    It’s a good thing you speed up the video when you sharpen. I just got a Worksharp roller, with my old Worksharp I can sharpen my 10 kitchen knives faster than one knife with the roller. Just asked Amazon to return it as it’s pretty much useless. The thing is you can not put enough pressure with the abrasive disk since the knife is held by a week magnet It takes 4 strokes per side on an old style sharpener, it takes 60-100 strokes with the roller

    For razor sharp, which grit do you recommend?

    • @Miller.modification
      @Miller.modification 2 місяці тому

      So anything from a 1000 grit to 3000 will get you a nice sharp knife Like a 400 to 1000 is a good jump Or a 800 to 2000 Or 1000 to 3000 Those are some pretty good combos

    I thought the best and most commonly used method of Sharpening is pushing the knife ,grinding the apex and the method you used was only used on the strop but point to heel so the exact opposite of Sharpening (shit explanation but i tried) 😅

    • @Miller.modification
      @Miller.modification 3 місяці тому

      Haha I had another guy ask a similar question I believe but I briefly talked about why but I’ll make a better video on why I sharpen in that style

  • @waterandsteel4713
    @waterandsteel4713 3 місяці тому

    What I'm wondering is If I watch the long play will you explain why you draw away from the edge as opposed to pushing toward the edge? I mean surely you're just making a larger burr to remove with honing steel or strop.

    Liner lock style mechanisms have been on pocket knives for a lot longer than the 80s. Theres multiple examples of liner lock style knives on wwII TL-29 knives, pilot bailout survival knives, and boy scout camp knives. Not 100% sure on how early exactly, but examples of the TL-29 came out prior to WWII. A lot of people referred to those locking systems as dummy locks because the liner use to say "press here" so you knew how to disengage it.

      Yea, its that whole American made thing. To do business in America it costs a lot of money. Then you have the wages, insurance, taxes, etc. If your job paid you like a 12 yo Chinese kid your employer could make more profit and sell its products for a lot less also. You cannot have American jobs paying decent wages and sell the product at the same price as a imported.

    Every power sharpener should watch the varnish test here on YT. It's an eye opener on how quickly you can fry your edge. Every new knife I buy gets a new hand edge for this reason.
