This is the GM 3.8. engine. Initially I bought Intense Racing's built 10 sec. motor from their record setting Grand Prix. A unfortunately shoddy shop in Las Vegas was used freshen it up / install, and it popped after only 1500 miles. I had kept my original engine on a pallet at my house. So pulled it out and put it into the game. This is the original factory number matching block in the car now. Bored .10 over and as you can see built. Total almost 103k miles on it, 20k with the turbo setup, still running strong.

Thats cool, I believe these cars can be modified in ways that really set them off. They are shaped like no others, getting more rare by the year. Best of luck to you, be creative. Currently on the 3rd 4T65E-HD "Highly modified" tranny bolted up to custom DART Machinery 8 cyl aluminum block race engine. The owner is now swapping in a again "Highly modified" 4T80E. It was putting over 1100whp, kept breaking parts, so it was tuned down to about 875whp. I watched this being built as the same shop built my Monte 1st., not much I can't answer about this Monte if you have questions. Hey, you have a keen eye, appreciate the question. Sadly the louvers were never commercially available, so with that they had to be custom built. Had different trades involved, welder to fabricate, body shop to finish. It took a lot of searching to get someone to step up and do these. Went to the junkyard, removed the rear window from a Monte. The welder made a rest for the junk yard window, arranged it to mimic the same angle of the installed glass, so you can see through the slats with rear view mirror (used my Monte with angle gauge ) then he took it from there and fabbed them accordingly. If you are thinking of having some built, I have pictures of them raw, unfinished you could show to a welder as to what you are needing done. Think by the time the dust settled about $2300, yikes... Its super you have a DE Edition, pretty rare version, keep it squared away, these are getting rarer by the day, congrats.

Well, then that got me to thinking, one of two, or three possibilities: 1.) I could adapt louvers from another car with a similar profile, not easy, as the W chassis Monte has a fairly unique rear window. 2.) I 3D print my own parts from black resin, then hand-buff it to a satin finish. Or lastly, 3.) I know a guy that works in a local custom body shop in my area that just got an autoclave last year, and we can make it out of carbon fiber, no gloss gel coat, just finish it with a matte sealant.

@@SamMcDowell-e9w Like your ambitious attitude, pretty creative thinking, 3D print one up, satin finish on a black car, sinister effect, so many possibilities, add a red edge, red bowtie. Autoclaved carbon fiber, that would be insane. Tweak an existing similiar unit, that would be an interesting search, never thought of that. This is why its cool to talk with others, you just never know what their thought process will conjour up. I went the metal route, that was the only thought I had. You may open up new angles for other people to acquire louvers. You have to keep me updated on how this all washes out, you come across as a doer, so lets get a popping. Look at the center of the bottom louver slat. Had a laser shop cut out the bowtie, added a splash of red for effect, details matter. Take care bud...

Started the modifications in 08, tried to be tasteful with exterior / interior / engine bay etc. appearance. Then power up the engine / beef up tranny, suspension so it is at least a contender to a few roll up on you street races. 😬 You have a Monte yourself?

Hey guy, well that was the trick. I had to have them built. Master welder, then auto body shop to clean up weld seams etc, paint them, had a lazer cutting shop cut out the Chevy Bowtie. Then had to set up a method to attach it to the window so it could be easily removed to clean glass. Was into it almost 2k by the time the dust settled. Appreciate that you can appreciate what you are looking at. I thought we needed something to dress up our Monte's rear end appearance. Thanks for asking bud, take care.

Hi, so this UIM comes from the GM L26 engine. It is made from aluminum, fits nicely with on the 3800 L36 N/A engine our Montes came with. Anyway I had to send it out to get the metal polishing, coating done thats gives it the chrome appearance. Hope this helps. Here is a link to how these are made to work on our cars. New racebuilt transmission, limited slip differential and put perhaps 300 miles on it in a year. Its the best built one on earth, not another like it. Would let it go for relatively cheap, 18k

Hey hi, actually this was a purpose built turbo setup. There are the ZZP type off the shelf available, but I chose to take it to a survivability level. here are a couple links, the video you commented on is a bit old. The Monte has evolved with the Holley Dominator EMS to handle all tuning parameters while the factory pcm handles the basic functions. Borg-Warner TC, GMPP LSD etc. Its a love hate relationship as most builds probably are. A lot of trial and error over the years, especially with the fuel. Now it has the CTSV dual fuel pump. 1st link describes the early mods, 2nd is a better overall view of the car. @BADMONTESS how are you getting the Holley to work wth stock computer?? I didn't think anyone was running aftermarket ECU's in the 3800 community 🤔. Very cool setup. Hi, let me have a couple days to get back to you with the info. need to pull the car cover off and refresh myself as to what is what. From what I remember on dash is Fuel pressure, oil pressure, transmission temperature, on the verticle column is Boost psi, fail safe and the other I forgot and will see once I uncover it, need to start up and circulate oil, fluids anyway. The Holley by shifter essentially runs all the cars critical parameters, it even reads my fuel temperature, which I like. So stand by and I will clarify what they all do. As far as where I got them, typically off of Summit, Jegs, eBay. They are all AEM gauges.

