i like to think future max was the one who left the tape recorded message after max came back from the alternate universe where max saved william but chloe got in a car accident years later. knowing that changing william's death will only make chloe suffer in the future, max decided to let wiliam die ans the tape message was her apology to younger chloe for failing to save william and for not being able to be there for her in the following years. i know it the first game we dont get to leave the scene to go upstairs but i like to think the tape recorder was there on the table at some point in the morning and future max was able to record a goodbye message before she travelled back to the present.

God, this just fucking ruins me every time. Even knowing ahead of time what had to be coming at the end, it just wrecked me.

i still remember the first time i played LiS man... this game made me cry like a waterfall which no other medium (except some songs) could manage, even to this day. i played it like a year before BtS got announced and i consumed everything life is strange related until like a year after i played BtS and everything made me cry. i don't know what it is, if it is that i can relate to Chloes pain and her feeling of hopelessness and anger at the world, Maxs feelings and thoughts about the world (even tho i never was the "weird" punk or "outcast"), the love story(s), the "small" stuff like Max being a bad friend for not calling or writing Chloe for years even tho she knew what Chloe was going through, Chloe being mean to her mom and stuff, all the unfair things everyone experiences in this game or the music, which definitely adds to it but something just really resonates with me and forms a connection i can't explain... or maybe i'm just romanticizing? idk... but this game influenced me and to this day i think about it from time to time. although i haven't cried for years now these games (and their music) still manage to bring 1 or 2 tears to my eyes and i'm so greatful i got to excperience them because they're one of the few things that make me feel smth. life is indeed strange, keep your head up folks and much love
