Wading for Mississippi River Smallies
Spent a fun afternoon wading on an island in the Mississippi River blasting bronzebacks. There is just nothing like the smallie bite when it’s crankin’!

Переглядів 3082 роки тому
A look at the most basic and easy pattern for winter crappies. When you’re short on time, it’s a great way to run out and just get in a few fun hours after work in the winter. If you don’t have electronics or are just starting out, it’s an easy way to find crappies all winter long.
Sturgeon Fishing with Crawlers and Fatheads Pays Off!
Переглядів 4632 роки тому
No shad? No problem! I hit the St Croix for last ditch attempt at catching a dinosaur. I don’t have a throw net and can’t catch shad, but crawlers and fatheads paid off with the biggest fish I’ve ever caught. It didn’t exactly take the usual route into the boat, however :)
October River Fishing is HOT!
Переглядів 2893 роки тому
Plenty of multi-species action on the river in early October. I hit the Mississippi River, pool 2 in St Paul and found plenty of willing biters. Trolling flicker shads, jiggging plastics and slinging topwaters were all producing. What an outstanding fishery we have flowing right through the twin towns!
Ultralight Fishing With Tiny Plastics Saves the Day!

I couldn’t buy a fish and threw everything but the kitchen sink at the weed beds, so it was time for the backup plan: Ultralight fishing with tiny plastics. Always puts fish in the boat!
Heat Wave River Fishing: Ultralight Cats and Creek Pike
Переглядів 2493 роки тому
Hot weather and low river levels have made river fishing tougher, so I put in Pool 2 in South St Paul to scrounge what I could. Downsizing to an ultralight jig/crawler combo did the trick for for fun cats and the pike in the cool water creek were ready to play :)
Summertime Low Water River Fishing

I hit pool 2 on the Mississippi for some multi species action. I tried several techniques: trolling, jigging, topwater and cattin’. Always a great day on the river!

Enjoying some fantastic fishing on pool 2 with subscriber Joe Hanson. He was hoping to catch a catfish more than eight pounds - check! He was hoping to catch a flathead - check! He didn’t know about the great topwater action, but got that too! These are the days I dream of all winter :)

I only had a couple of hours before dark to fish, so I ran downtown to Nicollet Island to try for some smallies. It was a beautiful evening to be out chasing fish!

How Long Will the Norsk Lithium Ion Battery Power My Helix 5?
Переглядів 2,7 тис.3 роки тому
I just purchased a my first Lithium Ion battery and perform a little experiment to see how long it will power my Humminbird Helix unit that I use on the ice. I should have mentioned in the video that this was the 15 Amp Hour battery. Amazingly, they’re not on Amazon at this time, but definitely check ‘em out!

Big Cat Adventure - That Didn’t All Go As Planned!
When will we get a new video?
Trash rods. Absolute garbage. Eyelets fall out for no reason and then they want to charge you to fix their poor workmanship. I have a bunch of rods sitting unused in my basement because they all are missing eyelets. They all just happen to be st croix.
Beautiful smallie
I've use a dropper rig for perch a lot, never thought of it for crappies! 🤦♂
Thanks for the review
I wish I would’ve saw this sooner, never been to LOTW ever, and goin out to Zippler next week, I don’t really like their holes are under the bunks like that, wish it would’ve been like JR’s sleepers at Red Lake …. Nice and roomy with 6 holes/4 man sleepers ..
We did the same thing arnesons first and zipple second. I agree with your assessment.
Great job 👍👏 got my pb beat 13:55
Love it
Gonna be fishing the st croix river in 2 days hope to get some biggins
Great video, thanks for putting this together!
Good video, I just ordered one of these things. Went crappie fishing this past Friday and got a few wind knots, luckily they didn’t turn into crows nests as I only brought one rod with me and no extra spool. I own around 20 rods and at least 10 of then need to have the line replaced, I think this contraption is just the thing I’ve been looking for. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.
I'm shocked that woman didn't come kick you off the dock! 😂😂😂
At the time when I used to go years ago Zippo was by far the cheapest And artisans was the most expensive. Years ago babblers by artisans plowed roads which got you out to the reefs and gull rock By far between artisans and longpoint has the most structure Good place to learn.
Was everything catch and release? Seems like you could keep the burbot?
My buddy kept a couple of burbot to try. I didn’t mess with ‘em. You could certainly keep the walleyes :)
@@northstarangling2953 burbot is supposed to be great eating.
Lake of the woods Sleepers out of Bugsys on Bostic is Second to none! Nate and the boys are outstanding and they're shacks are beautiful!!!!!!!
Sounds awesome - I need to get back up there :)
You should check out Dale's Resort out by Warroad. Their sleeper houses are decked out with all furnishings, pots, dishes, tv, everything.
That would be great and I’ve always heard such good things about them.
I'm heading to Arnesen's this March to give it a shot. Went to Zipple Bay 3 years ago and didn't fare too well. We will see....
Good luck up there!
Awesome video. River fishing is just SO much more relaxing and beautiful than dealing with the chaos on the local lakes in the summer. Thanks for sharing!
Amen to that and it’s so perfect for a little boat like mine :)
I couldn't help but giggle at the old man hunched over groans. Good fishing, love rattle reels
I’m sure I’m even more flexible this year! :)
Nice cat! Ever use frogs?
Thanks a lot :) I used frogs some growing up very successfully, but it’s been a while.
This boat may be marketed by Forester, by it is manufactured as a 1973 Steury T315F Sport Fisher in Goshen IN.
That’s awesome to know! I’m going to have to check into that :)
Still working?
Still is awesome and led me to buying several more St Croixs :)
I'm on the st croix as well! I used to fish for channels and flathead, but I have more luck with sturgeon. Very cool fish!
Hey there! Is the rod glossed up the blank? Or is it matte? And LOOVED Uncle Steve. Wish he stayed forever.
Hi, I believe it’s gloss. It’s pretty shiny. I don’t know why, but I certainly found Uncle Steve to be endlessly entertaining. Have a good one!
Im late to the party! But i am here now!
Aww yeah - let me know when you can get out and play :)
I could see my property in the background I own a small chunk by the bayport marina, Nice fish what a BEAST!!
How cool to live right on the river! I’ll definitely be doing that again this fall :)
@@northstarangling2953 I live in Hastings, That property is all beach and a small lot owned by me and several other family members
I have always wanted to hit minnetonka What is the parking situation out there? Nice fish out there
I often put in at Carson’s bay and it’s a weird little lot a couple hundred yards from the ramp, but most of the major launches have lots of parking.
Thats some sweet action! I caught a couple big ones down on the Saint Croix, I have always wanted to fish down in that spot you were at but never have, Awesome video!
Thanks bud, it was a blast for sure! Good luck out there :)
Love all the videos I've fished the Minnesota River my whole life and I love it keep up the great videos and would love to fish with you this summer
Hey, sorry there, somehow I’m just seeing this. I appreciate it much - we could meet up sometime and chase cats or something :)
@@northstarangling2953 hell ya im down anytime
Hey there, get a hold of me at ndoss70@yahoo.com and we can figure something out :)

