The ending makes no sense. Later in my life that ending made me appreciate Mushoku Tensei more. Because where Domestic Girlfriend failed us, Mushoku Tensei shined.

I just finished the series. I know this video is hella old, but I'm team Rui. I am going to try to organize a movement for Rui lmfao. I'm aiming for a love triangle ending, which I believe the girls are both emotionally mature enough for. Yes, it is a fucked-up relationship, but news flash, the entire series is fucked up relationship after fucked up relationship. Now matter how late to the party I am, I will not forsake Rui..her character was flawed, but hell, she was growing up. To this day I am still flawed, and constantly working on it.. People criticize Rui a lot, but to me she was every bit the FeMC that Hina was. She deserves a happy ending in this story. Yes, it is written as if she is content with her daughter, but the writing also implies she still loves Natsuo. The Chef boy is the closest alternative, but Rui has already stated she doesn't see him like that. Even if she did, that would be settling for her because the chef boy isn't her first choice.

Even a side character has more interesting story than most isekai in mushoku tensie especially in LN its so deep the most deep anime i have watch only problem is the romance💀 kinda can turn off people.

I was in team Rui at first but ended up hating that character so much that can't explain...Miyabi and Hina r one of the best characters so far ngl. And writer literally destroyed Miyabi's character...and Hina, she is the one who loves Natsuo most, she is the who one sacrificed most, she is the one who suffered most. She was carrying huge pain with fake smile. The ending was shittest ending lol.

I pick up this manga thinking its just dumb stuff like rent a girlfriend. But it gives me mature themes, and tackles it beautifully. Youd know the author really think a lot about this manga, because she cares enough to draw their hair growing every chapter. I watch way more anime than manga, but this is the only manga that made me cry. I dont care what anyone says but really like the ending, considering with how the characters have been through. And Im team hina all the way, I admire her determination to stick with natsuo all the way even if she wont get an answer back, and she never take advantage of her sister. As an older brother myself I aspire to be like her

I just finished the manga and I can agree about the ending part bro ever since rui started liking natsuo she cared about him she helped him in a lot of ways and I was rooting for rui when she broke up with him for the first time I was going to drop the manga but no I kept reading it then they became lovers again and she became pregnant I thought wow so rui is finally ending up with natsuo But no she had to go in a coma and the boss had to tell them how she felt about natsuo and they gave up rui literally lost to a fu ckin vegetable like common

Huh I just don't get the point team rui yeah things bw them was settled and could've been smoother if they get married but but what happens if Natsuo get to know all the deep feelings of hina the 1st love , he couldn't have helped but gnaw his whole life and feel guilty the both of them natsuo and rui.. And I personally never end up with team rui bcz 1.She left him with a horrible reason at his worst time 2.When I see she never intended to tell natsuo that hina still has something for you when both sisters talked at oshima and then she later start clinging with Al half harted to only feel natsuo jealousy I lost it, b!tch actually stole him for hina and incecure all the time of karma, and if she didn't make that decision in the end the guilt would've chased her for entire life..

i didnt even get into this for the plot, i started with the Anime cuz the opening was amazing, anime felt like it left alot so i read the manga, Kei Sasuga (a she) did a truly amazing job making this story, nothing but emotions, Rui's character development throughout for this actually made me cry, all three of them were great but Rui actually reminded me of myself due to my old passion for cooking and her personality, honestly i could never bring myself to look at them with lustful eyes which was so weird honestly, Yes Rui shouldve won i was always that way, but Hina still was also great, but Rui and Natsuo just felt better

Man, your words about people that hate the ending just not being from the target audience are so true! I personally loved this manga from the very beginning to the very end. All characters are so alive, their development is so good, and the story too. Even talking about main characters, I personally changed my attitude towards them not once, they unfold more and more in different situations. People, who think that characters of this manga act weirdly or out of character, are just wrong. They probably for some reason can't even understand the feelings, the motives and the amount of resolve needed to do something the characters do (or that is just lack of empathy). They just don't care about anyone except their favorite girl even if she builds your relationships with her on lies, replaces your true feelings by surrogate and makes you believe that it is "true love", then hurts you again and again, not believing you, contriving stupid shit in her head, or getting jealous all the time, or severely limiting the time together as a couple, stomps on yours and other's feelings almost always (even in the crucial moments), finally abandons you at the worst possible time and then keeps using you again. it's so weird to me. I feel like they just didn't experience any of that in real life, and didn't feel loved at least slightly similar as Natsuo loved by Hina (yeah, he doesn't realize it until the very end, it is the most unrealistic thing by the way, how can he act so mature and cool with side characters, helping their lives and so on, but just lets Hina suffer more and more, the girl he loved so much and still loves to be completely honest, just hiding it deep down even from himself). I had such a great time reading it. I couldn't switch to anything from the start, and now, when I've already finished it, I can't switch to anything either... P.S.: 8:42 ....oh. I see. For me it was the opposite. I was team Rui from start to ~160+ chapters (and I wished Hina happiness with Shuu to be honest), then Rui just slowly wither as a main characters and in 215 chapter just killed herself forever. Hina on the other hand started to thrive more and more as a person in the second half of entire manga, going through the toughest events with courage, enormous amounts of resolve and willpower, and pure love to Natsuo. Stop treating her as a decoration, she is the greatest girl. Maybe just Momo would be better if Natsuo chose her, but she found her happiness in the better way, so I am really glad for her.

Read the manga first, and as much as I loved it, it definitely loses points over that ending. And I agree that the anime was forced to drop so much material to try to cram everything into 12 episodes and still arrive at a reasonable breaking-off-point, but it was still very good. I'm happy that Hina got her happy ending, I'm just not happy about what it took to get it. Rui deserved her happy ending, too, and I feel that she cheated herself out of it by stepping aside.

I actually love this series but my gripes is that they should have more episodes to flesh out the characters more in particular the mom. Soundtrack is a banger, and I hope this series gets more recognition in the future. Strong 8 out of 10. Still so far made in abyss season 2 is my anime of the year
