    Hi Scott, Just wanted to ask how does the stability of the Rush compare to the BP Deluxe? Thanks!

    • @CurlingStore
      @CurlingStore 3 дні тому

      I think the stability is comparable. The Rush has a reinforced midsole that adds additional support in the middle that helps prevent twisting in the middle of the shoe. Some people like the Delux because it has a stiff midsole which can help prevent drifting. Not sure I would notice this but I have heard this feedback from competitive curlers. Both shoes have comparable 1/4" sliders so the speed would be similar. The fit and feel between the two shoes is totally different. The Rush is more like a sneaker and the Delux is a shoe with top grain leather inside and outside. Both are top of the line shoes.

      Just got the new harder foam a week or two ago. We’ve used it for a few games and so far like it a lot. Very similar in feel to the Hardline Competition foam. While both brooms are great we prefer the BalancePlus because it is the lightest broom available. Haven’t seen the new stiffer Goldline foam yet. Hopefully soon

    We don't change the Pads because the replacement pads are ridiculously expensive.

    • @CurlingStore
      @CurlingStore 2 місяці тому

      The have gotten less expensive over the last few years with most suppliers offering heads with cover replacement that are less than $20 but you need a newer broom to benefit from that. I guess it depends what you are trying to get out of your sweeping. If it doesn't matter that much or they are not affordable then no need to change them, but if you are looking for performance, a worn out pad isn't doing much for you other than moving dirt out of the way. I usually go through 2-3 heads per season playing twice a week which ends up being about $1 per game.

      We are working on new videos for the upcoming season which will include the Momentum Dash/Dart/Charge shoes. The sole and slider on the shoes are the same as the Rush. The upper is a little different aesthetically and includes a lace cover. The main difference is the fit. The Dash shoes fit wider than the Rush in both men's and women's.

    Shoes wear out in one season. Toe cover on trailing foot wears out .

    • @CurlingStore
      @CurlingStore 8 місяців тому

      With all sneaker style shoes (and most curling shoes) there are several preventative things you can do to prevent wear. Even though these shoes appear to have a coated toe, the toe is still soft and should be toe coated. We recommend toe coating to prevent wear in all curling shoes. Avoid moving stones with the sides of your shoes. The side of a curling stone is like sandpaper and will cause damage to the sides of the shoes. If your feet sweat a lot it is best to remove your insoles after the game to allow your shoes to properly dry out. The 704's are one of our best selling and affordable 1/4" shoes. We have had very little negative feedback on the shoes and have been selling them for 3 years now.

    Does the pro covers have diffent effectiveness based on the pad color?

    • @CurlingStore
      @CurlingStore 9 місяців тому

      The Sportlite Plus covers are only available in orange or yellow bottom and there is no difference in performance as the material is the same. There is a difference between WCF approved covers for this broom vs the regular club play Sportlite Plus. The WCF approved covers, are less effective, wear out faster and cost more. They should only be used when required generally at events that lead to a Canadian Championship.

    I'm kinda surprised these other companies can make a broom head like this since it is basically a direct copy of the hardline. Unless they didn't patent their design initially before public disclosure of it.

    • @CurlingStore
      @CurlingStore 9 місяців тому

      My understanding is that the patent lapsed. I'm not 100% on that but that's what I've heard. How the head attaches to the broom is quite different. The only real copy is the closed cell foam and the cover.

      Thanks for the comment. I haven’t had any issues with the Velcro on either the slider shoe or the gripper shoe. The Velcro is industrial grade and sticks very well especially after you stand on them. My only advice is to avoid the boot boy cleaning machine with your gripper foot if your club has one. The brushes can pull the gripper off of the shoe.

    I run the store for the Albany Curling Club and do toe coats, so I get to see lots of different shoes. I've found the BP 703 to be of surprisingly poor quality with the upper vinyl tape often peeling at the edges and the toe coat seems to be a thin fabric tape that wears through quickly. If you're looking for a sneaker-style shoe, the Goldline G50 series is much better quality.

    • @CurlingStore
      @CurlingStore Рік тому

      Thank you for you comments and feedback Lisa. I definitely agree about the toe coat and we recommend adding Toe Coating to these and most other sneaker style shoes because they have a softer toe vs traditional leather upper curling shoes. The factory “toe coat” doesn’t really function as a toe coating. We’ve sold many pairs of both the 703’s and G50’s and overall feedback is positive. I’ve had a few issues with each but that is normal with all curling shoes.

    What is the best way to maintain a 1/4" teflon slider? Cleaning and repairing any scratches? Thanks

    • @CurlingStore
      @CurlingStore Рік тому

      Leave it alone. Aim to have your slider only touch the ice as much as possible. Teflon doesn’t wear out in my opinion. You will develop surface scratches over time but those don’t impact performance. Keep the slider covered with a gripper when in the lounge area. Never use sandpaper on the bottom of the slider as it will ruin it. You could probably clean it with warm water and a cloth that is non abrasive but I’ve never cleaned mine outside of wiping it with my glove before I go on the ice.

    Just bought these with the 1/4" 11 slider. They are an extremely comfortable shoe to wear. I had my doubts about the "velcro" attachment, but they seem fine and I have not experienced any problems whatsoever. As a note, I had to size up a 1/2 size for a proper fit (11 > 11.5).

