The Lost World of the Dinosaurs: Armin Schmitt
In this episode we’re travelling millions of years into the past to uncover the secrets of Earth’s ancient history. My guest is Armin Schmitt a renowned palaeontologist based at Cambridge University and author of the book, ‘The Lost World of the Dinosaurs.’ (www.amazon.co.uk/Lost-World-Dinosaurs-Uncovering-Prehistoric/dp/1335081216)
We discuss the fascinating world of dinosaurs, their evolution, and their lasting impact on our understanding of life on Earth. Armin explains the definition of dinosaurs, their size and duration on the planet, and how birds are their modern descendants.
We hear about the significance of feathers, the global distribution of dinosaurs, their dietary habits, and the catastrophic asteroid impact that led to their extinction. Armin emphasises the adaptability and innovation of dinosaurs, challenging common misconceptions about their extinction.
The episode concludes with some surprising aspects of dinosaur life, including their feeding habits, social structures, and intelligence. Armin also shares insights into the challenges of paleontological research and offers advice for aspiring paleontologists, emphasising the importance of curiosity and continuous learning.

Brilliant, Ted Carroll, what a gent!
Even 60 years ago the BBC tried to control the air waves. Sadly nothing has changed. I remember Caroline fondly.
@BRENTHILL-eq4fb I was quite young at the time but later listened to Radio Luxembourg
As a recent 'convert' to the Dwarves music, I enjoyed getting a history lesson. Thanks!
Ted's a bit of a hero of mine...As a Damned fan, I was always intrigued by Chiswick Records, & Ted was always good with the fans...🙏🙏🙏
Currently reading Our Moon and your conversation with Rebecca Boyle adds the human touch. Thanks from Chicago.
@thomasslonka8879 That's great to hear Thomas. Thankyou. It's a great book isn't it.
"Shit tricks" LOL ! Yeah right. Fabulous musician and an intelligent, thoughtful personality. Great interview.
Pleased you enjoyed the interview. It was fun!
to 95% of men viewing this video he is NO joke
Hello Pondy!
Been following Francis since the 80,s the original it bites were superb 🎼👌
Gone too far the other way, tax payers kerping dolers and fat lards in life of riley.
I’ve seen trex live and trextasy over 20 times one thing danielz has missing is a congas player
Life without Bolans masterpieces makes no sense , it gives you so much energy and joy , I cannot understand how people make it throu without Bolans mind support! Maybe that's the reason why they are always being lame and have no personality :) Rock On!
Finn was brought in because of his looks. Took had far more talent. Tooks cd Horns is a Great album. Best single to me Will always be Hot Love. My Grandma bought for me. . That means so much to me . Brilliant been 13yrs old in 71. Better than today.
You are the same age as me. That song was magic! Great year for music.
First
I saw T rextasy a few years ago and they were awesome! Danielz is such an awesome singer, he is so like Marc! Marc was my first crush when I was eight!
I saw them too Sam. Excellent and having never seen Marc live it gave me an idea of what seeing him would have been like!
❤
Zal was first to wear make up , a georgous man 🇬🇧
Very similar surname to the guitarist who played with Jack Bruce
Fascinating interview. Zal is a wonderful and much loved and respected guitarist in his own right, but of course as the lead guitarist in SAHB he is positively legendary. Loved the interview and delighted to hear Zal's stories of his influences and inspirations. ❤
Pleased you enjoyed the interview Bruce. He's one of the best!
That doesn't explain why people have bad vision.
Yeah, Candy Now! Is still one of my all time favourites.
His latest work orphans of the ash is incredible!!!🤘🤘
another great guitarist that i wish i discovered earlier.
I saw t.rex 5 times never a bad gig. I even named my red setter jeepster.keep a little marc in your heart.❤
Thanks, both fascinating insight to Francis and It Bites. Love Francis’s enthusiasm for music still. Great interview. 🤘🏻😉
Pleased you enjoyed! Thanks
Brilliant and he played with pomp and was always the showman the whole band was good
Loved them too Steven! If you are a Thin Lizzy fan you may enjoy the interview with Eric Bell. ua-cam.com/video/KpxE7lMvQPo/v-deo.html
My former hight school art teacher, enjoy your retirement sir.
Wow a small world! He got me thinking about doing the Camino.
He played with Elkie Brooks in the 1980's as her touring guitarist. Saw Sin Dogs at a small club in Grimsby, very poorly supported, must have been disappointing for them. They are still going and have replaced Zal. Orphans of the Ash, we will see
Zal is a monster - check out "Orphans of the Ash". 70-something yo still killing it
Zal is a monster - check out "Orphans of the Ash". 70-something yo still killing it
Zal is a monster - check out "Orphans of the Ash". 70-something yo still killing it
Just checked that record out😱💥🤘
He must be, that's the 3rd time you've posted the same comment! 😂
Great guitarist, well worth to be rediscovered 🎸
🗣 *They’re hardly one hit wonders 👇🏽 try 3 or 4 in all fairness!* *Plus i never knew the connection to the proto punk electronic band ‘Suicide!’ * 💯🫡☑️👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
ONE HIT WONDERS
Zal's solo on Anthem is one of the best ever.
Definitely ....
Totally agree, it's not fancy or long but damn it tears a hole in my soul !!
Here's the inspiration for the Baseball Furies His sound on Faith Healer sounds just like the guitars in the Warriors
Simply the best t rex still rock on
Saw them in 2022 Alan, agree. Fantastic.
Tons of respect for Francis, followed his music for decades, an interesting, authentic dude...great interview 👍
Great interview, been a fan of zal and sahb since they started. Zal has to be the most underated guitar player ever
Pleased you enjoyed Raymond Definitely underrated.
he really is not that underrated nowadays, people have started recognising his huge talent, and he's still very much playing!
Loved Zal since Framed, loved Sindogs, cracking album and good T-shirts 😀 and very impressed with Orphans of the Ash. Eager for the next stage
Good interview and insight into Zal's wider work ... & the life of a professional musician.
Thanks Colin and pleased you enjoyed.
WTF?! .....what happened?! ...LOL!
What do u mean?
🎵A musician's lot is not a ha-ppy one - ha-ppy one.🎵😥
SAHB my favourite band.....Love Zal's tone.
youre only 23 subcribers and your talking to zal clemison i only have 11 subcribers
Yeah we are predominantly an audio podcast on Spotify, Apple etc and only put most of the episodes up recently on UA-cam.
so hopfelly zal makes some new live videoes@@undercurrentstories2957
orphans of the ash first listening i dont like it sounds too morbid reminds when wasp wrote kill f##k die which was terrible i think this zal new band its too modern style for the youth ,for me i find it terrible sin doge was a better approach@@undercurrentstories2957
i think its the youth will like zals new band for me i cant get into it@@undercurrentstories2957
Who was the first to wear Kiss or Zal Cleminson makeup? Gorgeous dude.
Zal wore makeup first in 72, kiss 73
Zal is on record saying that when they decided to use makeup he went to see the legendary mime Marcel Marceau. So that was his influence. He also used many of Marceau's moves.
Alice Cooper?
@@oldjack-mi8gkLil Richard?
Fun band great entertainment rock on Brothers and Sister's. ❤✌️
Great tribute to bolan always live
Great conversation. The first album I bought was Electric Warrior and again a massive influence on my self taught guitar playing. I've seen T.Rextasy many times and it's always a great show
Hey up