thank you! very nice video
Hey, thanks :)
You never said which lake you were at!
Where is this Address?
Snag
Nice vid
Thanks much, can’t wait to get back at it :)
Only time I catch fish is when the river is low. I like fishing a river near Springfield, new ulm. Small sand bottom
Sounds nice, I love small rivers :)
Beautiful catches! Would love to fish with you sometime! I messaged you on Facebook not sure if message went through though. Tight lines!
Hey chief awesome video! Any good spots you mind sharing for bank fishing catch and release?
Hey there, thanks for checking out the channel:) If I were bank fishing, I’d go to the same stretch of river as we’re hitting in the video: pool 2 in St. Paul. The area where Minnehaha creek empties into the river right below the dam is a fantastic area to catch everything, especially in spring when the water is high. Or, you can park at the hidden falls lot an walk a good mile of river shoreline. Throw some meat into any eddie or current seam. Lastly, it’s a hike, but you can walk all the way to the tip of Pike island in Ft Snelling st park and be right where the Mn and Miss. rivers meet. There is a giant 40ft hole down there and is a great area. Good luck out there!
🙃 P-R-O-M-O-S-M!
The Triumph uses a SCII blank. The Mojo Bass has a SCIII blank. They upgraded the Mojo Bass line a number of years ago. When they came out they were the same blank.
I use Adrian’s for their road. I bring my own ice castle up and the roads are wide. I find a spot that’s been fished by someone else and never had an issue. Another one I have tried for sleeper houses is Jeff’s Ico’ miniums. They have some 25-30 foot sleeper houses with lots of room and better prices. And bathrooms are inside your house
How did these hold up a year later? Did it break during setup, teardown, or storage? I have the Eskimo Quickfish 6i, so I would need two of them. Does the light reach the corners with people sitting at the holes?
Hey there, I still have one one each of my shacks and they both work like a charm :) I just tuck the wires in the side pocket and everything folds up as normal. They light up every inch of the inside of the tent. I’ll literally put one of these in every hub I ever buy. I do a decent amount of night fishing. Thanks for checking it out and have a good one!
It looked like the wires are exposed where they enter the plastic. Does that effect its waterproof qualities?
I’ve had one in my hub for 3 years and haven’t had any issues. It hits the ice during tear down when I drop the roof in and haven’t broken it yet. Mind you, I still try to be easy/careful with it but you know how it goes
Im late to the party! But i made it. Hell ya Captain!
Awww yeah - we’ll be out soon :)
Ultralight fishing is the best! I’ve caught some absolute tank bass on 1/32 oz jigs with 2” paddletails! Big pike too!
Your voice when you caught the monster is priceless! The raw emotion, I love it!!!
Thanks so much - there were so many skunks and hard outings that went into catching that one. I think I like sturgeon fishing now :) Hey, thanks for checking out the channel!
I love the tip about switching to the waxies on the deadstick when they won’t hit the minnow. I’ll have to try that!
That’s really code for “I’m too lazy to move, so let’s just try different things” :)
Great intro video!
Hey, thanks a lot :)
If the ice house sucked grab the auger and start hole hopping outside. It’s fishing for a reason
Yeah, we did a lot of that :)
Keep the videos coming, nice job!!
Thanks, much appreciated :)
