Maple Meg & Bradley
Приєднався 18 сер 2020
Hi, we are Maple, Meg, and Bradley. We are transplants to the great PNW. Well, Maple is technically a native of Oregon so that last sentence is only 2/3 true. On the low, we make these videos to make our Mom's proud, but we also hope that you enjoy them too.
Smoky Quartz at Short Beach???
A long day at Short beach led us to our rarest find yet - Smoky Quartz. Is that even a thing? Someone told us it was and we choose to believe it. Enjoy this week's video where we make a trip out to Short beach, Oregon on a rainy, winter day.

Washington Rockhounding at Washougal River
Переглядів 15 тис.3 роки тому
If Washington had a go-to-spot for agates this would be it. Washougal River is a gravel bed of glory with more agates than you can shake a stick at. Everything was sublime until it wasn't. Poor Maple was met by injury and we had to call it a day earlier than we had hoped. Check out our finds!
Rockhounding Zeolites in Goble, Oregon
Переглядів 1,6 тис.4 роки тому
This was our first time proper rockhounding. We brought the sledge-hammer and pick axe out and hammered away at piles of zeolite-bearing basalt. The results were astounding!
Discovering Salmon River Oregon

After a long hiking hiatus we landed on the Salmon river in Mt Hood. The trail was filled with lush green trees, vibrant moss, and an abundant variety of mushrooms. To our surprise there were many agates as well. We hope you enjoy!

Hiking Through The Del Norte Coastal Redwoods
Переглядів 8894 роки тому
Megan, Maple, and I made a day trip south to the Del Norte Redwoods to explore the unique, historic trees that have been growing in the PNW for several hundreds of years. These coastal Redwoods are unparalleled in their size. Standing amongst the Old Growth is a surreal experience that invites new perspective to Earth's natural beauty.
Gold Beach OR Vacation

Maple, Megan, and I explore Southern Oregon in a much needed break from work. We stayed 3 nights in Gold Beach with high hopes of finding agates. This is the first of two - maybe three? - videos because there's too much awesome to fit into just one video.
Capturing The Moment

Capturing the moment is both a reminder to be present and a call to make memories. Fall is only here for a brief time. Megan collects a few Fall leaves around the neighborhood before coming home to paint them. Take a moment to enjoy this video and learn more about what makes Megan...Megan!

A perfectly picked leafy environment sets the stage for our apple adventures. Oh yeah, there’s also a bonus spontaneous pumpkin patch pit stop for good measure.
Rain or Shine There’s Agates to Find [Oceanside, OR]
Переглядів 9494 роки тому
Overcast skies and a light drizzle were today’s forecast, but nonetheless we were not deterred. Maple least of all. Today’s adventures brought us back to the PNW coast. This time we explored the eternally scenic Oceanside beach where we uncovered lost jewels of the ocean…Agates!
Oregon Wildfires // Calapooia River Agate Hunting
Переглядів 3,5 тис.4 роки тому
North of Oregon’s wildfire epicenter we are seeing firsthand the hazardous effects of ash and smoke. Prior to the wildfire outbreak, we were south near Salem at Calapooia River agate hunting and enjoying the beautiful weather. Be sure to catch Brad’s epic fail. He falls and ends up completely submerged with the GoPro. Meanwhile Meg finds her largest agate to date.

Meg and I had the morning off. What better way to spend the morning than at a local breakfast cafe that also doubles as a plant nursery.

