Review of the T-Motor AS2814 Part 1
T-Motor requested that I review the new AS2814 KV900 motor. I can say I was not disappointed. It performed well on 3s and 4s. This is part 1 of 2. I am designing a plane around this motor. It will be a trainer or bush style plane. I'm really looking forward to testing this motor on the plane.

Update on Spec Wing, Citabria development, and XT-60 caps
Переглядів 786 років тому
Using my 3D printer to make XT-60 caps out of UV reactive PETG filament. I put these on my batteries after they are fully charged so when I'm in the field I immediately know how many batteries I have left and which ones I haven't used yet. If I ever lose one, I can use a black light to easily find them because they glow under UV light. I'm now selling #1.3 white and black EPP foam on my website...
Two AT-6 and one BT-13/SNV1
Переглядів 8187 років тому
On 24 September we had two AT-6 and one BT-13 / SNV1 World War 2 training aircraft land at Honey Acres and then fly over the Clinton Fall Festival parade. I was at the right place at the right time and took some video and several pictures.

Short Clips of 2 - AT6s and 1 - BT13/SNV-1
Переглядів 877 років тому
I had a great opportunity today to take some video and pictures of two AT6s and one BT-13/SNV-1 airplanes that flew into Honey Acres, Clinton, Michigan, today. They parked on the grass runway waiting for the parade to start. They did several passes over the parade with smoke while in formation. This is a short clip of what I am editing to show some friends what I was up to today and also to sho...
Laser CNC engraver
Переглядів 327 років тому
This is an inexpensive 2 watt LED CNC laser I purchased from China. I think I got this back in 2015 to engrave wood working projects. I purchased it from Jack's Store_ on Aliexpress. www.aliexpress.com/store/424291 I had an issue with the drivers. Jack worked with me to ensure everything worked great. I also had an issue with a different product. Jack made good on that too. I highly recommend h...
Plowing Moon's Farm

If you liked the video, please give a thumbs up, comment, and share the video. Also please subscribe. I tried to research how to plow and videos about plowing to get an idea of how to setup the plow and get things to work smoothly. Please be kind with the comments, this is my first time plowing. Since I am in the RC hobby I invited my friends to come film the process from the air.
Sunset over Milan, Michigan, 20 February 2017, using my 3DR Solo.
Переглядів 627 років тому
This is the second time I flew my 3DR Solo. This video was taken at the Vern Campbell park Field of Dreams flying park maintained by the Milan Flyers. Be sure to watch the video in 1080. If there is enough interest, I can repost this in 4k. The song was also composed by me for this video.
Hail storm in February

I was hoping to go fly some Rc stuff today, however this storm delayed my plans.
3DR Solo, first flight at sunset with a rainbow.
Переглядів 677 років тому
This is my first flight with my new 3DR Solo. It was sprinkling off and on all evening. We just purchased 10 acres of land outside of town a few weeks before this flight. This is the first RC aircraft to fly over our new land. I was about to pack up and go when the sun literally popped out of the clouds for a brief moment. I jumped out of my truck and flew for a few minutes to capture this video.
Gyroscopic forces

FPV Brief Case Ground Station
Переглядів 4668 років тому
This is an aluminum brief case ground station that I made over the Summer of 2016. It is very handy and quick to setup. I can store multiple batteries inside along with props, spare antenna, and other things. It's great to setup so other people can view what I am seeing when I look through my goggles. I can also setup a DVR to record off the receiver too.
Flite Test Bloody Wonder Vertical Take Off

