How do I get started?

It's very good to know that Atlanta Housing is changing its course for the better! I would never forget how ATLANTA HOUSING didn't do more to help me and my family find a place when no one would accept their vouchers in the city of Atlanta! I ended up losing my voucher all together. Got the voucher back in 22 with the help of Atlanta legal aid, and still couldn't find a place! That absolutely left me and my family homeless to this day! I reluctantly ended up splitting up my kids to live elsewhere! I was devasted, and became very depressed and detached. Then I figured out that Atlanta Coordinated entry program aka Atlanta Gateway, is nothing more than a revolving door to further homelessness. They only have beds for men, while the women and women with children are always sent back out into the streets to live! Just go downtown Atlanta by the parks. I still have books from the first Housing Choice Initiatives back 2010 or 2012. I would have never expected to have became homeless again after reaching out to the staff responsible for assisting us with finding a place when it gotten difficult to find a place back then. Some of the staff members attitudes were so horrible, a lot of people assumed that their work positions were for a lifetime and to complain about not getting help only kept the phones hung up in our faces or rejected, denied any type of intervention at all. It's a great thing to have these types of programs for current participants but years ago when I requested a voucher to move from a freshly created, drug, sex trafficking, gang hot spot and drug infested areas, I never would have imagined that moving from that place would have caused hardships on my family the way that it did! Congratulations on the new directions at the expense of ignoring the plight of so many single moms like me!
