We raised 5 children w/o spanking and they are all very kind, generous, loving adults and love Jesus. Physical punishment (biblical physical punishment) is supposed to be saved for when a person is much older and should know better not as they are learning. (Our American culture would not allow the beating like that.) And teaching yes, ma'am and yes, sir is a very southern teaching.... not looked upon very positively in the North. Yes, please and no, thank you is what my kids learned. Its very important to remember the word 'obey' means 'sh'mah' -to hear or listen. That means for them to be able to obey they need to be able to hear and respond appropriately. If a child can't converse with you yet, the teaching and guidance needs to continue to happen. Remember what the greatest commandment is, Love the Lord with all heart, with all your soul and with all your mind. Matthew 22:36 He wants our heart, once He has our heart our actions will follow. We need to be connected to our children so they will have a tiny glimpse of what a relationship with our Lord can be like. I pray the children that have been parented in this very upside down and backwards way can search and learn a more perfect way to teach their children how to Love the Lord and not just do the actions but really really Love the Lord with all their heart.

Taylor Swift is not saying ALL Christians are judgmental and wrong, her point is that there are Christians who cherry pick from the Bible and aren’t as supportive as you all are. It’s easy to claim to be Christian, it’s harder to actually follow and understand what Christianity really is and that’s what the point of the inclusion of non-loving “Christian’s” in You Need To Calm Down is. I’m sure as Christians you have met others that claim to be Christian but do not follow God’s word of Jesus’ practice or subscribe to beliefs the way Christians like you do. Taylor Swift is in that category too. She has disclosed she is a Christian, and it hurts her to see some “Christians” misrepresent what Christianity is all about- the same thing that you all are discussing in this video. Not hate, just joining the conversation:)
