Royal Enfield Interceptor 1000 mile review
Переглядів 3,1 тис.Рік тому
This video is my opinions on the RE Interceptor 650 after 1000 miles. I ramble on for a bit and also talk about some future plans.
Very weird. We used to go to Bridgeport as teens in the 80s to buy beer and coke. I never heard of this. But we did hang in seaside park. I sure don't miss ct though.
I spent time out there some 20 years ago when many of the homes were still occupied on a seasonal basis. (post bridge closure) The only way to get there was walking the 2 miles from up the coast or by boat. (docks on the inlet / bay side) Got a chance to explore the ruins of the merry go-round, the bumper cars, the playhouse, etc. I also took pictures through the windows at some of the abandoned homes. It's interesting that the area had both city water and power. Obviously, the radio station needs power. Some of the homes dated back to the 20s / 30s and some were as late as 50s vintage, but most were left "as is" and never ungraded through the time when the city cleaned everything out. As a side note, the homes were privately owned, but the city retained the property, and you rented the land. (99 year lease) I suppose this was done as a controlling issue, instead of zoning regulations. My brother knew one of the owners and sublet a home for the cost of taxes / rent. He also had a boat locally so easy to get there. BTW, it's amazing how quiet it is out there but that also means you can hear traffic on Rt 95 a mile away (all night) and the sun comes up over the water (sky getting light) around 4 am, which kills the idea of late party nights with most of the residents. You do it once or twice and learn pretty quick that it's hard to sleep late while there. Another interesting tid-bit was that "swing bridge" was originally from a RR up the coast (mid 1800s vintage) and was moved there back in the day then road sections were constructed to tie it all together. The bridge itself was still functional after the fire but it was left open to deter people trying to cross the burned-out sections on foot.
@@rupe53 oh wow! That’s really interesting! Thank you so much for that info I never knew those details. I really wish I explored there when the homes were still up. Such a unique place and history.
@@Nick_ADV BTW, there was one couple trying to live there in the winter, using electric heaters. The biggest issue is the water being shut off around Turkey day till near Easter. Obviously, they did a lot of walking with water bottles and maybe catching rain. I'm sure some of it was just stored before the water was shut off. Probably ok in the long run if boiled.... but still, that's a hard life!
Dont go anywhere near there after dark on a summer night. Vampire crackheads prowl. How the f*** they get across the water I have no idea.... but they do.
Lordship shout-out 😅😅😅
@@moetimski9767 nice! I love Lordship. Im over in the South End
Wow.. Brings back memories.. Sad that old bridge burned down..
It's speculated that stray smoking material was discarded from a passing car and probably caught bird nesting on fire within the old timbers supporting the bridge.
Interesting, I used to work at Sikorsky on South Ave in Bridgeport and you could see that area but never knew the information.

That's not too far from what they call the Gold Coast ... just down the road a bit.
Amazing local history video! Thanks for telling us the story of that place. Can only imagine what a fabulous area it was back in the day! Many of us long for those days to come back, but we know they never will-and that’s kinda sad. It must have been a great way to socialize outdoors right on the water’s edge smelling the salt water from the Long Island Sound. Enjoyed your casual walkthrough and narration. Am sure you remember Savin Rock in West Haven. They don’t make them like that anymore looks like. Guess when factories started closing workers couldn’t afford entertainment venues like that anymore. Still nice to preserve memories of those times. Well done!
@@dolittle6781 thank you so much! I really enjoyed making this and looking into the history of the area. It would have been amazing to visit in its height.

@zacherypickering: He may live somewhere like India where even second hand Interceptors are costly in comparison to average annual income or he may just have other priorities right now. That, to me, doesn't mean he/she isn't a bike person. A little consideration before posting might not go amiss...
Absolutely gorgeous bike brother. I’ve got a ravishing red 650 and I love mine too wish it sounded a lot like yours though.

Can we fit this exhaust to shortgun 650 ?
@@anjanaarya9637 im not too sure. I know it fits on the Continental GT. If you look on the Tec Bike Parts website it should say.

Oh wow thats awesome! I would have loved to see it when it was up and running. Looked like a beautiful place from the pictures. And I agree it is a shame how it ended up.
Bridgeport was a significant industrial center up til the early 60's, then, like 936 other cities, it was destroyed by Democrats. Bridgeport is now the east-coast Detroit.