    • @CurlingStore
      @CurlingStore Рік тому

      Thanks for the feedback Paul. So far the reviews I've had have been very positive. While I know some are nervous about the Velcro, I am a fan because it is very easy to change the gripper pods vs grinding and reglueing for a glue attached gripper. I tried to get the sliders off these new Goldline's and it is very difficult to pull them off with your hands. I think I agree with you on the sizing vs the Goldline Cyclone even though the upper looks identical. I think part of it is that the insole in these Rush shoes is thicker and that makes the shoe a little smaller. I must have sold 20-30 pairs by now and no issues. My only caution would be to avoid moving the curling rocks with the sides of your shoes as the fabric can be damaged as a result of doing that. Thanks!

      That’s a tough one. The Goldline broom is very new. So far I have had positive feedback on the broom. It does have some nice features and is similar to the Hardline is many ways. The replacement covers are less expensive, the broom is less expensive, and it is lighter. Those are positive. On the other side the Hardline broom is definitely the most popular broom among competitive curlers and is our best selling Carbon Fibre broom. Many of the top teams in the world use it and it has a track record of success. We’ll have to see who comes out on top. I’d give Hardline the edge at this point until we can get some more data on the Goldline but I don’t think you can go wrong with either option

    How doe toe coats compare to toe caps?

    • @CurlingStore
      @CurlingStore 3 роки тому

      Hi Colin, basically the same thing. Toe Caps used to be a hard plastic cap that was added to the toe to prevent wear. You don’t see them very often anymore. Toe coating is an epoxy that hardens but still has a little flex.

      @@curlingfan6339 Wow I thought you guys just stopped posting, that's great. I have a question, I want to start curling competitively in u18 bonspiels and stuff what would be the best shoes to hold up to a curler like me who curls for hours on end 4-5 times a week. I'm also interested in the best broom for competitive curling or if it is all the same because you have to use the specific fabric. Thank you

      @@matthewlannoye hi Matthew. In terms of durability the BalancePlus Delux is the most long lasting shoe. I’ve seen pairs 20+ years old. They are a little heavier than some of the newer sneaker style models if you are a front end player and prefer something lightweight. The Goldline Cyclone or BalancePlus 704 are better for lightweight. You should use a 1/4” slider for sure if you are playing that much. To avoid premature wear on your shoes remove the insoles if they are wet after your games and don’t move rocks with the side of your shoes. Side of the stone is like sandpaper and will damage the upper of the shoe. For brooms my pick is the BalancePlus Lightspeed as it is the lightest. Hardline is our most popular though for competitive curlers. The Lightspeed is 25% lighter and the competitive heads are basically the same so I believe lighter weight is an advantage. Let me know if you have additional questions

    I am a curler that toe slides/Tucks so when I slide, I'm in the top of my toe. Will the goldline cyclone shoe bend to accomodate a toe slide?

    • @CurlingStore
      @CurlingStore 4 роки тому

      Hi Jack, with the split and hinged front slider the Cyclone will accomodate a tuck slider. Gunnlaugson's team was using the red version of this shoe during the season and in the Brier and they are tuck sliders. I am not aware of any issues with this.

    Hey. Weird question, but for the one in the middle, which end do you consider 'the front'?! Just seen MacAulay in the Brier using exactly the same stabilizer that I use, except he has it the other way around as he delivers!

      I have been curling for 44 years and started using the (middle) stabilizer when it first came out in 1999. I love it. I use it the opposite way that MacAulay uses it, and personally think it's whatever feels comfortable for you. I have converted 4 people over the last 2 years!!

    • @CurlingStore
      @CurlingStore 4 роки тому

      There is no right or wrong way to use it. I use this Stabilizer and I use it with the T facing the skip. As long as you make your shots I don't think it matters :)

      @@CurlingStore I was told that the T-shape should be in front--not sure exactly why, but I suspect that may have something to do with where one places one's weight on the stabilizer handle...Anyway--having moved to the stabilizer two seasons ago, my knees feel much better! And, I find I can throw bigger-weight shots more consistently than I ever could with standard broom delivery, so I am a convert!

    Good descriptions but when discussing clothing features it is customary to pick up the item and show what you're talking about. It seemed like you were afraid to touch them. Another nice feature would be an actual woman modelling them in the video, walking and perhaps bending, so potential customers can see how the pants move.

      Thank you for the feedback. This was our first kick at the can with pants so we will look to improve on them going forward. Black pants aren't the easiest item to showcase on a video. We will keep your feedback in mind going forward.

    nice video , BUT for average club curlers with limited budgets for expenses on buying brushes , the catch phrase mentioned 'it may be extra money upfront you pay for the initial brush, and replace heads ARE SUPPOSED to be cheaper in price than traditional other ones. so you SAVE $$$ in the long run is a great advertising pitch here .....unless you know a fellow curler using one of these and they can tell you it is worth it , you are sort of gambling whether this brush is a keeper

    what about how the shoes actually work? I slide on my toes, does the slider hinge? So many unanswered questions for what could have been the best curling show video online.

    • @CurlingStore
      @CurlingStore 5 років тому

      Hi Chris, thank you for the feedback. We focus more on the slider specifics in the individual shoe videos as each shoe is a little bit different. I'll be shooting some new videos this year so will keep this in mind. I try to put as much info as possible into the videos while keeping them at 3 minutes or less. Almost all sliders are split and hinged now (except Hardline/Asham disc shoes, and shoes with very thin sliders) and will accommodate both a flat foot and tuck delivery. Check out some of my other videos if you are interested in a specific model as more detail is provided around the slider. Scott

    Is asham and hardline owned by the same company or is there a deal between the companies?, i was just wondering because i noticed that the hardline shoes use the asham rotator technology.

      Not the same company but Asham makes the shoes for Hardline. It does use the rotator disc system.
