1979 GMC Brigadier Detroit Diesel Ear Candy
Переглядів 148 тис.6 років тому
Firing up the old truck, only 915 hours on the 6v53 Detroit. 15000 original miles.
It's not a gmc brigadier that's a 9500.
The registration said brigadier, people don’t seem to get it. 1979 fire truck
@DesiMacnevin-ib3qh If you search for a gmc 9500, you're gonna get the same face on it as this video.
Strange . Tought all of this gen civics had Electric power steering . Mine as
there are two bolts that need to be losened to adjust the serpentine belt. All you did was just show one.
It's easier to remove the pump
I can't hear U & no one has said thnx it worked so I'm replacing my wheel looks hard & on my back...forget it
Lazy ass
Really???????? I'll try then reply
A former fire apparatus no doubt. Red, chrome and diamond tread everywhere. Very clean interior. Chrome moon caps on red wheels. That’s what this was.
I know you CAN start it with the start warning buzzing. Does that go off if you have the ignition BUT DON’T TURN IT OVER or is it for the longer startup process and is in conjunction with the typical glow light process?
low air pressure warning, usually below 60psi in the brake system the warning comes on so you can get it stopped while you can (have a choice) detroit's don't have glow plugs
@@wdixon27 ahhhh thanks for that
Love them old Detroits. My favorite was the single axle White 9000 that was assigned to me. Loud, no A/C, no air ride seat, no power steering… But she was a beast.
I remember that distinct engine sound from when I was a child in the early 80's. I live just a couple of miles from the Lakewood General Motors plant which used these trucks moving cars out on trailers.
That buzzer at the beginning reminded me of old school busses when I was a kid hearing that noise when it cranked up.
I drove a 1969 international transtar back in the day it had a 238 Detroit supercharged 10 spd transmission old truck still runs to this day a friend of mine has it and uses it for a yard truck .
This is not a 1979 gmc more like 1972 modl the cab was more square shaped in 1979
Looks a bit older than 79 to me.
Class: Trailer truck (tractor) Orgin: USA
Right when the compressor kicked off it sounded great
Kwantuz hp?
Love!!
Was that an old fire truck by chance
My dad drove a what was called a j cab GMC long hood 318detroit a 5 speed Spicer with a 3 speed rear end straight pipes an a jake
I was used to a Mack. Slow revving, slow shifting truck. Next job, I got in a GMC with a 318 Detroit, with a 13spd. Was having a hard time shifting. I asked an older guy, what's the trick? He said; First thing in the morning, slam your hand in the door, and stay mad at it all day! It worked!
You left us wanting more! 😭
I was wondering what the horrid sound was until I realised "low air alarm" probably.
That doesn't look like a Brigadier; they had a square nose with single headlights on the fenders. The General had dual headlights on the fender if I remember right. That looks like a 9500. I drove a '73 9500 with a 238 Detroit and a 13 speed and at 73,000 lbs. you needed every gear! In 1980 they raised the weight limit to 80,000 lbs. and the 238 was too small.
Your right I think this is a gmc 9,500?
A Detroit Diesel (8v71 for example) turning 2,100 will sound like it's turning 4,200 but it's not. The piston speed and crankshaft speed is the same as a 4 stroke turning 2,100
1SixpenceFan..... Crankshaft speed (rpm) would be the same at whatever comparative rpm...... but, unless the stroke of both engines is the same... Piston speed (fps) would be completely different. Piston speed is directly related to stroke travel.. in Any reciprocating engine, Not crankshaft speed.
Took my driver's test in one of these!
would run a hundred miles an hour. if you had a ten mile head start. wouldn't pull the hat off your head though
Bom dia! Pra mim é uma honra viu prestigiar seu trabalho, vamos sempre juntos somar e fortalecer nossos objetivos, Conto com você, eu já estou por aqui.
one good ass piece of fire apparatus
Detroit, the dogass of all Diesel engines
Had an old guy used to haul stone for me back in the day had one of these, you were always ready for him cause you heard him comjj in big a mile away👍👍
Too short !!
Nice!
How often they come with Detroit's? Neighbor has a brigader and curious If they commonly have detroits
too bad you're afraid to show the truck. are you ashamed?
Dad gone that buzzer is loud … 👍
That's Music to my Soul 😅
After trucking 23 years. There's no sweeter sound than a detroit!
FACTS
Worst part of this video is the guy holding the phone/ camera sideways.
It is not a bria
It's not a brigader it is 2 old it's a 7500 or 9500 jimmy with a dirty Detroit in it.
Ear candy unless you drove one
My dad had a 671 sounds good but not a whole lot of power
Thank you for not blowing it up like a few morons on this platform.
Beautiful truck in great condition
i have a General with a 8V92 and a Brig with a 671, both sound really good
I had a 1979 Brigadier with a 230 Cummins and a 10 speed Eaton
1:00 yup thats a old detroit! RPMS go up and the fuel gauge just goes down instantly! LOL!
Yep. I averaged 4.4 mpg in my '74 COE White-Freightliner with an 8v-71T 350 Detroit.
Many years ago. There was a dark blue wrecker around that looked & sounded just like this one.Never forgot that sound.Probably mid 70"s.Thanks for the memories.
Now why dont trucks sound like this anymore?
' cause the environmentalists, and computer companies are in 'bed' together..........modern plastic, computerized junk, Stay close to a computerized truck center, with these pieces of rolling hi-tech junk. Gimme an R model Mack, or Superliner with top to the line 8v92, souped up, with modern 18 speed tranny, super bunk with Hot Box, jake brake, Or, older Kenworth W900, same specs, Or Kenworth K-100 cabover, the long bunk version. same other specs. Hendrickson suspension for off-road stuff, ICE ROAD truckers, eat your plastic/computerized garbage...... TMTGW ( Too Much To Go Wrong.....) GO WITH ANY MICHIGAN MAYTAG. 12 LITRE 60 series, or larger 15 litre one....bestus.
Pilot injection
This is a 2 stroke and all modern trucks are 4 stroke.
Good one. In 1983 i drove a GMC General; it had 430 silver detroit. One time, i was leaving from a stop sign, with an A-train load of crude oil. Raining out, and when i released the clutch, drive tires spun, before moving. I am still amazed. Thank-you, sir, for not showing modern computerized plastic garbage, sold and driven as ' trucks '
Peter Sack------That low end torque of a 2 stroke fools a lot of people .
