Anyone know where to find weights like that?
Searching for 'disc weights' on Google should find you the results you're looking for!! 🥰
Awesome job! Do you remember what the length or width of the frame of the vehicle was? I know there are different rules this year, but I am asking because so far I'm planning to make the width vehicle around 15cm but I cannot tell if that is too short? Thanks!!
Our vehicle was around 70 cm in length and maybe around 30 cm in width? (I'm guessing here) Good luck with your vehicle!
Great work ! where did you buy those wheels? Thanks.
Wheels were purchased from ServoCity! Specifically, they are listed as '4" Orange Acrylic Disc Wheel' ~ hope this helps!
Do you know which pulley you used or where to buy them from?
The pulley is from Home Depot ~ have it down in my design log as '1 - ½” Wall / Ceiling Mount Pulley' if that helps!
Update (01/19/2024): Proctored at BirdSO Invitationals last week for Scrambler and Wheeled Vehicle! It was really cool to see some scramblers modeled after ours 😆For anyone who's wondering how to achieve a natural curve, a common solution I saw many people doing was launching their car at an angle, and having a _veeery slight_ tilt on the wheels so that it corrects its launch offset! Hope this helps 🥚
Your video has been extremely helpful for my build. I was wondering if you have any insight intobwhy my vehicle keeps jumping on the way out. I know keeping the pulley as low as possible helps, but is there anything else that's a factor? Like the ring that you use, or the material that the ring pulls on?
Aw yay so happy to hear! :D As for the jumping part, could you describe it in more detail? If I had to guess, I would say maybe the string you are using or the way the ring is connected to your car?
I finally stopped the vehicle from jumping by lowering the front pulley mount a lot, practically just right above the top of the wheels. I'm also using a larger ring that is pulling on a thin screw mounted on the back of the vehicle. It finally worked without jumping, so I think the combination of a larger ring and lower pulley helped. But I read somewhere using a dowel (like you) helps avoid the jump as well. I just haven't needed to try that yet. Thanks for your input.
Which rope did you use?? Mine keeps on snapping.
If I recall correctly, we used nylon rope! Make sure that the elasticity of your rope is less, too much stretch could lead to snapping and other unintended effects 😅
In your list does tell how much of each item I need a it very confusing to find parts
Hi! This video just serves to spark some inspiration for your build, so we haven't provided exact numbers or instructions on how to build it! As for sourcing parts, I recommend Home Depot, Lowe's, or any other home improvement store -- also research your area to see if you have any local stores that specialize in parts!
This is my first year doing science olympiad and im doing this event! This year we have a bucket and the scrambler has to curve. Do you have any tips on how to get it to curve on the track?
ua-cam.com/video/LFXPmVsg71Q/v-deo.html That is a video on how to make a steering mechanism on the front, even ifit says wheeled vehicle on the title, it works for scrambler too!
Check pinned comment!
Question, were you guys able to have "natural curve"
Just checked the 2024 rules manual -- looks like there's an addition of a 5 gallon bucket this year? For our year (2022-23), the track was straight, so we didn't need a natural curve 😮
@@paneerarts oh, I see thank you!
this helped a lot
Aw, so happy to hear that!! Glad it could help 💖
