Nature walk with Hounds.
It's definitely feeling like winter on the coast. Thank goodness we live in the warmest area of Canada and our winters are not very cold. The dogs and I spent a Saturday out in the park enjoying the beautiful forest and ocean while soaking up views of the north shore mountains. Join me as I walk with our two rescue dogs who happen to be the best coonhounds in Stanley Park in Vancouver B.C. Canada.

Stanley Park Saturday

What better way to finish the first week of the new year off with a great walk in the park. We are so lucky to live next to Stanley Park. It is one of, of not the biggest urban park in North America. Our dogs love to explore and sniff their way through the park. Who knows what they will find. Woods , seawalls, paths, beaches.

Love watching your dogs❤
Thanks for watching 🙏. Beau & Ella appreciate it 🐶❤️
"I'm sure some of you watching are like, that's not cold..." 😂 Well maybe a bit, BUT as someone who lived in Vancouver for about 15 years before moving to Québec City, I'll give you credit where it's due: a damp rainforest cold at 5°C feels a heck of a lot colder than -10°C in dry snow. That damp cold has a way of working itself into your bones! 🥶 Thanks for calling out the littering for what it is. With landscape that beautiful, human adornments aren't needed. Also love how you two know when it's safe to walk the dogs off-leash and safe to hook up the leash. We love to see responsible dog ownership! Bowie's forest behaviour is so much like my girl Clementine. Coonhounds are such amazing dogs. Except now you're making me want a second one to play with her. 😂 Thanks for posting, always love these videos! Happy New Year, bonne année 🎉 I hope this channel gets bigger and bigger views in 2025, your content is so good for the soul! 😌
Hey!! First thanks for watching!! The cold is definitely a different kind of cold out here. We spent a couple years in Saskatchewan and we're amazed at how much warmer a dry -10 is compared to a wet +5. I will always call out littering, it is a shame there is so much garbage in nature. I appreciate the comment about the dogs off-leash, we try to be the most considerate dog owners we can be, one must always think of others and themselves. We took our time with Beau before we let him start going off-leash. He for sure has earned his privileges. I think both dogs love having a friend, and when we saw Ella at the SPCA, we just couldn't not get her. I hope you and Clementine are enjoying the new year. Again, Thanks for watching, it means so much. I am conscious of some of the improvements I need to make and will be putting in a lot of effort this year to make some things better. Thanks 🙏❤️🐶
I did not realize that you are in Vancouver! You are so lucky to have such a beautiful place to hike with your dogs! I live in Ontario in a rural village. My hound loves to track the coyotes in the morning. He has to stay on leash or he would be gone.
Yep! We are in Vancouver. We are definitely blessed to have such great places to enjoy nearby. And the dogs love the amount of wildlife to smell!! They will also chase a coyote. What type of hound do you have? Thanks for watching!
We have a tricolour hound who is a rescue from Kentucky. He is on the small side so I am assuming a foxhound mix.
Nice! Thanks for getting a rescue hound!!
I have two redbone coonhounds. I bought one, a puppy 7 weeks old for $100 2 weeks later, I got his older sister for free. She was from the previous litter. I didn't get them because I wanted to buy one. I saw how emaciated they were and offered to pay $100 to take them both. My now 2-year-old female was the older of the two dogs. She was tetthered to a pole with at least a 25' cable to her collar. Ordinarily, i would have no problem with a long tether, as she could have a 50' radius with which to play... the ussue was, she's a hound who chased small animals to the end of the tether and damaged her vocal chords. I say all this to tell you her younger brother learn to bark and howl from her and it is hilarious when I bring them to the dog park people will just sit and listen and laugh and love my dogs my females name is Cedar my male's name is Rory Bigglestep. He is 1 she is 2. I also have a 13-year-old lab short-haired pointer mix.The best dogs ever. Your video was great
Thanks for watching!! Thanks for sharing your story, what a great one and I love your dog's names.

Greetings from Sharps Chapel Tennessee!!! Had a hound , black in the middle, tan on both ends. Floppy ears. Vet said she was a Black mouth Curr. Her eyes were same color as a bloodhound, all facial feature same as the bloodhound. She was a runner!!! Also everyone said she was one of the most beautiful hound they had ever seen. Great video.
Thanks!! Sounds like you had a great hound.
We have a small male tricolour hound that was rescued from Kentucky. He is now loving life in Canada. He is smart, friendly and very much a Velcro boy! Always adopt!
Great job for rescuing a hound! Thanks for watching

I’m so sorry for your loss of Charlie…your “brother.” Beautiful Boy❤. Yes, sooooo hard. It will take some time not having him with you physically, but I believe that he is alongside of you in spirit. Yes, Charlie was a Gift from God, & what he has become, is a Gift to God. Walk in Gentleness, my friend, each day as your heart is healing from the sadness you are going through. Sending you Maui AloHA. Blessings😘🌺🦋🙏🏽🌈🕉️🕊️

So sorry for your loss. Check out a few of our pet loss videos and songs. Hopefully, they can help. "Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." - Anatole France

