Where did you get de sheet score?
Thank you for your interest! The music is published by Stainer and Bell - stainer.co.uk/shop/k30/
@@StevenDevineMusic thanks very much for the info, in consider to buy it but i have a question, the sheets are similar like the original manuscript? I play some croft pieces in a very pianistic edition on imslp and i cant understand the ornaments, do you recomend me your edition?
@@ana-ch3ie Stainer and Bell would be very accurate, but in old editions ignore HOW they wrote out an ornament and just think which are trills, turns or mordents and play them just like you would in any other baroque music.
@@grantco2 thanks!
Wonderful, Steve. Still hope to get you over to Boston one day not too distant! Best regards from Australia! Peter
I'd like that very much - thank you!
Excellent project! And then, no less neglected, there's Krebs's chamber music...
Thank you Lewis! Volume 4 has just been released - www.resonusclassics.com/products/johann-ludwig-krebs-keyboard-works-volume-4. Two more to go!
Overly self-indulgent
Fair enough - which aspect? All best !
HOW?
Beautiful tone. Are the strings all brass, or brass and iron?
Hello - thanks for your comment. It's a mixture of brass and iron.
Most enjoyed. Thanks!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Most enjoyed. Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Genius! 😂❤🎉
A great vaccine for (post)covid blues! Sounds almost like `Europe'. May it get all the return it deserves...
Nice performance. OTT ambience
This is quite extraordinary. Thanks, Mr. Devine.
What a joy to listen to! Will you be posting some more in the future? I'm still missing Uranie and would love to see other stuff as well! :)
Thank you! there's lots more, just need a bit more time to sort it! Uranie will come...
@@StevenDevineMusic glad to hear that ♫
Purcell brought me here :) delightful interpretation thx
Thank you!
What a treat. Historically true. It has to be realized that the art and science of keyboard instrument tuning back in the 17th century might not have been as precise as today.
Thank you! In some ways, there is more precision in the tuning (in this case, quarter-comma meantone) as there are pure thirds which are easier to tune...
@@StevenDevineMusic Today we have the exact cycles per second values assignable to each note in the twelve tone scale, rounded off typically to the hundredth or at least to the tenth; for example, A440.00, B flat 466.2, etc. From Pythagoras to Puccini, no one had any concept of such numerics beyond the level of what Pythagoras himself surmised. ua-cam.com/video/7TE5LkJ8x8E/v-deo.html
The only "pure" interval is an octave - e.g. A 440 to A 880. Beyond this, of course it is POSSIBLE to have, say, a pure fifth (A 220 to A 330) or other pure intervals such as a third or seventh, but you can't tune a keyboard instrument or any other stringed instrument based on pure fifths, pure thirds, etc. - unless you were to limit your performance thereon to playing only ONE CHORD for your entire repertoire, between tunungs. The rule of 78ths precludes any other outcome except for disasters such as octave-stretching and sour-apple renditions of The Well-Tempered Clavier.
@@scottdavis691 Your point is well made and absolutely accurate, but we may have to disagree about "precision" as no temperament is precise (as you say) and equal temperament is, to my ear, equally out of tune and (apart from octaves, as you say) worse on harpsichords (especially this little Italian instrument) than pianos. Really appreciate your comment - it's such an interesting topic! All the best.
Steven Devine HAS IT ALL.
simply love this! 😁💃 bravo!
Thank you so much! I had real fun learning this and the A minor P&F
Dear Steven Devine Amazing contents right here! Glad I have found your channel! May I repost all videos under your channel name on another website called Ganjing World? Full credits and sources are inclusive, for sure. Thanks!
Thanks for your kind comments. I'm afraid I can't allow you to repost - I'm so sorry. Thank you for your interest though.
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Great playing! First time I heard Blow's work was on a programme about him that I recorded from BBC Radio3 (I think it was at any rate) in 1987, the Harpsichordist was Robert Wooley and the singer was Emma Kirkby. That got me into Purcell and other forms of Baroque music.
Bravo Steven!!!
Bravo Steven!!!
Bravo !!!
Very pretty.
Bravo, Steven. Love your sensibility and your interpretation. Lovely tempo in the praeludium!
Thank you!
I have just been practising this Ground for an hour and a half after hearing it for the first time here. I really like the way you play it. Your instrument is also beautiful!
Thank you!
Awesome playing. Thank you.
Thank you!
Brief summary about the composer, please, Steven.
Pascual is a fantastic pianist and composer; he wrote a message on the harpsichord group on Facebook asking a harpsichordist to play one of his piano pieces on harpsichord and so I did and loved it! He very kindly wrote this D major for me. His website is : pascualgimeno.wixsite.com/composer/bio
Could you please tell us more about this composer? When were they alive? Their music sounds almost modern!
Pascual Gimeno is very much alive and active - and in fact wrote this piece for me after he originally requested to hear his (piano) music on a harpsichord. I recorded this A minor Prelude and Fugue in response to that request: ua-cam.com/video/9ccpgoFZ_RY/v-deo.html Pascual's website has some downloadable music - including that A minor Prelude and Fugue: pascualgimeno.wixsite.com/composer/music
WOW😮 Superb, enjoyed that.
Thank you Carl!
I like the piece..kinda jaunty and fun. But the playing of it is superb!!! Gosh you DO know how to toucher a clavecin.
Thank you Andrew - I appreciate your comment!
Fab. Is there more?
There are a couple more which I'll get under my fingers at some point.
@@StevenDevineMusic actually there are six of them so far...I'll send you 5 and 6.

Who is the we?
A fascinating and long-overdue project. Thanks for undertaking this. The best crab in the brook! Just ordered it. I see that it's played on a Colin Booth Fleischer as well. Looking forward.
Thank you Peter, I hope you enjoy it!

Perfect performance. I'm going to learn it. What temperament is this?
Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I tuned quarter - comma meantone for this.
So beautiful, the instrument, your plaing, the piece! Such a delicate sound!
Nice surroundings!
