I hope you feel as well next month. I didn't do too well. But, because of pain killer I didn't know.
I had Spina Stenosis Surgery May 8 , Today May 24 and I can walk sit stand by myself just dont have all my strength on left leg!!
How are you feeling this time any update please? Are you still pain free? I'm so much in pain I feel I don't have a life anymore. God heal us👏🙏
@@selenasb4ach852 sorry to hear your distress , i do still get some pain but I am very active have been since 2 months after the op . Doc you are spot on with the symptoms of stenosis.
I have 3 bulging disks, stenosis and sciatica no chiropractor or physical therapist will touch me. My pain is lower left side going down my leg and its been 3 weeks and still chronic pain. and injections dont work, surgery is the only option at this point.
