All great picks! Outwitting the Devil is excellent, I re-read it from time to time as well. Lots of good stuff in there about how the mind works and how society tries to keep us drifting. Every year my go-to book to re-read is The One Thing by Gary Keller!
What up Alex! I agree, I think everyone's life would genuinley change if they read Outwitting the Devil. Thank you for supporting!
I really like your channel man. Keep it up!
Thank you, share with a friend!
Love to see a black man in the industry. Will be in that position soon!
Thank you for supporting, handle your bidness and I'll see you here!
Do you offer coaching ?
Hi, thank you for supporting. Hopefully I will offer 1:1 calls later this year. For now, I'll strive to give as much free game on the channel as I can.
Hello sir have you hired any MBA admissions cousnltant or not if yes then who is this?
I worked with a consultant through MLT, and I hired an essay editor about a month before applications were due (too late IMO, but it worked out). I like Fortuna and MLT for both. Godspeed!
Hey Tyler! As an international student, how many years of work experience should i have before joining a mba program
Hey there! The real answer is "it depends" (get used to this answer in B-School). The average work experience pre-admission is about 4-5 years but it varies for every unique person. Generally, I'd say work long enough to where you can 1) Gain relevant experience to be an asset to your colleuages through your skillset and unique perspective, and 2) Use your experience to answer the essay question "Why MBA"...that's all I can give you for free 😉.
Thankyou<3 🤍
percs...
Ya turned me off, if it was not intentional.

Hey what do you think about executive Search. I am in intern at Russel Reynolds Association. I learn a lot.

Nah you know who didn’t earn it? The multitude of WHITE MALE legacies who got in because their daddy made a donation. Also, why is a trailer dweller like you commenting?
“You’re done” 🤣🤣 Great tips!

Bro which books can help in becoming a top consultant.. i am a hvac engineer in Aec construction industry
Thanks for watching! I’m not sure if there are any books on being a top consultant, but I could be wrong. Let me know if you find any and best of luck on your journey 🤝🏾
Hi!! Thanks for the information. Did you use any programs/consultants to help you with your application? Obviously, a lot of people lean on these aids, so I wanted to get your opinion on the likelihood of someone of a good background still gaining admission without paying for a consultant.
Great question! Yes, it's possible to get into an MBA program without a consultant but possibility isn't probability. Some of the most "impressive" applicants still use consultants and prep programs so I'd say do what it takes to give yourself the best chance. I used both Riordan and MLT. Rooting for you!
How can some one not having us citizenship get into mgmt consulting in usa
Gratz on Wharton 👍For anyone thinking of taking the GMAT, there is a new version "Focus" that has completely replaced the previous version. May want to google/read about the changes that have taken place. Sentence Correction is not included anymore, for example. - GMAT Knight
Thank you for your support and best of luck on your channel! GMAT tutors are heaven sent
With love from Nigeria, Tyler. Not seen anybody breakdown the world of Business School like you do. Amazing work.

Nahhh you're hilarious for this comment! lol
Which firm would you select tyler?
It really depends! Each firm varies, and every office has its unique culture, so it's a personal choice. All the firms mentioned in the video are excellent, so you're in good hands with any of them. Thanks for watching!
Hi Tyler, can you do a video about financial services industry? I’m looking to get into financial services of management consulting industry. I just got into an MBA program and I am looking for work life balance as a young woman with young family.
Absolutely! Congratulations on getting into an MBA program-that's fantastic! I'll definitely consider making a video about entering the financial services industry, especially with a focus on maintaining work-life balance. I appreciate you suggesting it. Stay tuned, and best of luck with your studies and family life! 😊
as an ex-MBB - don't go to management consulting. It is not the place for people with young family. Don't think you will find a way to manage it - you won't. It is 14+ hours job daily with no good time to eat/take a break when you are on a project, with 80% of time on the client site.
@@RomarioRUSSIA thank you so much for this. I’m tilting towards financial services