Many thanks for the update on this motor. Mine just arrived this morning and can't wait to try. Thanks for the great advice.😊
Thank you. Very useful.
"I wonder what it will do" 😂
Very nice,do you suggest printing these straight up and down,or flat?
I think it is personal preference and where you want to see the detail. I haven't done a lithophane in a while. I personally prefer doing them laying down, however quite a few people suggest standing them on end.
Showed up in YT as new! :) very cool still!
Cool video watching again a few years later.
Thanks! I hope to start doing videos again in the future.
@@WindCatcherRC Talk to you offline I'm curious how you did the text & titles. Pretty cool. The yelling over the motor running was quite hilarious. You really need a David Clark aviation headset/mic for your action scenes.
"This is your captain speaking: we are now going to test the Gens Ace 3s 2200 pack". Sorry, due to budget cuts within the airline, we no longer provide any beer to hold".
Great video, thanks. Can you tell where did you get his Turnigy RPM and Power Meter please?
I purchased the Turnigy Thrust Stand from Hobby King. It appears it is no longer available.
Can this motor use it in drone, too?
Your drone design has a lot to do with which motor to choose. I can not say for certain if this will work or not for your drone.
Do you still have this model?
This was not my model. I think the plane is still flying at the club.
Odlicno
Hello what esc you using Bro? ?
For this video I used what I had available which was a Sky Power 45amp ESC from Heads Up Hobby. Unfortunately, Heads Up is no longer in business. If I had to do this test again, I would get a name brand ESC like T-Motor or Castle. I am working on getting some electronics in stock over the next few months.
@@WindCatcherRC , con uno de 40 A podría usar en este motor ?
Hello just bought the T series one. What do you think of 10/7 prop? 4 s lion 10000 battery
The 10x7 on a 4s should be okay. I recommend using a watt meter to be sure you are not pulling too much current. Also watch your temperatures.
I thought someone was going to waste it. Nice plane, nice flying.
which esc did you use for this motor...???
The ESC I used for this test was a 45amp made by Sky Power. If I did this again, I'd use a better name brand like T-motor or Castle. There are others too.
Awesome model, but please take those dang cartoon wheels off of it!!! Absolutely silly looking.
Awesome video!🔥❤️☕️
Just too cool!!!!!
Hi, please, do you advise that engine? Did you have any problem with that engine? I will build a stearman 1/5.5 and that engine is for that scale, and I would like if that engine is a good engine, I ll apreciate your advice thanks
This was not my plane. I don't know much about the engine. I'm an all electric guy myself. I took the video at one of our local clubs. I suggest getting on some of the facebook groups or RC forums and ask for advice from those who are more educated about these type of engines than I am. Good luck!
do you still own this plane? I bought the same plane and engine from a guy in lansing Michigan about 6 months ago
This was not my plane. It was owned by a club member from the Adrian, MI, club. I don't know if he still has it or maybe you just bought it. haha I have to say it was beautiful to see him fly it and hear it run.
@@WindCatcherRC it ended up being wrecked and not repaired not very well I pulled the engine off sold it I'm putting a saito gas radial on it, and am in the process of doing dual elevator and repairing it better
It’s a brave (or stupid) man that sits in front of a prop while giving it full revs!!
Nice!!! Do you think a Saito 325 radial will be too much for this plane at 53cc? Or even the ASP/Magnum 400 (65cc). I have seen an Aeroworks fly with a Saito 325 and this Maxford seems to be on the sale scale as that one.
I honestly don't know a lot about liquid fuel motors. I am an all electric guy. I really enjoying seeing what other people do with gas/nitro stuff. All that being said, I think the motor they used on the PT-17 in this video was a little under powered. The plane had enough power for level flight, but not enough for acrobatics. I hope that helps.
Wind Catcher RC thanks and that feedback is good.
im guessing he propped it over by hand a time or too before taking his electric starter to the engine. if a cylinder hydrolocked itll bend a rod for sure
nice flight. Here's a movie on my PT17 with a UMS 7-35. remodeled with a carburettor from Saito 120r3. They work very well ua-cam.com/video/C9ndgUXouvU/v-deo.html
Good Job! We will share your video with our customers. By the way, the wingspan of Maxford USA 1/5 PT-17 is 77", not 51".
Thank you for sharing and thanks for the updated information on the wingspan. I'll correct that in the description.
nice plane glad you didn't turn it into splinters :D
awesome! almost have mine done.
Good luck with yours! I hope it works out for you. Let me know if you need EPP foam. :)

Thanks for sharing that! What is the software trick you mentioned to do tapered wings?
iCrash are you following my flitetest build log on it? Will post today in that spot
I'll take a look at it. That will be an interesting thread, I'm sure! Thanks for letting me know. Go ahead and link it here in case other people are interested too.
I can't believe how deep it cuts
actually, I couldn't plow as deep as I needed to because the tractor tires were slipping in the wet clay. It is supposed to go down to 14". I think that day I was getting between 6-8".
he making an rc airport?
Yep, that is going up after the house and pole barn are built out there. :)
It's a great video. I love it.
Where was this was this in Rogers park or Chicago
this was in Michigan in February. It was a nasty day! I could hear the hail coming. I had enough time to go back into my house, get my iPhone, and then start recording.
Nice music and nice video. Now I know that the earth is round. :)

Wow!! It is so nice.
Hey , nice case!!! great winter project . Just one question , power on the RX without the antenna , is this ok ? I heard that this could burn your Tx if you do this , is this different with a Rx ?
For a receiver, there is no problem to have an antenna attached or not. A transmitter is different, if there is no protection circuit to attenuate the power you can burn things up. The only time you need to worry about no antenna on a receiver is when there is an active amplifier between the antenna and receiver. Unless you are running a very specialized custom build you do not need to worry about it. As far as I know all of our FPV receivers are passive, which means there is no amplifier between the receiver and antenna. Hope this helps answer your question.
nice!
neat!
That's a nice flight envelope. Dial those ailerons up and you'll have one maneuverable bird.
Thanks RKRC. I made version 3 of this prototype last week and flew it on Friday. I am working on the video right now and hope to have that up by early next week. I made the ailerons twice as wide and now I feel it is perfect. The plane on low rates is mild and easy to fly for anyone with some experience. On high rates it loops tight and rolls nice. She slows way down for easy to control slow passes. On a 1300mah - 3s battery I can get about 7-8 minute flights. Overall I'm very happy with the latest version.
Sounds perfect!
I reviewed the file today. I found that the cut path did not follow the contours of the wing I had in Sketchup. This is probably due to a mistake a did in sketchup while designing. I have to setup the wire cut path before I start modifying stuff like giving the wing a face and installing servo pockets. My best guess is that I setup a wire cut path and then at some later time changed the wing position, angles, and what ever else. I certainly learned a lot with this first cut.
