Backdoor Roth IRA - Simply Done in 2 Steps!
Life is too short for this ride
Tight ass 😂😂😂 l think you should treat yourself you deserve it pay cash 💷💷
I had my 2016 toyota camry 100k miles, but had many issues. Used warrenty which covered $3-4k, and $2-3k of my own after power train expired. Car values was around $8k. Therefore, I just bought another used 2020 Toyota Camry instead.
it's never mathematically viable to replace your car, but there is a value in "this is a pain in the ass" that might justify you replacing.
Thank you for simple and digestable information on this sir!
I would like to make a suggestion for getting rid of an older car that may be uneconomical to repair - donate it! There are many charities that will pick up your car, make repairs to it, then either make it available to a needy person or family, or sell it to generate funds for the charity. That’s what I plan for my 20 year old Corolla. It still has considerable life left in it, but I’m feeling the urge to move on to something newer. I’d get very little for it by selling it myself and I would rather that money go to help support a worthwhile charity.
Legend 😂
Can I deposit the money back into the same IRA account?
Dont let all mechanicals break down on u , every time something happens fix it one time not to wait to fix everything one time plus do mechanical repairs urself cost would just be parts.
love it
I had the same exact car and I replaced everything you said, it forced me to learn how to fix the car myself in order to save money. Best decision I've ever made, I have expanded my mechanical knowledge and the car never gave up but I eventually got tired of the outdated features and I upgraded to a 2007 subaru legacy.
It is always less expensive to keep a car maintained and keep it forever than buying a new car and paying interest on your loan
Buy a used audi, its good for you
There is one major reason to buy a newer car: safety. Newer cars are vastly better if you do have an accident, and they are slightly better at avoiding it, too (especially in terms of managing fatigue). It’s not all about the cost of repair vs replace.
Quick and simple thank you.
bought my first car not realizing it was a 19-year-old car, now it's 20 years old (newbee mistakes?). Replaced these parts for peace of mind, not because they need urgent replacement (Left CV shaft assembly, timing belt kit with water pump - no record when it was replaced, starter motor, rocker cover gasket, spark plugs, rear brakes, rear tyres that were fishtailing in wet highway) - car still runs great, no engine lights, burned 2.5L oil over 6months/5000km - how long should I keep the car to get the value of replaced parts?
Wow i never though of it that way
Will this work on an old stain? (6months)
Great video man! I am like you but I guess you are single and I am marriage. My wife will never understand this so I had to decide between a divorce or a new car!
Divorce.
Niceeeee Thanks!!!!
When I was young I had to fix a few things on old cars but then sold them, but looking back I probably fixed all the faults and could have got another few years out of each one. My advice is drive your car to death and get your moneys worth, after all its only to get you around. Now I have a nice car, a 2006 Forester XT ,15 yo but in excellent condition and it will last another 10 years easily. Happy motoring!
Love the intro...great info as well!
Im 32 with 121k thats pathetic
Wow I’m in the 50 year range and I’m 27 😂
Sad, but most people don't listen. They follow the herd. 🤣
I’m 36 year old and Only have 165k in my 401k. I hope when I retired I could save up to 1 m in my 401k so right now I m trying to put like 12k or may more a year if I can.
great vid and thumbnail LOL answered my question
If you like the car just pay for the maintenance it needs but anything that requires structural fixing time to junk it cause that can rack up a ton of cash same thing with rust damage it can be very expensive and lastly a new engine usually is a deal breaker cause a used one you are banking on it possibly breaking again and you are right back where you started a car you can’t use.