Back at it again the crew adventures out west to the Oregon coast. On today’s agenda, agate hunting and enjoying the PNW beach.
😷😷😷😷. You lost me with the masks. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Living proof that drinking salt water makes you delirious. lol
Send me a DM please. Would like to discuss rocks with you. I live in Goble.
Ha! I have never seen Goble mentioned anywhere before. Used to live near there, up the hill off Hwy 30.
Up Nicolai or Neer City?
@@monicaniccum2734 In Deer Island
Sandy Swimming Hole, yeah?
Where is that location?
What beach are u at? Thx
Yeah, This is where we go for a short distance or short on time rockhound trip ! We went here under the bridge on 4th of July at 98°. Surprisingly wasn't too crowded and we found a good haul.😀
3:30 , 5:50
Smelt Sands just north of Yachats is a good place to find baby agates and the views are breathtaking. Going there at sunset, as well as any beach, I have found that the sunlight will light up the agates and make them easier to find. I agree that Bob's Creek wins hands down for finding a variety of different agates. I love your dog! So beautiful! If you enjoy quartz and jasper as well as agates, head south to Bandon to Coquille Point to find beautiful rocks and agates and gorgeous views. Enjoy your adventures on the Oregon Coast!
just the beginning. naturals Keepers thanks met out there oh you ore ee guun me wash in tons Washington rockhounds cool i no i huh ya uh. coo Keepers Lever- rites my Amethysty- Scepter In Garret Romain's gem trails of Washington peace non duo yet know I ites rock on no two beautiful. Short Beach is my FAVORITE! I can spend hours there. I especially love it when people with littles stop and ask me what I’m doing. I show them what to look for. And they usually find me to show me their treasures!❤️. At about 7:00 behind Bradly the 2huge rock formations during a minus tide you can got out pretty far and fine beauties!, remember keep one eye on the tide! Happy hunting!❤️
Hello from Washington!
Hi
Hello!!!
Hi💐
A few seedy homeless characters are in the area so be alert
Love that you are local and tell where you are! Short beach is one of MY favorite places. I can spend hours there. I love to show young kids what and where to look for agents. 1. On a minus tide it is most productive out but the big rocks. 2. I found a golf ball bucket at the Goodwill and lined it with mesh fabric. That way I can dip it in the water to wash my treasures off. 3. There are more than 135 steps from bottom to top. Maybe I had too heavy a load once to carry up and counting steps took the struggle off my mind! …just saying!😂. Thanks for your channel!
Where I live on the river I found a agit that was a inch long and half a in
I've been there I'm close I go school where your are
Lmao that’s my property in the background
🤣
Hi from Oregon to
Regarding your tide pool exploration: Be careful when you’re flipping those bigger rocks around (just lift straight up, nothing is going to hurt you!) lest you crush something and try and (gently) put those bigger shelter rocks back where and how they were. Recent studies show PNW tidal zones are stressed. Disturbed areas are taking much longer to recover and do so with much less diversity. So if it’s a rock with a lot of critters on one side, make sure that side is how it was. Oregon beaches are over run with tourists now. Every bit helps.
The one you pickup at 7:36 appears to be blue holly agate, very cool! Those are rare and endemic to the area
I know right where you are! I live there!
Take your mask off, your outside.
*you’re. If you are going to correct others and tell them what to do, master simple grammar first. That, and don’t tell other adults what to do. Mind your own business.
Thank you, thank you! My next trip will be down toShort Beach! I LOVE that you are from Oregon! Definitely going to follow you!
I searched at this same beach and only found two of them. You probebly stole them all lol
I found a agate that weighed in at a pound and now love looking for them
Is this the state park???
Great finds and a sad ending with Maple getting injured. I doubt that calm and relaxed is in Maple's DNA though. Next time I get out to Washougal I will have to take a walk on the river.
Whoever disliked is a Karen
So, did you get the frisbee?
That's some of the feshest cleanest water in tbe country. Of course the dog can drink it.
Forgot to mention how cool I think it is that you were able to find a few good finds!
I live in a house right behind you. Now I know why there are always people looking and picking at the rocks….wondered why people
Now I wanna go to cornell farms! 💚
Hermosa playa!!! Excelente video
Buen video
Hermoso video. Saludos!!!!
that was a cool trip , nice agates , quartz , lots of good finds
All the rocks that they couldn't find are all President Trump's fault.
looks like the rainy day helped a lot, you gained a new a follower here. From Quebec
I rockhound near this spot along this river and have done so for half a decade. When you go to the Washougal, please pick up garbage as you go. I wouldn't recommend it for off - leash dogs or children, as there is a fair bit of GLASS in the rocks from past trash. The Washougal is my favorite river - it has given me incredible stones, bones, glass, ceramics, and feathers. I have seen it in every season. Sometimes I only go to pick up litter. Please don't ruin this beautiful environment - it is a healthy river and I really want it to stay that way. Sometimes there are sketchy people there, so it is ALWAYS best to go with a buddy! Please be kind to my river.
Ok, Karen.
Please give directions to this place. Went to the river in briefly in March and could not find a nice gravely beach.
Google Roundtable pizza. It's right across from where they filmed and you can cross the bridge right next to it to get to where this was filmed.
If you get further South again, definitely check out Bullard's Beach just north of Bandon. You don't find a lot of agates there but the jaspers and fossils are AMAZING!
yeah that hat was totally a covid hot zone LOLOLOLOLOL
We can all see what disaster the BALLOT BOXES were for America...
Why is she wearing a mask out in the fresh ocean air?
Awesome rock hunting!! Poor pup...
☺
