1984 Düsseldirf
the guitar is similar to Peter Walker's raga guitar instrumentals for vanguard records in the 60's, which were much faster.
Just imagine Joe would have been a COMPOSER also! 🎉
This is a nice grouping of musicians. All play at genius level. Arthur Blythe just kicks ass...no doubt about it!
Sky and Robbie the best komp ever.
brilliant
The only problem with this song is it's too short... more please
i drunk beer with joe in the Philipshalle in Düsseldorf on 13th on septembre 1984 after the concert "Sheffield Steel" - wow wow wow
Sheffield Steel - a must have for every music lover , perfect production!
Love from Brazil!
No drums, based.

Jazz is not about sounding slick , this slunds like a rough diamond the way it should
Awsome

Incredible !
Thanks for posting! I used to feature this track quite heavily in my jazz radio show days, but never owned a copy…such a great vibe..😎
Oh yeah!
NOOO! ITS MONO!!!!
Very nice song.
💮🌱🙄💙
Free Jazz over the Bo Diddley Beat! Great!
Who are the personnel on this session? I'm loving the base and drums. I'm 80. Where has this cat been all of my my life? Sounds as though he and Ornette have been hanging out. Also, this piece reminds of Rollins" East Broadway Run Down.
HI David Antony Ortega - alto saxophone Bobby West - bass Bill Goodwin - drums On 1.5.6 and 8 / January 14, 1967. Antony Ortega - alto saxophone Chuck Domanico - Bass On 2.3.4 and 7 / October 15, 1966.
I love this style. Sounds like it's from another world.
wow
Cool
My dear teacher and friend.
Great album Afrisong, should upload more rom it
Great album
I'm so fortunate to have seen Arthur Blythe and John Hicks play live in a little club called Visiones in the West Village. They were there every Sunday evening back in the day. Miss them both.
This great piece of jazz-rock helped invent the aspect of ambient music in the early '70s. It's a great mix of jazz, rock, classical and elevator Muzak... the great guitarist Robert Quine claimed this to be his all time favorite song (it shows in his style). Quine was good friends with Brian Eno and it was he who introduced Eno to this. Without this song, we would not have the great ambient rock and jazz music of the future!
No dude, look at the germans in the 70, thats where ambient came from.
Hervorragend 🥰
Strangely enough, a group of friends and I met and hung out with Malik before his set at the Half Note in Athens, Greece in the mid-1980s. He was a kind and affable man, and it was more than a pleasure to hear him speak and play.
💝🇦🇩🦋🌹🌹⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ R I P 🙏
brilliant
Rest In Peace Duke Ellington and Miles Davis 🙏🏾
Genial
40年前にこのレコードを買い、何度か聴いたが怖かった。しかしずっと殻だに残っている。超名作だ。
I bought last year ♻️
My favorite alto saxophonist. And a great honor to meet him many years back in copenhagen.
I was a Jazz Vocalist with Jothan Callins for almost a decade. He taught me a great deal about Jazz Music, and the business. As a result of singing with him, I had opportunities to perform with many other well known Jazz Artists. He was also the Musical Director for the majority of my Theatrical Productions. He was truly an extremely talented man.
still love it!!
#jaguzapproved
I hired Arthur and his band to play in a Harvard Square club in 1977 after I heard this album. He was a blast, and a great guy. He swung very hard, as Monk would say.
Merci
I Love Miles Madly
Огонь🔥
I enjoy Joe's songs the same as I enjoy Van Gogh's painting.
So true!😊
Yikes. who was on tabla then?
touchingly beautiful.
Superb
