    Ciao paisan! I just discovered your channel and I love it. I am a 71 year old baby boomer and I love that you are listening to my generation’s music and enjoying your reaction. I particularly love how you said that Elvis dominated the 60’s UNTIL The Beatles came along and then it was all over. Out went the slicked back hair and tuxedo’s and in came long hair and bell bottom pants! Thank you so much for your reactions!

    First of all, everyone keeps reacting to videos of 1st or 2nd biggest American hits each month in the 1970s, but the problem is these aren't American hits, they're European hits. There were lots of songs popular on both side of the Atlantic, but it wasn't 100%. With that aside, here's some BeeGees trivia. Per these videos, they had the most popular songs in January, February and April 1978 with "How Deep is Your Love", "Stayin' Alive" and "Night Fever." But most folks probably don't know that they also wrote the 2nd most popular songs in March and April 1978, "Emotion" by Samantha Sang and "If I Can't Have You" by Yvonne Elliman. In that 4-month period, more than half of the #1 and #2 hits belonged to them. Amazing run.

    • @PleaseStayTuned-v1q
      @PleaseStayTuned-v1q 9 годин тому

      So their European hits. Thanks for the explanation. I wonder why hot butter popcorn considered a number two song considering the hideous choreography. Even for 1972, it was appalling.

    My father use to listen to early 60s songs in the car when I was a kid. There use to be commercials for CDs with those songs on TV. I like Hit the Road Jack by Ray Charles. I didn't know he sang that song when I first heard it. To me, he was the guy from the Pepsi ads. I remember Mr Lonely from an episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. I heard Baby Love in the first seaason of Full House. I've heard Phil Collins' cover of Can't hurry Love a lot on the radio. I probably heard The Beach Boys in Full House and The Wonder Years. I remember Homer Simpson singing Sugar Sugar.

    Definitely not a video about music in the USA, they have a very insular taste when it comes to music not from their own country. American Woman is an anti American song by a Canadian group, The Guess Who. You should listen to the entire song. Molto potente! Una bomba!

    • @rds3547
      @rds3547 День тому

      You just told me your knowledge of American music taste is equal to your knowledge of the meaning of the song American Woman, which is zero on both counts, according to Burton Cummings who wrote the lyrics, it's not an anti American song, it's a song about how much faster American women matured than the Canadian women he was used to being around, and I guess all those artists from places like the UK, Sweden, Australia, Japan, Canada, and Italy etc., that were major acts on American radio and television, and in concert venues throughout the country were a figment of my imagination, also the fact that early American rock n roll artists were the inspiration for most artists from other countries isn't true. Americans embraced artists from all over the world because they were playing the music that originated here, and doing it exceptionally. You do know that Domenico Modugno won the very first Grammy award here for Song of the Year for Volare`. Last I checked he isn't an American.