Cars usually rust away in 15-20 years in England but I’m going to try and keep mine for 20 years. When it rots I’ll buy a new chassis etc to keep it going. It is more environmentally friendly to keep things alive than buying new
I got a car that 17 almost 18 no rust except a little spot down by the back driver side door it’s a 4 door car. It can be easily fixed and will be doing that before it spreads the body in good shape couple small dents on the one door a big dent on the driver side quarter panel again can take that off and a body shop might be able to bang it out. Front bumper needs repainting and back bumper clear coat starting to peal. Emergency brake broke and AC stopped working other then that the emergency brake is easy junkyard can help their and the a guy at the shop said AC probably low on charge and a recharge could fix it. Car has 167,000 roughly on it and it’ll hit 200,000 no problem
You're not going to just buy a new chassis now that just doesn't make sense
Convenient to not elucidate USA private debt which is 235 % of g.d.p...this dual debt has not occurred until after 1990s.only period that resembles the huge dual debt of government and private industry is world war two,USA corporate debt was high from retooling for world war two but not at levels of USA coporate debt over 100 per cent of GDP which started after 1990.private debt has a subsystem of USA consumer debt which nothing in USA history of 255 years is in the ball park ..remediation all American citizens within top 5 per cent highest income ( min.entrance wealth/income 20million$) pay no less than 20% for those in top 1% minimum is 50%.Usa private corporations including the only profitable banking and insurance pay no less than 25% tax rate, for consumers debt one time reduction on principal of college loan 50% why because college tuition rates where done thru anti trust they all went up at the same time meaning price fixing..USA annual interest on debt if 500billion plus a year which USA banks and insurance get 66% should be taxed and not tax free as it has been.the USA Treasury should no longer raid social security pension and disability trust funds which they have 3 to 4 trillion after 1986,the USA dept of justice should place medicare, health and Medicaid fraud and theft in it's too 3 priorities after 10 to 15 trillion was unchallenged by dept of justice after 1975 was stolen, frauded and wasted..on Chinese imports heavy tarrifs without exception in all of it's imports until there is irrevocable and unquestionable evidence of Chinese Democracy..cold day in hell before that happens..USA should gladly give up it's empericsl activity it will save money, lives and souls in the USA. Reagan Govt isn't the solution it's the problem. All USA n.p.o.universities should be screened for hidden profitability and government interference..tens of 1000s if USA intellectuals know everything I've written but remained silent..fear of loss of livilhood
Thanks for sharing

The average is irrelevant. Only your balance matters. Starving with a bunch of other people is still starving.
But, the average gives you an idea of how you are doing vs. your peers, but is not necessarily the best measure. I wish the study had given the median value, not the average.
So practical but on point!! I do not like comparing myself to others either since our situations are so different.
I'm 40 and currently have a balance of 114,000 dollars.
I believe you are well ahead of your peers. Keep up the good work!
@@letsnotbefools5860 Turned 41 in July. 5 months after this post that i made and now i'm at 132,000 . 18,000 in 5 months is a great boost.
Currently with 40k at 24 with everything going into a Roth 401(k). I also maxed a Roth IRA for the past two years. Bought a car in cash, and wondering if I should start contributing extra money to an HSA account or more into my brokerage accounts?
Roth is a bad idea for a person your age. The 30% marginal tax that’s going to Uncle Sam instead of into your account would have 40 years to grow, far out stripping the tax liability when you retire.
as soon as i paid off my car, I started saving for a new car
Why?
the 10 year range is sketchy if you are in to 50-59 group
If you are in that age range with little or no investments, yes it is.
Dump this lemon
After it failed a smog check, and was going to need about $1,000 to do the fixes to "maybe" get it to pass a smog check, I actually ended up turning it in to the State of California for $1000 as part of its "cash for clunkers" program.
Scotty Kilmer would say "buy a 1994 celica instead" :)
Or a 2005 Toyota matrix. 😅
Can someone explain to me this logic please - “if you have to put $2,000 for repairs and the car is already old and is worth less than that then it’s better to get rid of it and buy a new one”. It sounds a bit absurd. What’s the point of avoiding a 2k repairs cost in favor of spending 20k or more for a new car? If the result is the same - you get a vehicle that works.
