Southern Indiana Biking: In the footsteps of a young Abraham Lincoln
Переглядів 12014 днів тому
Using the main parking area of the Lincoln Boyhood Home National Memorial as my jumping off point for this mixed surface ride. Checked out the original cabin site monument and living farm, then headed a bit west of the memorial. Going through several small towns and seeing some Abe Lincoln related historic sites and a few different railroad lines, I looped back along the boundary of Lincoln Sta...

Headed to my hometown of Sheboygan, Wisconsin on the shores of the beautiful Great Lake Michigan to visit family and brought along a bike and a GoPro to share some adventures! I wanted to share just some of the biking infrastructure that the city of Sheboygan has to offer and I just scratched the surface in this video. Enjoy some scenic views of the lake, the Sheboygan river, a small portion of...

@btp98w thank you 🙂
@introspectiveseeker no problem
Great video and scenery. Tnx.
Thanks for watching!✌️🍻
That type of road surface is called chip seal.
Right on thanks for the info, and thanks for watching the video! ✌️🍻
Thanks for sharing the views of the trails of your lovely state and the solitude of your ride in the area . Beautiful salsa bike .
Thanks for watching! ✌️🍻
Once you get into the Shawnee National Forest, you get even more awesome gravel territory! Great video!
It’s definitely on my radar to get there. Thanks for watching and happy turkey day! 🍻✌️
Such a skibidi video! So interesting! 0:16 😂❤🎉
😂
Enjoyed being taken on the ride. Thank you for sharing!
I appreciate you watching! Thanks for joining the ride!
Thanks for another excellent video.
I appreciate you watching. Thank you!?😊
Good god I'm so jealous right now.
Yeah, it was a pretty great spot to soak up the solitude! 🍻✌️
Yup! Beautiful for relaxing! Check out the other beautiful videos!
Thanks!😊
God's Bless. 😎
What took you away from Sheboygan?
A pretty little lady. 😊
What action camera are you using?
GoPro hero 11. The stabilization is incredible! Never had any overheating or any other issues with it, and I’m not easy on stuff 😂! I’d highly recommend!
@@btp98w I went with the DJI action 4, literally weeks before they released the 5 (which I didn’t know was coming lol)
@@TheBane1979 DUUUUUDE!!! I feel your pain! Seems like that ALWAYS happens too! Oh well, you still got yourself a great camera.
@@btp98w yea, I researched before I got it. I have some other DJI stuff and I’m digging what they’re putting out. Literally a month after I bought it they put out info that the 5 was coming lol
@@TheBane1979 yeah but the camera you have is a good one too. Hang on to it for a year or three then upgrade, then a month after you buy that camera the newer version will drop! 😂 Gotta love technology….
😊 yxb
Great video! I work for the company that purchases all the oil down where your video started. Great area, with tons of oil production. 75% of the oil down there, belongs to the number one oil producer in IL.
Thanks for watching! Great to hear from someone personally involved with the oil industry from that area too! Yeah, that area is just incredible! I’ve just fallen in love with the lower Wabash valley.
@@btp98w You’re welcome! Yes, it’s a nice rural area, especially to ride! My brother and I live here and ride a lot. Lots of scenic roads, to take you all over the surrounding towns. As far as getting to Bull Island, your best bet is staying on the north side and down griffin road. Looking forward to more videos!
Thanks for the tip to possibly see bull island! I’m a big history buff, even the stuff that is a bit obscure. I’m already trying to figure out my next trip the that area lol! I really do like it there, although I’m going to go when it’s a bit cooler! Thanks again for watching! 🍻
Thanks for the fun video. You really captured that spirit of exploration. Are you on Wandrer?
Thanks for watching! Is Wandrer an app? If so, no I’m not. 🍻
You are very brave being out there alone! Pretty natural scenery.
Thanks for watching!
Suspect those aircraft trails to be chemical rain reducers. Can be researched, and many are not aware of intentional rain reduction! Counted 16 trails at once, here at my home, but there were huge numbers too far away to count!
Another great adventure!
Thank you, I can’t wait to get back over there!
I know exactly what you mean about the oil well smell. Interesting video. A whole different world in SW Indiana and SE Illinois.
Yeah, I’m definitely smitten with that lower Wabash River valley! It’s just a maze of dirt and gravel roads everywhere and a lot of beautiful countryside with barely any people or cars. My kind of place! 😂 Thanks for watching! ✌️
What helmet is that
It’s a Bern Allston.
good stuff. its funny because i was searching for some interesting history in the Louisville area. i do a series called Cycle Paths where i ride my bike around and look at history and weird mysteries, etc. i was thinking of coming down there to ride and film in Novemeber.
Thanks! Yeah, I’ve seen several of your videos before, good stuff! I’m a Wisconsin native. From Sheboygan, so I enjoy looking up content from the homeland. As for Louisville, plenty of history around here depending on what you’re in to! If I can help you out somehow just let me know how and if you’re looking for company on your ride and if I’m around I’d be happy to pedal around with you! 🍻 ✌️
@@btp98w Oh thats awesome! small world! ill hit you up for sure if i make this trip happen.