Meanwhile, lol, please take note of the following corrections: - :40 *Hierarchy - :46 *Perks - 3:02 *Hierarchy - 4:33 ”big-4” not “big-3” - 6:55 “$280k” not “$285k” - 9:47 *Perks - 11:02 *employees’ - 11:45….*perk…the word is perk. As always, thank you for your continued patience and support during the early stages of this journey.
You are part of an under-represented cohort of applicants which is why the requirements for you to be accepted will be significantly different and much less than an over-represented cohort. So this video isn’t applicable to everyone …. and most info is pretty obvious ….
Yup. Be black, no criminal record, graduate with above a 1.0 gpa and you are set for life.
@@Doug-rv3nr you don't need to be racist about it. It is just a fact and applicable to any under-represented (from a diversity perspective) group like all minority applicants, women, or an applicant from a particular country where very few people apply for admission to these colleges. An over-represented cohort would be Males from India and China. For them this advise would fall short.
@@adityagawhale What's racist about it? It's a fact. Also, Chinese Scholarship Council pays hundreds of millions a year to Ivy League schools to allow more Chinese students to be admitted, so it's not really the same.
@@Doug-rv3nr mentioning - “no criminal record”, and having above “1.0 Gpa” was a bit racist. Also when I mention China and India, the sheer number of people that apply from these countries is the most compared to anyone else. So the size of applicant pool increases a lot and so does the competition. So if you want to admit one Indian student and one Chinese student the possibility of an applicant getting admitted will be far less than say a black person (specially a black US citizen who is a minority and on top of that a soldier). So this guy’s advise is helpful for only similar people which he doesn’t mention.
@@adityagawhale so you're saying only blacks can have a 1.0 gpa and go to jail?
I would think the reasons why you got admitted are mainly because you served the country before and you are black given that your gmat and undergraduate’s gpa are both way lower than the bars.
Spoiler Alert: white women have always been the biggest beneficiaries of Affirmative Action-based admissions. It isn’t black people who are preventing you Asians from getting in.
thanks for the transportation tips! i love when vloggers give tips in the middle of a video instead of creating a new video
Thanks for the tip, I’ll keep that in mind going forward!
Awesome video! I’m in business school myself. I would love to see a video about your path to Wharton.
Thank you for watching! I have a video that goes into how I got in, check it out on the channel
what pre MBA role did you do?
I served as an officer in the US Air Force for about 5 years, also had a little Space Force experience.
Great video--very practical and informative. Thank you, Tyler.
Thank you for watching!
Hey man, great content! Thanks for sharing your experience, I hope you continue to kill it out there! Active duty officer here. Wondering what did you use to prepare for the GMAT?
Thank you for your service 🫡. I used TTP and the GMAT Club forum for GMAT prep. Once you get the basics and pacing down, hire a tutor for the final sprint if you need it.
Thanks man, I’m in the process and putting in the work, but I’m freaking out about all the steps, and the competition. It helps to see things holistically and introspectively. I’ll try and focus on doing me.
It’s a tough process for sure. Fear and anxiety come from a lack of action, and information. Create a timeline and work backwards. Take it one objective and one day at a time, I’m rooting for you!
@@tylerejackson yup yup one day at a time doing things step by step and accepting help. I appreciate it
Step 1 to getting into an MBA program that you don’t deserve, based on merit (ie GMAT and GPA), to be accepted into: Be black
Sooo original. Did Ed Blum give you that one?
Love your page Tyler!
Thank you, it loves you back!
Hi Tyler! I’m looking to apply for the upcoming program. I have about 4 years on freelance and running my business work experience but only 9 months working corporately. Do you feel that will impact my chances?
Hi, thank you for watching! Yes, full time MBA students typically have 5 years of professional experience but there are always outliers.
@@tylerejackson thank you! Does this also apply to a school like Wharton, when I researched they said online it doesn’t matter.
LOVE the content man as someone who is aspiring to get my MBA this insight means alot!!!!!

Thank you so much for this video! was reassuring to hear you got in even though your stats were lower than the school's you were applying;s average because i was stressing over how low my GPA is compared to the my school's average. i'm applying to Wharton's Moelis Deferred MBA program right now!
You can absolutely do it! Best of luck to you
Heyy! How did it go?!
I'm loving these videos bro!! You got me thinking about applying at Wharton!
Thanks for the support, and you definitely should!
hi 😊 Black Brit here, the two tables for African American history month and Black History month made sense to me but I'm guessing not for you? Do African Americans use that as an identifier more less or the same as 'black'?
Hey there, great question! I initially thought two tables were redundant given the history and initial intent of BHM, but I understand the intent of the bookstore by separating the two. This topic can get too deep for the comment section but I'm always down for a good convo in person. Thank you for supporting the channel.
I love the vlog! I'll be starting at Darden in August. So this was helpful just to see others experiences. New subscriber!
THANK YOU for the sub! I'll see you around the black MBA space, and good luck on your journey!
