I’d have to sit right on the fence lol. There’s some melodic lines that just slice straight through me, for example the guitar line in Brothers In Arms after the line “every man has to die.” On a lyric front I love the visual way Jim Webb writes, and in Glen Campbell’s last album Ghost On The Canvas, there’s a brilliant line which is “We dream in colours, others they colour their dreams.” I bought the album on the back of that line lol. As a songwriter I tend to write the lyrics first so then I have the rhythm, the story, and the emotion already. 🎹🎤🌍