Great video! Just rode this trail yesterday and really enjoyed it, so scenic and the hills keep it interesting :)
NICE! Yeah, the scenery definitely made the miles fly by. Such a great trail! Thanks for watching the video!
Enjoyed the ride! Thanks.
Thanks for watching!!!
Thanks for another great video!

Thanks for the ride along. Illustrates the huge challenges faced by those on foot and on bike by those in and around Louisville
Thanks you! Yep, riding in Louisville definitely leaves a lot to be desired! I guess I’m just used to it? Probably numb to it. 😂
GR8 video thanks 4 sharing. My kind of riding.
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Great video. My wife and I joke when watching bike races in Belgium that it looks like southern Indiana. It really makes me want to ride there.
Thanks for watching it! 🤞 you make it over there to ride someday! Definitely on my bucket list to ride anywhere in Europe!
Thanks, I enjoyed the ride and nicely done video. The gravel looks pretty chunky, but you seem to be riding fairly smoothly over it. What PSI do you use? Thanks.
Thanks for watching! I almost always keep my tires at 40psi. The only time I’ll lower them down is when I find myself on that fist sized chonk that usually gets dumped in flood prone areas along the Ohio or wabash or whatever. Keeps my fillings in a bit longer. 😂 🍻
The GoPro does an AMAZING job at smoothing out the video! It’s pretty shocking actually. If you’d see how bad the mounts move sometimes that I use on the bumpy stuff, people would be blown away with the quality of the footage!
Look up sugarcamp mountain trails in prestonsburg Kentucky it’s also a gorgeous biking, hiking trail some are more difficult than others but they have a map at the beginning and most apps have their trails
Thanks for the trail tip, I’ll definitely be looking those trails up! Such a gorgeous area!
Thanks for the tour. A friend helped to establish this trail, so it is on my to-do list. Is it entirely paved?
You’re welcome and thank you for watching! Yes, the entire trail is paved! Outside of a few spots where the roots are pushing the asphalt up(and it’s in a very few spots) this trail is butter smooth! Oh, and tell your friend thank you! Beauty of a trail!
Thanks for the video. Newer rider from your home area with ties to Muncie. Hoping to hit that trail after I get my endurance up.
Appreciate you checking out the video! Thank you. It’s a great trail like I said. Indiana really has some great options for riding, whether it be rail trail, quiet country roads, or gravel. Happy trails to you! ✌️🍻
Your sound was too low at the beginning.
Thanks! Yeah I did notice that, sorry.
I was almost all the way through watching your video when I read your video description and was excited to learn that our trip out there inspired you to do this adventure. For the record, your adventure level was a lot higher than ours and I was very happy to see footage of some places that I've yet to venture. Well done!
Hey thanks! I appreciate all of the content you’ve put out over the years. You’ve definitely inspired me to get out and do some two wheeled exploring!
Too sweet!
Congratulations.
Thank you!

Interesting historical details in a local area. I like going along to observe via bicycling, what is seen and historical related entities! Thanks for the sharing of your video!
Thanks Gary! Scouring google maps is one of my favorite things to do to find interesting things to check out. Of course using a bicycle is my favorite means of traveling to actually go and explore those areas I find in person!
Epic 😎
😎
Boy, if those mines up around that area could talk. Great video😎✌️
For sure! Hard, hard work put in up in these old mines!
Beautiful clip! Love your touring videos too!
I’ll be getting back to the cycling content pretty soon! Life/work has been crazy busy! Thanks for sticking around, I appreciate you! 🍻
Greetings similar sized channel. You have just crushed it on some uploads. Peace
Thanks! ✌️🍻
