I Admitted My Biggest Failure, PUBLICLY
I publicly admitted my biggest failure to everyone in my professional network. I had been hiding my struggles, avoiding people I know, and staying quiet about my setbacks-all because I was afraid of being judged. But I realized that hiding was only holding me back.
In this video, I share why admitting failure and being honest about struggles can help you make real progress. By putting my vulnerabilities out in the open, I’m proving that showing up as you are-flaws and all-can unlock the support and accountability you need to keep going. You’ll also learn practical strategies for embracing vulnerability, including setting deadlines, sharing early, and using honesty as a tool for growth.
If you’re struggling with self-doubt, fear of judgment, or the need to appear "successful" before you’re ready, this video will show you why stepping into visibility can help you break free and reach your goals.
Chapters:
00:00 - The Challenge: Facing My Fear of Visibility
01:24 - Tip 1: Set Deadlines
02:51 - Tip 2: Share Early
04:10 - Tip 3: Be Vulnerable
06:55 - Overcoming Judgment
08:59 - Tip 4: Start Small

      I think I get what you're saying here. But yeah, I know that daunting feeling. And if you set deadlines and don't do anything about, it's becomes a really bad cycle as well. For me anyway, I just hate the feeling of sitting still / not 'doing what I think is right' so eventually that wins out and I'll do just about anything to push through (deadline, small step, anything)

    My process- I ask myself " can I live with not doing this".... I don't really apply this to business exclusively.. but this approach led me to Antarctica. Went from smoker to ultra marathoner, solo sailing, working in the arctic circle, 0 to Rachmaninoff on piano... living and working in Europe... to be fair, the worst that could happen with open ocean single hand sailing is not good.... but, it only hurts while you are dying, I suppose :) Anyway... • @artharrisonofficial
      @artharrisonofficial Місяць тому

      @@noamay I'm a fan of AI in general (but I've always been an early adopter of most tech), but I try to use it not to replace any part of me that's unique (my creativity, my ideas, etc), but just as a way to minimize the stuff I sometimes have to do that doesn't add unique value, but just takes time. I'm not sure what you're thinking about AI and social media -- like replacing yourself entirely so you have a "presence" but don't have to be actually participate?

    • @noamay
      @noamay 28 днів тому

      @artharrisonofficial yes, im looking into building a faceless channel, since I feel filming myself is awkward, but on the other hand I see how important personal branding is, but I get anxiety only thinking about posting on a constant basis... so what I actually mean, that as a content creator, ultimately, posting to social media will dictate how content creators live their lives, they are going to live for the algorithm ultimately. That's scary and sad. And also there is just too much content in general and we will be flooded with more ...I'm not sure it's healthy anymore and if I want to participate in that cycle. I hope you understand what I mean with thinking about it, but then not liking 'the system'.

    I just bingewatched your videos, keep going 😊🎉 i am struggling with looking up too many information / courses etc. and little action for my business, but i know its because of lack of clarity. I think my eularian destiny can be multiple things, so thats confusing. Also you can only spend time, one time and with the overwhelming content i just ask myself why i should add more to this continuous machine. • @artharrisonofficial
      @artharrisonofficial Місяць тому

      Yeah, it’s tough - there is so much content and advice/courses/etc that when you are searching for something, you can end up in a never ending loop. But I’m so excited for you if you’ve found that clarity, or even just a price of it. Honestly, from my experience, you’ll never know how long the path will be, and you’ll never “completely” arrive at your destination (or touch every edge) but that’s okay. As long as you know where you want to be, you’re headed in the right direction.

      1. To be honest, when I posted the video I was (and frankly still am) just figuring things out. I'd have to go back an see, but there probably was a week or two when I didn't meet the goal (but a few others where I went to 3x). To be honest, while it's not really an excuse, they've been tearing up the street in front of my house for like 2.5 months (almost done) meaning the whole place is shaking and loud - some days I can't even record. 3. I don't think the broken heart is going to satisfy you, though -- It either hasn't happened, so I'm extremely good at blocking out any trauma ... maybe something else? 4. How about we start fresh now -- feel free to amend the penalty, and no that one is out there, I'll honour the commitment?

      Love it! I don't know if I've heard that before or not, but with the video as well ... man. I'm not crying, you're crying. "'Cause I love you more than you could know And your heart, it grows every time it breaks I know that it might sound strange But I wish you pain"

      I totally agree. So much of life - from happiness to confidence and maybe even just “being interesting” start with actually liking / being okay with yourself! That’s kind of what this video was all about! - ua-cam.com/video/KG2MMty0N4c/v-deo.html

      That’s exactly my point. I know some of the people who do “more” than me with hobbies and other things might be doing exactly what they want to, so no shade on them. But for me, I think it’s about excepting that everyone wants something different :D

    Art, just curious. What is your goal with creating? You enjoy the process of building a community (what kind)? You appear to have had some major successes. What’s the goal now? Just curious.

      That's a very good, and very timely question. To be completely honest, when I started, I intentionally didn't have, or want to have, a plan -- other than to make videos, share ideas, etc. Now that I've been doing it for 6 month, and basically feel like I'm ready to "start". (I say "ready to start" because I've learned a ton about how this actually works, how to make titles, what I need to improve upon, etc - that I feel like in the coming weeks I can finally take a big leap forward). The end goal is a build a "Circular Growth Ecosystem". Basically, free tools, resources, content, community and more (all free, ideally), that both support the members and create new content and connection ideas. In general, I have a little bit of freedom with my current life, so I want to build a community rather than sell a product. I'm hoping to start here to build a brand, but then my tech and other skills will come in to create some further reach. It's still fuzzy, but over the coming weeks, the content will likely switch to have a little more focus on both Advice (as I have been providing) geared towards some more specific outcomes + me living that advice (or failing) as I actually try to define and build what I just did a poor job of doing in this post. I'm getting excited, but also know it's going to be A LOT!

