Oh, this could go very badly indeed, let’s be honest. There are a percentage of cops who will go to great lengths to fully enforce this. They’re already doing so, but now you have a very clear roadmap that indicates you don’t have the right to ride. I definitely don’t take this lightly. I’m technically in Georgia, so I hope that when I return to California, there will be some form of registration and license plate in effect by then, if this situation escalates and companies push for legal action. At least then, you’d be able to ride and would be considered a privileged category, so you’d be the only one who could potentially face consequences instead of it being simply illegal. Yes, I don’t see this as a positive development. I see this as a long and potentially arduous journey towards success or a potentially ugly outcome.

I don't like a lot of California laws, but I like this. I am okay with pedal assist being on bike paths and MTB trails. I don't want electric motorcycles there, whether they have decorative pedals or not -- too many of them are just dicks.

Respectfully, the real issue are all the kids/teens whipping through traffic and blowing stop signs with just a bike helmet separating them from the afterlife. However, I do think adults should be able to do and buy whatever they want.