A Tony Stewart Edition, thats pretty darn cool. Think they are about the most rare of all the Signature Series Montes. These lights were custom built by a shop here in Utah, unfortunately he went out of business. There is a new shop here in Utah now, he's going to tweak these around, freshen them up this spring. Hey hi, so the grille is the add on feature. Other than that it is the standard SS front bumper. The grille came on the Tony Stewart edition from the factory. Then SLP made them for a few years. They have been out of production for probably 10 years, extremely rare to find one for sale. Here is a link for a guy on eBay selling similiar ones he made up. They are okay, going to be sometime prepping them for paint etc. The screen mesh is added to the back, perimeter is a bit wide. The front ends need some kind of dressing up to set them apart from other Montes, the grille is a great way to achieve that. The other guys are close enough to get that effect. I bought a set of Intense Racing CNC Ported heads and was not very happy about how they turned out so now Dave at TEP is FINISHING them. 2k and my cores and now another 500$ to finish them the way I should have received them in the first place. No one really messes with these heads any more. I'm doing a Twincharged build and a smaller build XP-rpm, GenV, all supporting mods. Trying to build 2 GTP's at once, it was a dumbass idea but to far in to turn back now.

@@jplperformance9073 twincharged, that is going to be a handfull, congrats for the initiative to undertake on a build such as that. 2 GTP's at once, well why not, you will already have the tools out, you a crazy one, got to admire you. So my builder got back to me with the information. You can call them up, drop his name and ask your pointed questions to see if they can do what you are expecting. Now that I'm looking at it more he did not give me a name, so I will ask for a specific name tomorrow and followup with you. My builder is a family run operation and they di race dragsters, top fuel. He is currently building a 1800whp 7th gen Monte Carlo. Its a rwd on an Art Morrison custom frame. They cut the Monte body away from the unibody structue and mounted it onto the custom frame. Been about 4 years on it now. The owner wants a piece of GM artwork when its done. Hey hi, thank you, appreciate the kudos. Suffice to say I'm even further than this with it now. Nothing crazy, custom fabricated headlights, Holley engine management, couple other minor things. Bought it new in 02 for 27k, have put enough into it to buy 3 or 4 more of these. Don't know if you have seen other videos, undercarriage, suspension, etc. Funny part is now that it is done, I rarely drive it anymore. The police really cracked down on street racing, the local 1/4 mile track closed (Noise complaints), gotten older all these years later. Now it just sits under a car cover, under the carport. Did one car show this year about 80 miles away. If felt good to be behind the wheel again, but with it being so cherried out I don't like to drive it much. Get bugs in radiator fins etc., undercarriage can get jacked up driving in the rain etc. Been toying with selling it. Called a company that buys cars called "We buy any car", guess they are nationwide. Emailed pics, described it, he told me it blue books at $1800, they would give me 5k for it. It was a short conversation after that. Listed it in our local ads, scammers or rippers were the only interest I got on it. "So where exactly is the car" he texted me. I replied we can meet at the local police station parking lot to look at it. "Well I'm driving from Las Vegas, where exactly is the car located?". I'm like, yeah right, cya... Anyway, its a small fortune since 2008 when I started building it up from stock. LOL, the life of a person who gets bity by the go fast car bug. You own a Monte?

It was putting a little over 1100whp down, kept having tranny issues living up there. So it was detuned to max out now at 874whp. Full custom built engine, DART aluminum V8 block, World heads and on and on... It just ate its 1st custom built race grade tranny about a month ago. Now its in the shop getting even better parts for its task handling the torque.

Keep up on its mainteance and they just tick right along, day after day. Have read where alot of the COVID era cars / trucks are proving to be problematic from the labor and parts shortages. Have been told to steer away from these years of cars. So bet your 14 is one to hang on to.

Hi, thank you. First off get the front calipers for a 98 to 2002 Camaro (dual piston) greater stopping power. Rear calipers are stock Monte Carlo. Next buy EBC "Yellow Stuff" brake pads for the Camaro calipers on the front and then EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads for the rear Monte Carlo calipers. Then buy rotors on eBay: [2 FRONT + 2 REAR] 4 Platinum Hart *DRILLED & SLOTTED* Disc Brake Rotors - 1386. You will have to clean and paint your calipers with the Red Caliper paint at Auto Zone etc. Also upgraded brake lines with: "buybrakes.com/2002-chevrolet-monte-carlo/brake-lines/goodridge-g-stop-brake-line-kit) Then drained all fluid and replaced with the MOTUL 5.1 non-silicone brake fluid. Hope that helps out, The Yellow Stuff shed an enormous amount of brake dust all over ytour wheels. But the trade off is "Car and Track" magazine gave them top ratings over all other pads for non-fading dependable braking pereformance. I take my car on a road course and dont like to have brake pads fade from over heating and cheap low boiling point fluid. Rather clean dust away then wreck the car. What are you running? Supercharged Monte or ??

Louvers will have to be custom made. There is and never has been no such item on the open market. I know, discouraging. Finally had to take action and pull a couple favors and get off the coin. By the time the dust settled it was close to $3200 for them. LOL, you can buy a whole Monte for that price now a days

Hi, will give you the shops number. They are currently building another 2006 Monte. It will be rear wheel drive, 1800whp. You can cvall or email them, it's a family owned shop. They race top fuel dragsters, funny cars etc. so they know how to build cars and make it last. My 02 Monte's 583whp engine is now about 8 years old and still running strong. Matt Snell is the guru, masters in automotive theory / tech, very smart guy. Be prepared to wait, both past builds took about 2 years, this current one now is in it's 4th year. But it is a never done before Monte, custom Art Morrison frame etc, they cut the Monte body away from factory frame and fit it on new frame. All extreme custom work. I like your question in that its cool to see others interested in building their Montes to extreme levels. Look at my red Monte you tube channel "BADMONTESS" Matt built my Monte 1st, then Sam had his Silver one built, now his 2nd will be the 1800whp one. He has waaaay to much money. But with that if I was to ball park a cost, and trying to be serious, I suspect if you want one very close to this silver Monte you will be close to 75k in cost.
