Fist and Fang: Lightning Quick Slashes
fistandfangmartialarts's profile picture
Thanks @supersaiyansiobean for letting me try some of the stuff I picked up at the Karambit Unleased seminar. I honestly don't remember these too well (feel free to comment if I'm doing these wrong!) so this is the best I can conjure. I'll definitely be going to the next one to learn some

Arnis with a Tai Chi Flow (Solo Demo Only)

During solo practice today, I applied some movements out of the Wudang and Kunlun sword form (two forms from Yangjia Michuan Taijiquan) and genrally went ham on some stuff. Excuse the sloppy improv.

Technique Breakdown (Dual Stick Piercing Cyclone)
Переглядів 224 місяці тому
This one is an excerpt from a lesson I did, so expect this vid to be a bit longer and more focused. Marc had asked about adding a second stick to an technique I came up with called "Piercing Cyclone" (came from a Kung Fu background, so I tend to remember cheeseball names for techniques). Here is what we came up with and how we did it.

Mixing Karambit and Knee Strikes (Brief Demo)

Attacking the upper and lower body is definitely a huge part of how my Sensei used to fight back in the day. I think it's time we started showing a bit more of that - starting today!

    Brother I absolutely love your content and your Kenpo is possibly and definitely in the top running for some of the best contemporary Kenpo Karate Extant on the internet... and I've looked at a lot of videos. I'm 37 and I started Kenpo when I was 11 and I've always loved it but you have really inspired me. Thanks bro Os

      Much appreciated man! That's a huge compliment to me and much more than I deserve! It's motivating for me as well - to get such positive feedback from someone who has has such a solid foundation with the art. Respect! 🙏

      Kind of surprised by the lack of input on how Nick moves, I’ve been teaching him for about 7years, he absorbs and understands information like a sponge and hits like a train. We are taking Kenpo concepts and just applying them in different configurations and delving into the body and stance relationships to power( and especially short range power) I appreciate your input and hope you check out more of what we’re doing, I’d love to know your Kenpo linage, I’m an old Bob Liles BB and started in ‘66, thanks for your comment.

      @rburkett1939 this is really awesome, creating this dialogue and I'd love to keep more in touch and to see more of what y'all are doing. My lineage is through Jeff Schroeder at Austin Kenpo Karate down in Austin Texas and his teacher is sifu Russell shores, Stephen labounty, and the late sifu Sepulveda. I know that sifu Schroeder establish the Chinese Kenpo Karate Association in 2000 and has made some modifications to the system as relates to the Tracy lineage but he's the man, one of the finest ( certainly and at least to put up with me for so long :))

      @fistandfang9070 well I certainly done my share a f****** off fooling around and falling in love with women but as for a foundation and continuing aspiration, Kenpo is it. All I know is what I see and hear and I see lightening and bear thunder. Love how comprehensive your explication of technique is, it's humbling how much work and focus clearly has gone into your practice . Would love to work with you sometimes someday . Keep up the good work . I would love to see some content of you explaining your training practices at greater length.

      @@benjaminstevens6043 Much appreciated! You definitely come from a strong lineage Kenpo so definitely see you got the real stuff going on man. I definitely had a similar journey with my Kenpo - It's amazing how the stuff seems to pull us back in a restore some focus back in our lives hahah. The plan this year is to try to break this stuff down more. You brought it to light that someone would be interested in getting under the hood on this stuff, so I think it will be a logical step in the near future to explain this stuff in more detail. Initially, was a bit leary since I usually get casual traffic on these videos (not necessarily other Kenpo practitioners). Definitely would be down to work with ya one day. It's nice to see other Kenpo aficionados out there!

    If you’re going to train anything for practicality train boxing. Wing Chung or any type of kung fu just isn’t applicable enough to almost any situation. No hate just saying boxing is much more of a practical martial art especially if you’re trying to improve your self defence skills

    • @fistandfang9070
      @fistandfang9070 Рік тому

      Didn't read any hate off of that brother! Always nice to have some input. Definitely don't disagree with you on that one. I've studied various styles including boxing. This particular video in all honesty, was an exploration of a concept rather than demonstration defensive application. It helps to keep the fundamentals sharp. 🙏
