90% are ems calls..hahaha what a shame.
Been that way for years across the board at dual-role departments. I worked for Dallas FD for 20 years and even back in the early 00's it was mostly EMS. You'd get stuck riding the box for like 5 years until you could promote up or get senior enough to bid an engine or truck.

I mean, the academy is a para-military based academy. So, to fit the mold, and to get used to fitting gear properly, it's best to be uniformed.

If I was going to join any dept, it would be NLVFD. My Grandfather spent 26 years with NLV Fire. Congrats to all of the new FF. Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout, And quickly and efficiently to put the fire out."
