NODES (Part 9) 2024 The much thought about but never mentioned part of this ballpoint pen drawing, otherwise known as the upper right side, has been mentioned. Look for the part where I draw over there. Fun. NODES (Part 6) 2024 This ballpoint pen drawing is nearly done, and yet it still has a ways to go. How can this be? I can see the finish line, and there are still many strokes and taps to utilize as a means of applying the precious ink to the delicate paper. Video Contents: • The intro did its job • A focus on part of the bottom • Music that used only six notes • No singing • I smiled a few time...

NODES (Part 4) 2024 Back on this ballpoint pen drawing. I took a bit of a break, and the break became an extended vacation. It's back in action, and this time I intend to keep it going until it runs out of steam, or ink. Stick a Ballpoint Pen in It

Happy Birthday, Dad! How's it feel to be 93 today? I love you. EQUIDISTANT (Part 7) 2024 Some moons later, this ballpoint pen drawing has come to a close. This final session is quite lengthy, made less-so because I set the bulk of the video to a time-lapse relatively slow speed of 4x. It still clocks in at 1:13:32 in spite of the time-lapse. Well done, everyone give yourself a back massage! Vid...

The Ballpoint Pen Will Discover a Cure
Ballpoint pens are amazing and have great range; I tend to use them for sketching more often than a pencil. The cheaper the better usually! (been using BiC black pens for years now). Good work!
Thank you! Yes, I tend to gravitate to ballpoint. Pencil is another thing altogether, yet also similar. I’ll put up some pencil someday, and I’ll have to get through a backlog of ballpoint. Thanks again!
Beautiful piece.
Thank you for the kind words - appreciated!
P.S. - loved the random stop motion glasses animation, well done.
Thank you! That was fun and surprisingly quick to do.
Have you ever had a problem with the ink fading to yellow? I’ve been using a BIC ballpoint pen with black ink similarly to your style, working in a moleskine sketchbook that has ivory-colored, 165 g/m², acid-free paper. In a short amount of time (a month or two), sections of the black ink have transmuted to a sickly yellow. Not all areas are affected (so far). The worst part is the layers of shading disappear as if the ink has evaporated, leaving behind only a yellow stain. Many hours of work just disappear from the pages. Have you ever experienced this? I don’t know if it’s the paper, the company, the kind of ink, sunlight, the natural oils of my hands… I’m at a loss. I’ve also used a variety of other pens in the sketchbook such as microns, PITT pens, sharpies, markers, etc. with no problems.
Yes, I did have a problem with yellowing, and that was the piece I was less careful about touching. I try not to ever touch the piece itself, though I do use my finger to push down the corner of the paper if/when it becomes warped due to the moisture in the air. The yellowing was where both the ink and the oil from my skin interacted. Not sure what’s going on with your stuff, however.
That sounds very accurate, thanks so much! I’ll have to be more conscious of that in the future. Lesson learned! I appreciate your response and help.
@@deathmetalpotatoIt may be something else, I dunno. It’s a good idea not to touch the paper for other reasons as well, so use something to rest your hand on every time. Best of luck to you!
Very Nice 🤍🤍🤍✍️
Wow!
I am late to the party, but the party was right on time for me. Excellent.
Never late to my parties, pal.
I assume this kind of doodling began after some kind of alien encounter/abduction?
I said to the alien, “I abduct you; you don’t abduct me.”
The intimate breathing, papery, and penstroke sounds are soooo relaxing: instant alpha waves...
Most of my editing involves removing stomach growls 😢
Very Nice 🖤🖤🖤✍️
i enjoy this person
😊
exquisite ASMR 🤤
Very Nice 🖤🤍🤍🖤
very enjoyable stream. reminds me of ken nordine radio program in the '60s...'word jazz'. but youre way too young to remember ken nordine. thank you for sharing your process/art.
So happy you tuned in! Though I was born in the late ‘60s, I’m unaware of Ken Nordine. I’ll investigate. Thank you for your nice comment - appreciated!
Cool piece. I like the balance with the negative space, the white. Great work.
Thank you! I sometimes struggle with “less is more”.
Muito bom ❤❤❤
Very Nice 🖤🤍🖤
Thank you for your video. It's very relaxing to watch. You have lovely timbre to your voice. You might consider double billing this as your art video as well as ASMR by bringing up the sound level of the pen on paper. ❤
Aww, very kind. I discovered recently that these sessions (some? all?) are featured under the ASMR genre, which i did not add. Not sure how that happened. Thank you for your comment!
Love your work brother. Always gives me a boost. Stay welll
Ahh man that’s so nice to know. Thank you!
This session was really fun. The songs, the stories, and the effects/edits were interesting and funny. They made this part really entertaining. Thanks for sharing your imagination.
Thanks buddy; this one’s edit took more out of me than the drawing! Silly stuff.
Nice ✍️
Legal 😃😃😅
What’re we talking about here?
Very Nice 🖤🤍🤍🖤
first video to actually make me fall asleep in months... thank you so very much! <3 (edit: this was under my recommended ASMR vids)
Understandable; I sometimes fight sleep editing these sessions.
Very nice!! I'm new subscriber, excellent drawings you have here! Is that a Bic pen? I use black Bic roundstik for my drawings and the ink is great for shading and for a different line variations.
Thank you for subscribing! Yes, I’m mostly using a fine Bic, as well as a medium. I’m not familiar with Bic Round Stic.
@@sessionseaholm - Excellent & cheap pens! Love them.
are you a teacher or a doctor? just curious. you have their calm, kind demeanor
That’s nice to hear, thank you. I’ve been teaching English in Tokyo since 2001.
@@sessionseaholmwow, i guessed correctly. i’m jealous! Japan is my number one destination i’d love to travel to. it’ll probably never happen though. maybe in the next life
That was a cliffhanger!
I finished that line (spoiler alert, lol).
You ever heard of PeterDraws? UA-camr who posts videos of him doing art. He always sounds calm and relaxed and your video gives me the same vibe. The styles aren’t really similar, but you have things in common.
Yes, PeterDraws creates some wild stuff, and he’s quite prolific. Also, he can spin a good yarn while he’s doing it!
What inspired the name of this piece? That's gonna be a really fun and wild area in the not-quite-the-middle.
I don’t remember why it’s named as it is, lol. If I were to guess, I think he was looking at the Node type things and said, screw it, it’s called Nodes! If I were to guess. And oh yes, it’s getting wild!
Do you find those pens work the best? What makes you choose those pens specifically I guess 😂
There have been two pen makers I’ve used mostly, and one I’m phasing out because they changed the ink formula. This one I’m using now has been consistent for decades. It often takes me many sessions to complete a drawing, so the ink can look the same each time, and that happys me. If you’re interested in achieving the kind of line and softness of gradient you see in these sessions, it doesn’t matter the pen you use if you’re aware of three things - the ink, the nib, and the paper. The ink is oil-based (not water), the nib is fine (not too thick), and the paper is, well, that one is the most difficult to explain. Quality paper isn’t always the best for quality of line. I can achieve very nice results on a type of newsprint, which will fall apart in so many years. My best advice is use an oil-based pen and try it out on paper. What pen and what paper is up to you. I happen to like this one I’m using now. I’ll use a different one in future sessions from time to time, though.
@@sessionseaholm thank you for such a detailed and informative response!
Very Nice 🤍🖤🤍✍️
I'm seeing sharks on motorbikes Dr. Very relaxing. Getting a mid century vibe, very cool.
Another magnificent finish. I'm really liking the EQUIDISTANT properties to the piece. There's lot depth and space to move around with. 10 out of 10. Bring on the next! Happy Birthday, your dad.
You're an incredible artist
That’s very kind of you - thank you!
Very Nice 🖤🤍🤍🖤