True, the $2k repair may extend the life of your car, but there is no guarantee of how long that life extension will be, nor prevent another very expensive repair elsewhere in the engine. My point is, some times, putting $2k against the price of a new (or newer) vehicle may be a more wise use of money. It is not predictable, of course. Thank you for your comment!
@@letsnotbefools5860 you shouldn’t assume just because a car is newer there will be no big items that can fail too
@@letsnotbefools5860 Well getting a newer car won’t omit you from having repairs. The car parts would more than likely double in cost, plus your insurance would be higher, all while paying off a 20k car note. So while the cost to maintain an older car is more expensive upfront, you’d be saving money long term
I never owned a car, my dream is that my first car lasts 20 years, that way I will have to buy a new one only when I'm in my 40s
That is a smart strategy. Also, when you are in your 40s, you should have a much higher income, plus savings, from which you will be afford a much nicer car..., even the car of your dreams. Thank you for your comment!
Car I have is 17 years old only 3 years away from 20 years and really theirs not much wrong with the car it’s held up okay other then the little things that ware down
Hey I have a quick question what if you reached the max from the company,to contribute your 401k.
Then, open up an IRA, and try to fully fund that.
I have swift 2,51,000 km done more to go 😄
Agreed! Keep it going! Save money!
What year swift
Hello! I like your style! We work hard and we shouldnt waste our effort for just new luxury items. I got a new a car. I am the first owner , ford tourneo courier , Its like a minivan. How many years should i keep it? By the way my other car is hyundai grace and i have it for 23 years, it still goes well! Thanks for wise videos. Keep moving forward!
Of course, my answer to the tourneo courier is...keep it as long as you can! At least, as long as the maintenance and repair costs don't get too high. No reason you can't drive it for a good 15 to 20 years. Keep up on oil changes and hopefully, the life of the vehicle will be long! I appreciate your comment! Thanks!
@@letsnotbefools5860 I appreciate your words! Have a nice day and thank you!
but if it in a traditional or roth makes huge difference
Yes, when it comes to withdrawals, since Roth IRA accounts are NOT taxable, while traditional IRA accounts ARE taxable.
Have an 05 and 15 Corolla. the 05 still runs good. What should I do? 15 is on payments. If I put both on insurance it adds up . The 05 needs about 1k. 05 is high milage. mostly hwy.
Given the information you provided, I think, since you have 2 cars, it may be wise to retire the 05, both to prevent putting any more money into it, and gain the insurance savings. Thanks for your comment!
@@letsnotbefools5860 Thanks. It's on no insurance..and parked. I would have to sink the Grand into it although runs ok .but needs new injectors and rear struts. I had it as backup. you are right more cash out flow on an asset I won't use is not needed. TY.
@@Frank020 just sell the old toyota. clean it up and you ll be surprised you might get $3k for it
@@porschefanatic1049 TY...was going to wait a bit..if stuff gets bad with recession. Once things get better decide. I'm into maximizing resources right now. lol..
Age 50 - $405k saving 8% in a 401k in addition to a 6% company match of stock plus an additional saving of 8% in a separate 401K roth which has around 50k. Plan is to work until 65, feels like I am doing well?
Yes, I think you are doing very well! I am not sure of your investment split between stocks/bonds/other investments, but if you have a relatively smart mix of investment types, you should do just fine! Thank you for the comment!
you are doing very well but you should try to develop a taste for cat food
Wife and I are both 39. We have 900k in retirement accounts. We plan to retire early, around 55, with little to no debt and three kids through college. We started early, saved 15% and invested aggressively.
I think you are in great shape, especially being young, and having such an aggressive withholding and investing strategy. Now, with 3 kids yet to put through college (I assume, given your age), of course the costs of college are the biggest hurdle, and probably the hardest to estimate right now. But, I believe with your resolve, you will be just fine! Thank you for the comment!
Date reference on data?