Why did God make dogs? I'm a dog person. I've had dogs since I was five. Now, at 55, that's a lot of cherished companions and I can name every one of them, I think. Why did God make dogs? One of the main reasons God created dogs was to demonstrate his unconditional love, I think. Unlike humans who often love conditionally based on what they can get, dogs offer an unbiased and non-judgmental love. They don’t care what you look like, how successful you are, or what mistakes you’ve made - they adore you just the same. Their endless affection reminds us of the kind of unreserved love God has for His children.
Well said!
The memories will last longer than the time spent together. I’m sorry.
Had a couple of bluetick in my life vary good dogs have a walker coonhound right now a fun friend and vary loving and gentle.in the house
Hounds are great!!
Nice video, I agree with some but not all of your information. Some of it is incorrect. There’s 7 breeds of coonhounds and Redtick is a color, NOT a breed. My pack is full of tri-colored English coonhounds and it’s a misrepresentation to say they are called “redticks.” 1. American Black & Tan Coonhound 2. Bluetick Coonhounds 3. English Coonhound 4. American Leopard Hound 5. Plott Hound 6. Redbone Coonhound 7. Treeing Walker Coonhound Additionally, Treeing walkers and blueticks derive from the English. They both broke off to create their respective breeds today. - this information is available on both the AKC and UKC website under the history of each breed.
Hi, Thank you for your comment, I think there are a couple misunderstandings here. We have a tri-coloured coonhound (Ella) and a Redtick coonhound (Bowie). We are not calling a tri-coloured a red tick. A Redtick is a sub breed of the American English. The 6 types of coon hounds according to the AKC are: 1. American English Coonhound 2. Black and Tan Coonhound 3. Bluetick Coonhound 4. Plott Hound 5. Redbone Coonhound 6. Treeing Walker Coonhound www.akc.org/expert-advice/dog-breeds/meet-coonhound-breeds/#:~:text=Six%20breeds%2C%20the%20American%20English,drive%20them%20up%20a%20tree. The American Leopard Hound is not a coon hounds, in fact it was bread to hunt bears not racoons. It is also a descendant of Spanish conquistadors and crossed with native Mexican dogs not foxhounds and blood hounds. www.akc.org/dog-breeds/american-leopard-hound/ www.ukcdogs.com/american-leopard-hound-#:~:text=American%20Leopard%20Hounds%20are%20believed,from%20Mexico%20to%20hunt%20bear. I can not validate your reference to the treeing wallet and blue ticks. I have included the links for the AKC and neither history section states as such. www.akc.org/dog-breeds/treeing-walker-coonhound/ www.akc.org/dog-breeds/bluetick-coonhound/ "Like all coonhound breeds, the Bluetick is an American creation. Bluetick bloodlines are said to extend back to before the founding of the country, specifically to French staghounds given to George Washington as a gift from his great friend, the Marquis de Lafayette. These were huge, ponderous dogs, easy to follow on foot. Breeders mixed in some English Foxhound along with a few other hound breeds to develop a high-endurance and meticulous hunter with a 'cold nose.' (This is coon-hunter lingo describing a dog capable of working scent trails that are hours, even days, old.)"
The American English comes in more than 1 color coat. There is the Blue Ticked English which is different from the Blue Tick as described from a Calf. breeder to me.Some people confuse the Tree Walker as there is the American English that has the color coat of the same
Run free, dearest Chunk.🌈🫶🙏🐶🙏🫶
Thanks 🙏🐾

I'm sorry about your Sam. I understand the loss. We are lucky to have them for the time we do, but it is not enough. Thanks for watching Charlie's Video 🐾🙏
@@HoundsLife THANK YOU RIP SAM And CHARLIE
My son and daughter-in-law's rescue redbone stays with me when they travel. I swear that dog is my soul mate lol. And I fell so in love with the breed I got one of my own.❤❤
They are the best dogs. We have had 3 in our life so far and will have more I'm sure. I love how you had to get your own 🐾😀
My husband and I found your channel while researching the Coonhound breeds to understand our rescue girl better (she's only 1/3 by DNA,but very much looks and behaves like a Coonhound). We're slowly working our way through your channel history. Anyway, we both did a double-take when we saw the title of this video. We're in Québec City now, but we lived in Vancouver for about 15 years before we moved here and we're both small-town BC folks, so this video felt nostalgic (for BC) and reminds us of our new life (here in QC with our dog Clementine) at the same time. 🥰 You have such beautiful dogs and they're so well-cared-for! It's a joy to watch them enjoy their best lives with people who meet them where they're at. You might say this in another video, but what harness do you use? We've gone through a couple trying to fit our girl's deep chest/tucked waist and those look different than the ones we have tried. 👀
Hi!! Thanks for watching🙏🐾. Your lucky to have a Coonhound in your life, they are incredible dogs. We use the Ruffwear Flagline harness on both of our hounds. We also use the Ruffwear front range harness for Beau sometimes as he is a little smaller. It is a great brand that will replace if anything breaks and stands up to the elements. Thanks again for watching, it means the world to me to share our lives with the dogs.
Charlie's people obviously gave him a great life :) I am certain he knows how much you love him.
Thanks 🙏🐾. I definitely did my best to give him a great life
Our rescue girl is 1/3 Bloodhound and 1/3 Coonhound, and this is all so true. Love my girl. <3
Hounds are great aren't they. Your girl sounds like a cutie 🐾
