Indeed, there are absolutely _no_ Biblical references to “tongues” that do not refer to, and cannot be explained in light of, real rational language(s), ‘Tongues’ (read, *‘languages’* ) - the divine gift, is the God/Holy Spirit given ability to effortlessly learn to speak and be understood through real-language barriers. It is not xenoglossy (as many people incorrectly assume), nor is it the self-created non-cognitive non-language utterance of what certain Christian denominations are producing today (modern tongues-speech). _Nowhere_ in the Bible is modern tongues-speech advocated or evidenced.

That’s why you shouldn’t ‘repent’ about speaking the truth. If you have a couple beers with the guys, it’s not a sin unless you’re convicted about it. Honestly, there’s so much freedom in Christ and people still yoke themselves down with rule after rule after rule. Most of the time, these rules aren’t even scriptural. You are right. No where in scripture does it say drinking alcohol is a sin, but getting drunk surely is. Paul even told Timothy to drink alcohol to help with stomach issues. I would say that if you are in a group of people that are former alcoholics and you bring an ice cold 12 pack to them and it tempts them to go back into that lifestyle, that’s wrong. Know your audience. You drinking a few beers every now and then with family or others who are mature in the faith? Not a big deal. No need to apologize. I don’t think less of you. If you previously were a raging alcoholic and then stopped, it might be a ‘sin’ to you to drink alcohol. If you have freedom in Christ, there’s no need to apologize. If you’re on here to help people, help them realize the freedom that is possible if they surrender their lives. It isn’t rule after rule after rule. It saddens me to see you cower, apologize, and delete videos instead of being more like the example of Paul (who you rightly quoted here). You say you’re scared of losing viewers; so what? You speak the truth and everything else will work out for the glory of God.

I want to join you, brother! When I was born again 3.5 years ago, I wanted to give up everything: tv, video games, secular music, pornography, drugs etc… I barely kept my phone on me cause I no longer wanted it. Then after a year or so, I grew a little complacent with my walk with God and I allowed myself marijuana (for a short season) and God took it away again. I gave it up. I was ashamed of my walk. It was off the track. It opened to the door to godless violent video games (again) and I was becoming addicted to the entertainment aspect of living; UA-cam all day long, gaming, even a little online poker… ugh! It left me feeling guilty and ashamed. So I gave it all back to God. My life I mean. He fixed what needed fixing and now I have to get out there and start using my talents and abilities (and experiences) to witness to those in my city. I KNOW that’s what He wants me to do. Even if it’s just one soul per day. It’s better than reaching zero. That’d be a waste of my gifts and living selfishly for my own comfort. I definitely feel your sentiment in this video!
