What most people forget is that french involvement contributed to further crashing their economy, leading to the french Revolution of 1789, leading to napoleon and the french Empire, but that equally ended in disaster and france never really went back to the heights that it did meanwhile the british took over half the world.

When Cornwallis was besieged in Yorktown, the Royal Navy did send a fleet to rescue him. But the French got there first and bombarded him into surrendering. When the British fleet later arrived, they found themselves outnumbered and outgunned 2 to 1, and chose not to engage.

@@UserName-om6ft Complete BS. by 1944, the Free French army was 1.4M strong and the majority to land in Provence and going all the way to Berlin. Even on D-Day the Kiefer Comando was the first to land in Normandy (150+ men under British command). Without the FFI inside the country and their many sacrifices to get there neither Operation Overloard nor Operation Dragoon would have been able to take place let alone succeed. Even on the Eastern Front the biggest air ace (a Black man btw Roger Sauvage) was from the French Normandie-Niemen under Soviet command... The Alsacian Malgré Nous and the fascist Milice were outnumbered maybe 1:10, 000 by these numbers and that did not even count all the interior Resistance.

A very fictional movie lol! No mention of Spanish participation other than the old Spanish mission. Over 100,000 Spanish soldiers and sailors fought against the British helping the United States win their independence! One hundred thousand worldwide but as far as North America about 17,500 Spanish troops all together in Florida and the Caribbean protecting French possessions allowing Degrasse to travel to both the Chesapeake and later Yorktown which Spain also had a huge role in the military planning!

@@UserName-om6ft This is from historian Ed Butler and the Sons of the American Revolution regarding the 17,000 Spanish troops in Florida and the Caribbean which is the Southern theater of North America and as far as the 100,000 that comes from the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute of New York and historian Larrie Ferreiro who said or claims that over 200,000 French and Spanish soldiers fought in the American Revolution! Historian Jose Manuel Guerrero Acosta estimates about 250,000 Spanish and French troops in the American Revolution. Professor Kathleen DuVal said Spain provided more troops than France but sadly gives no number. She also states Spain fought more battles than France and won more victories than France in the American Revolution. Dear Charlotte: "The War has turned!" General Cornwallis took Flight with his Army and moved North. We continued to engage the British within the Months that followed; Cornwallis entrenched himself at Yorktown in Virginia. General Washington escaped from the North and detected and surrounded Cornwallis, who could not retreat to the Seas. He was blocked off from there by our long-lost Friends (the French) who have finally arrived. Though he eventually surrendered, Cornwallis himself hid in Shame, appointing his Subordinate to relinquish his Sword. With the War ending and our Militia disbanding, I take Measure of what we have lost and what we have won; my Hope and Prayer is that the Sacrifice will be born by so many and will spawn and fulfill the Promise of our new Nation. Tell the Children and, especially, Susan that I will keep my Promise, as I will be returning to you all soon. Benjamin

You can literally read echos of the writings from the French philosophers Montesquieu, Rousseau and Voltaire dispersed throughout the document at the National Archives. Ben Franklin himself stated that the "foremost belief of an independent America came to fruition in Philadelphia, but it was born in France."