      Good info. I just started my YT journey and I’m following along other small creators to see what stands out. To me, it’s so interesting that you started and exited a company (I’m into the business space). Starting a channel is a lot like starting a business in that, in the beginning, it’s hard to figure out what to do next, especially if we have no experience to guide us. Personally, I find it hard to shoot, edit, post, etc. consistently because the business and family life just devour my time. Anyway, just wanted to drop a line for support. Keep on keeping on.

      Boo (as in adding to your fear, not booing your comment). Sorry for having to explain it, but something tells me you might not pick up on the nuance. Seriously though, I don’t usually engage with trolls or negative comments, but sometimes it’s just fun. Not sure what brought you here or why you felt the need to comment like that, but wishing you all the best in finding joy (and getting over your fear). If you ever need to talk, I’m around … no judgement

    Don't know if it helps, i loke the split screen inner demon argument visual. Nice job. Definitely something to keep learning for future scripts for a 180° view argument. Ren did a good job presenting the innet argument in a 10 min music video called Hi Ren. Very unique though incredibly artistic. ua-cam.com/video/s_nc1IVoMxc/v-deo.htmlsi=ccjU-5K51UItL7WC

      I think with anything it’s a combination of patience and learning (being willing to say “I don’t know” and asking for help). In my past life, I went from Healthcare Tech to banking/insurance and honestly didn’t know anything. Not only was I a founder (desperate for any form of results), but when I did manage to get someone to talk to me, I had absolutely no idea what they were talking about or what any of the jargon and acronyms meant. The key was to just be a sponge. Most of the time, if you are genuinely curious and just ask, people love explaining things. So yeah, off hand that’s my recommendation, but if you have more specific questions, just let me know - or check out the description and you can just book a time with me any Friday and I’d be happy to talk it out with you (that’s why I do the open calendar Fridays - I love helping and it usually gives me new ideas for future videos - so it’s a win-win :D )

    It is not for everyone , it was not for me. I left my corporate job to be my own boss, i had quick success made 100k in my first year with online marketing and webdesign , i did it for 7 years... I could not handle all the ups and downs and the uncertainty. Ive had months where i made 8-10k a month and then overnight google decides to release SEO update that would tank my income by 70%-80% . Now i am back to being in corporate making close to 100k but i feel alot more secure, even if i do get laid off i know i will have a good shot at finding another job. I have health insurance , 401k, vacation days, pto...things you take for granted . I will continue to do things on the side and hussle but i will always have a steady income until i am set for life because my personality could not handle the uncertainty. One warning i want to give to you is that even when you do make it on youtube YOU WILL NOT be your own boss, you will need to chase the algoritham and while you might be getting views one year your views may tank next year despite you putting in more work and creating better content. If you do some digging there are many channels that used to get millions of views and have millions of subscribers and now they struggle to get 1-2k views per video (EliTheComputerGuy) as an example. Good luck

Like this works for business but also the square root of NBA players score half the baskets???? Great works of art... Albums released... I havnt done any math to verify this but im sure the square root of youtube content creators get half the views.

    Im 24, i run my own business from my barn and im worth ~2.5 million. I started when I was 22 with $2000.... when I left college and started a company in the basement of my parents house... sleeping during the day and working all night because i was trying to avoid my parents...... I still work 14-16 hours a day, dont play video games and basically have no social life. (had a small 3-4 month mental crisis where i only played video games ALL DAY in the winter... oops) I can agree with almost everything you said but you couldnt really believe there was anyone in their 20s who have made it without inheriting a bunch of money. This makes me angry bc its the default reaction i get from everyone. But to your credit I have never met anyone else in my age group like me. And im not really angry at you, its more of youre touching an area of pent of anger i have at people who HAVE assumed that about me. Every, Single. Day. I question myself because I am the only one in charge of myself. There is absolutely no guarantee what im doing at any given time is the best way to make money - its very, very easy to drive yourself insane. I ended up being able to draw an immense about of confidence in my ability to solve problems. Everyone is bad at something when they start. What ive realized with my generation is that noone has the confidence or mindset to start something and be bad at it. "I cant weld" - bullshit, with $1000 and 1-2 weeks welding random scrap steel together for 8 hours a day you can teach yourself to MIG weld enough to get into a company which will teach you the rest. To start your welds might look like dogshit sure, but so does everyones. Theres also a mindset of "everything thats being done has already been optimized as much as it could be so whats left for me to even do?" Well I noticed a lot of people are really stupid which leaves colossal potential for entrepreneurs. The line you said about "realizing noone else around you is actually running" is SPOT ON and a brilliant analogy. You can be damned sure the ones walking are the ones who will laugh at "how silly you look running like that"

    I 100% agree. Most people that are not founders/entrepreneurs don’t understand the long slow grind of turning the wheel of momentum. It’s not until you have the strong momentum and some success or a lot of success when people start to notice you. I saw you and I’m in a similar boat. Building a construction business, building my business brand etc. keep it up. Following along.