I appreciate these long videos it's a pleasure watching the whole thing while doodling alongside
Oh you draw alongside me? The spirit of the collab!
Well done! This is a really wonderful piece and I appreciate you sharing the process along it's way to completion 🚂
Thank you, Tristan! I appreciate you coming along. It means a lot to me.

Thats a beautiful drawing. Greetings from Laos. Ill post somr photos soon. Just checking in. I enjoy your problem solving. Peace out
Thank you so much. I just finished this piece and will upload it later tonight, so check back in tomorrow to see the exciting conclusion! Thanks again.
Amo seus desenhos. I love your drawings.
How in tf
Ha, thanks! Pressure, and time ;)
I really like the direction it went today. That top right is looking tip top. I'm really enjoying the music from the videos and shorts. It makes me think of House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. You're an inspiration to all camping and sandwich enthusiasts!
Thank you, glad you like it! I have the book, but have yet to read it. I do love his sister’s (Poe) music.
Omg I just can’t understandddd, how do you make the lines so smooth? And you’re doing this with A PEN?!?!? Man I am OBSESSED with this. is so satisfying to watch 😩😩
Thank you - means a lot that I can pass on a feeling of satisfaction - thanks again!
Very Nice 🖤
Thank you!
"Now if you'll notice, this goes this way and this goes this way, and that's a problem for me. Sometimes it's not a problem. Here it is..." Very well put! This kind of brevity of observation plays a significant part in my art/intellectual projects. Very nice work.
Thank you! What kind of projects do you have going on? Don’t be hesitant to post a link here!
I think this one is my favorite one you've done so far, i really like the compostion
Thank you! The composition is a bit too right-heavy for me to think it’s completely successful, though I appreciate your taste here, very much. It’s refreshing to hear how others see these. The lay down of the ink and the general weirdness is what I value from this piece. I’m thinking of revisiting it to sort out the lopsided weight, or I could let it go and move on? Thank you for your thoughtful comment; much appreciated!
@@sessionseaholmidk, i get what you mean about the lobsided weight. But if I was in your shoes I'd kinda be scared to touch it honestly, scared to ruin it since it happens kinda often when I draw in pen. Idk what your frequency for botching drawings is tho, you seem to have stuff under control so maybe it would be for the best to shoot for a more balanced composition. Either may much love your stuff is awesome ❤
@@pigeonanimations6118Oh yes I know what you mean! The blank page is the place I feel most comfortable (no way to mess it up), and once any part becomes nice enough to make me want to continue, I’m not entirely comfortable working on it. There’s a thrill there, living on the edge, almost as if I were a gambler. Yes, much of the drawing is covering up perceived “mistakes”. In this drawing’s case, the lopsidedness could be seen more as a feature, so I’ll probably just go with it. btw, one trick I do to get myself over the worry about messing up the drawings is to remind myself I’m the one who got it this far, so there isn’t any reason I’ll not be able to go further.
@@sessionseaholm truee, thats a good way to think of it (the last part)
Great stuff man.
Hey, thanks - I appreciate that!
Very complex dynamics. Fluidity, absence, plasticity, gravity and density of material. Also the discipline of using ball pen. Mad respect for your work sir.
What a review! Thank you for that.
The ballpoint pen needs no title
It’s not unlike it doesn’t need to title.
@sessionseaholm nor wouldn't it need not for a title, neither
