    You are absolutely correct. I received my Garmin Fenix 7 Pro Solar Sapphire WIFI....yadda yadda and WOW IS THA T SCREEN AWFUL. This watch can ONLY be used outside in bright sunlight. I had to turn the back light to 100% and always on with tilted wrist to see this indoors and that killed 25% battery in 1 day. 900$ for WHAT!!??? Absolute joke.

    Fenix 6 was the last great fenix. I returned my fenix 8s, I didn't find any improvement worth it, if they were going to put a speaker they should have put something louder

    I heard that the sapphire screen on this model in very reflective and hard to read when you are trying to briefly glance at it while exercising.

  • @egimessito6573
    @egimessito6573 6 місяців тому

    Hello McFly! Its a translective display that is why it lasts 10 days. Sapphire glass make it more reflective too but is basically impossible to scratch. Power Glass makes it more readable and higher contrast but easier to scratch. You cannot compare with Amoled displays. It is a differnt concept.

    Saphir glass requires well anti reflective coating, beucause it has the highest refraction index which makes whatever dial is not legible, that ia why mechanical watch manufacturers applies ar coating . The things is a mechanical watches life span can be several decades or even more, so putting saphhire glass makes sense, But these electronic gadgets have lifespan totaly depends on its battery, or other electronic components, which is usually less than 10 years, this makes putting sapphire glass is totally unnecessary while adding extra cost, reducing legibility with lack of expensive ar coating...this is just marketing trick...gorlla glass is more than enough with the quite better legibilty and less scratch resistance.

    It's a MIP display, it actually gets brighter in the sun which is invaluable when outdoors. The Pro sapphire solar has a brighter backlight. What i love about the display is it doesn't kill my battery life everytime i wake up the screen, even with the smallest model i get a good 8 days with all the settings on full blast. So yes, it doesn't look as pretty as the Epix or an Apple or Samsung watch, but the battery life is beyond compare. It's really a watch better suited for people who really are active outdoors. It also tracks my indoor workouts, the backlight is more than adequate for that. If you want the super bright display, get the Epix but you won't have as good battery life.

  • @JustBrowsing777
    @JustBrowsing777 Рік тому

    Epix has an amoled screen far more vibrant but a bit less battery life instead. The watches are extremely simular in terms of features, Epix is built like a tank, a bit more so than Fenix.

    Is the screen visible indoors i know it won’t be as bright as an oled but can you read it during the day either with artificial lighting on or with sunlight indoors

    • @feijoaontoast
      @feijoaontoast Рік тому

      Hi there, The screen IS visible indoors during the day and with the bright artificial light. But not so much with dim ambient light. Also, the readability depends on the type of watch face. The one with various data /small font will be quite hard to read without sufficient lighting or backlight.

    If the colour of the screen is important, buy a amoled screen watch

  • @Andrewolf79
    @Andrewolf79 Рік тому

    You coming from a garmin or a samsung/apple watch?? Yeah can be a bit bugging the colours but u buy this watch for usage and interface in training not for display fancy colours... And the solid pinions .. adds sturdiness to the strap so under hard sports u wont lose it. Don't see these as bad points...not for me at least. Anyways thanks for pointing these valuable details up 👍👍👍

    Why do people need a watch that tells them how far they have walked or jogged/run and their heart rate and a map of where they've been? You can go running with an analogue watch, when you stop and are out of breath you know you've had a workout. If your heart is pounding, well I guess it hasn't stopped. If you can't remember where you just ran for the last hour, better see a doctor, you might be suffering short term memory loss. People have gone tech mad, truly. Why do you need a smart watch when running on a treadmill? What did people do before smart watches? These things are just gimmicks designed to get people to spend money, $1,000 watches? Seriously, WTF? I have a 17yo solar G-shock that cost $75. Still going strong, only replaced the rubber wrist band once no battery needed, never goes flat.