Like that color man. Mine is a Grey 2016 SR5 4WD access cab with 47k on the odo. 1 previous owner and dealer serviced. I feel I was fortunate finding it. Checked every box. I live in Iowa so I had to get the chassis sprayed/undercoated as the salt etc here during winter is gnarly
@@AR47X420 thats awesome man thats really low mileage for a 16. Great find.
@@Nick_ADV 👊 🤙 can you recall if you mentioned whether or not you change your transmission fluid at a particular interval? Considering changing mine at 50k as well as the diffs and transfer case what are your thoughts on that?
@@AR47X420 yup i believe I did the differentials at 40k because I was going on a cross country trip the following week and wanted to make sure they were good. Transmission fluid I did at 50k. All pretty straightforward to do. I think i watched a UA-cam video on it first and its easy with the right tools.

I agree with the Polaris, its a snowmobile with tires. Same with these weird 3 wheel batmobile looking things. You might want to find a Yamaha FJR1300.
@@rwl8150 yup! And yeah I’ve always heard great things about the FJRs. And they go for decent prices used too

one of the lil electrical boxes behind the airfilter box near the battery that leads upto ecu from the battery is the problem, It's not the fuel injector. It's a well known problem and a 10$ fix.
Good to know. Thank you! I’ll check it out asap
@@Nick_ADV it's called the interceptor fuse box problem ! I forgot what it was called 🙊 I guess they used a cheap one 😅 It causes issues with starting.
@@shadow_realm47 not surprised haha. At least its a cheap fix tho
@@Nick_ADV I want to defend them since I'm Indian as well but reality of the situation is that with Royal Enfield you have to learn 3-5 of these lil niggles out of the factory for every single bike. They make the least "quality" product out of our Indian big 4. For more contexts Bajaj builds KTMs and Triumph✨, TVS makes BMWs🤌🏾 and Hero will build all the sub 900cc Harleys going forward. Royal Enfield has the best marketing but least quality control out of all of them. I ride a Yamaha but I've been around Enfield problems all my life 😂 Yamaha best 😋
@@shadow_realm47oh wow I never knew that. I heard some stuff about certain KTM and BMW motors are starting to be built in China with CF Moto. But yeah I agree with you on Royal Enfield having the best marketing! Im also new to them and have heard that they have come a long way and quality has been much better now than with the older bikes.
you should do aesthetic mods on it to get the juices flowing and get outta the rut you're in....
это по итогу хороший байк?
Its not terrible but it is lower quality than the Japanese bikes.
Love the setup, and the way it sits. Perfect height for me. Very reliable Thanks for sharing!

Hey all. I just put on the TEC 2-1, and they strongly recommend that you keep the baffle in. I'm wondering if anyone here has ridden a while without the baffles and if you have had any issues. Thanks!
Yup they do say in the instructions that they advise you use the baffle. I chose to not run it and run the risk. I’ve done about 2000 miles with the pipe open and haven’t noticed any issues so far. It just sounds so good lol
@@Nick_ADV that’s all the excuse I need! Yeah it sounds sooo much better without the baffle
why is that?

Lifetime warranty?? How
The Toyota dealers here offer a lifetime warranty on the powertrain as long as you have records of being up to date on service
It’s a damn good truck as long as you get a tune if its an automatic
I noticed along with the 2-1 exhaust you removed some parts from the bike. Specifically the cross bar on the handle bars caught my attention. How difficult was it to remove and any issues with vibration or handling with out it? I have a 2022 Interceptor and was thinking about removing mine.
The cross bar I actually removed after I noticed it vibrated loose and was crooked on the bars. It was fairly easy to get off. The two clamps i did have to pry open with a long flat head in order for them to clear the bar. I knew I wasn’t going to reuse it so I didn’t mind. As far as vibrations I haven’t noticed any change at all. I actually like the look of the bars much more without the cross bar.
How can I get that Toyota technical sticker? Did you make yours?
I googled “toyotas of war sticker” i think the site that had them was called Redbubble or something similar
My 97 has 341k. It i's currently in a 'trusted' Toyota shop for a new clutch to replace original clutch parts, a leaky steering rack and some front end parts that are definitely aged. Made a long AF cross country trip from Chicago to top of lower Michigan all the way to key west Florida and up the east coast to Quebec city, to fort Kent Maine all on the back highways. and then back to the western Midwest with a leaky rack
Holy shit 341k out of the original clutch. I could only hope for mine to last that long
@@Nick_ADV it could probably go quite a bit further, since its not slipping at all yet, just the bearing chatter has become louder and more constant! its mostly a highway truck so the clutch pedal is not used much for long periods
Well the reason for them not giving Pirellis as stock has to do with the heavy import tax our Government (Indian) started imposing on Foreign made tyres. Also, our government made it mandatory for foreign tyres to pass some certification to sell in India, which are quite cumbersome. RE probably thought it'd be more convenient to switch to an Indian made tyre.
It definitely makes sense for them to do that
