Cars For The Clueless
Приєднався 21 тра 2017
Just a regular guy who's always had an interest in cars, but didn't have a clue where to start. In 2015 I decided to learn a few things under the guidance of Keith Radbourne, who's been in the business for over 40 years. I'm sharing what I've learned with you, and hopefully save you a few £/€/$.
Nissan Juke/ Qashqai Traction Control Light HD 720p
Just a quick 45 s video. My ex wife had a problem with her traction control light coming on. She'd taken it to a local garage to solve the problem and they put new lower arms and track rod ends on and it was still happening. She must've been desperate if she asked for my help. I'll get to the point now. The tracking was out on the car by 1.5 degrees. I adjusted the tracking and the problem was solved. You're welcome. Linton

For those of you who suddenly can't close your hood/bonnet. You'll need to fit a weaker spring. This video was done off the cuff, but should give you enough info to do the job yourself. Difficulty level 1.
Ford Fiesta 2013 Gear selector oil seal replacement
Переглядів 14 тис.4 роки тому
I couldn't find anything online to show me how to do this so I had to figure it out myself. This seal fits a variety of Fords, so I reckon it will be a similar procedure for a Focus or C Max. This was done on a 2013 Ford Fiesta

Out of curiosity fella you mentioned the car was a bit running rough did the faulty spark plugs throw an eml up ? Just my brother in law has the same year and model car and his car when idling ticks over nicely but then an intermittent misfire happens it’s also developed a drag going up an hill like hesitation was wondering if replacing the factory fitted plugs would cure this issue even though no engine light appears cheers
@@dalebassett6119 I’d definitely go with changing the plugs first. From memory I don’t think the EML pings on everytime with this problem.
Hi mate l,I got same engine Astra ,and cylinder one started misfiring, same time got ESP fault and flashing engine management light ,should I start with changing spark plugs first ?
Thanks sorted daughters polo in 10 mins👍👍👍
this method worked like a charm, mine was stuck as a rock.. i hit it with a hammer to get it loose and wiggled it around making sure its drippin in WD-40 and it got looser by a mm every couple min untill she just went forth and back <3 ive got a MOT tomorrow so just in time hehe i just fixed it at 2 in the night lmfao i almost thought i had bad luck again cuz it was THAT stuck (i live near the sea and the whole system was very dirty)
This guy knows shit about what he's doing. Nice effort though.
ahh the AC grinding noise...
Thank you. This is the only source of helpful information I've been able to find on this fix.
Blast from the past mate nazareth
Just pulled my daughters plugs69k same car engine owned from new by my dad. Original plugs main dealer serviced until 58k scutter bags
Tks but needed to see step by step
Is there no such thing a adjusting spark plug gaps (on new plugs), these days?
You're missing the return spring
I have same issue, I change Outer Tie Road and Front Lower Control Arm both side and now YAW sensor light came On, i am gonna check allignment then
Very useful 👌
Hi, I’m currently doing this job on my car. I’m at the point of taking that the last bit off the shaft. Mine is also corroded on! I’m hammering on it pretty hard but a bit paranoid about breaking something. The shaft does move in and out. It’s in neutral. Did you have it in neutral? I’m paranoid that the shaft will come out and looked everywhere to find a diagram as to how that shaft is connected or retained in the gearbox. Any advise from anyone would be very appreciated. I’m glad you did this video as it’s the best one on the UA-cam’s! Thanks Dave
Hi Dave. I’m pretty sure it was in neutral. Been a while since I worked on cars, but from memory brute force is the answer. I’d already loosened it and put it back on to video how it was done. I remember much swearing.
@@carsfortheclueless8101 thanks mate, I will give it another go with a bigger hammer 🥴 maybe get some heat on it. Thanks for replying 👍
Hi does a fault spart plugs can make a car doesn't start but engine do chackle when take over the key
Unlikely it would fail all at once. You would get a misfire first.
@@carsfortheclueless8101 ohh understand
@@carsfortheclueless8101 thank you
Mk4 driver side sticking, I have seen people go to lengths to remove that metal piece and clean it and spray the WD within the cliper through the gromment. im going to try what you did there however I got a question, I was wondering what actually returns the metal piece back to its position? where is the spring? Ive seen older models have a physical spring you clip on.
Hi mate thx for the video will be doing the same myself as I have a leak there too. But gonna get the part from ford themselves just to be safe and replace the oil with fresh stuff. Can he tell me tho what the t40 bolt was removed for ?
It was a while since I made this video. I think the T40 removal was to remove a bracket out the way so I could get in to the seal. Get a seal from Ford. I actually had to do this job again after using an eBay one. The genuine Ford one was actually cheaper and worked a treat.
Is it safe to drive even if this light is on mate?
I have a vauxhall mokka. My hand brake keeps freezing up in low temperatures it's badly corroded. I will need to get a wire brush to it should I remove the nut and clean the part that turns same as your bit in video ?
You said it twice "my handbrakes are working bra". Did I hear correctly?
It was probably “ braw “. Scots word for “ good “, but it covers a lot of other words too.
@@Linton309 it sounds an awful lot like the Swedish word for good!
Hi i need help. I have in cilynder 1, 2,3 the values, 146, 37, 13. I have no codes and lights in dashboard, but my engine lose power, is shaking and i feeling this inside in the car, the rpm is not normal, maybe i have to change the ignition coil becouse is the original of the car. My car has 161000 km. Need help
was that English language? 😂
Super instrukcja :) Dziękuję.
The garage quoted 500 to sort a problem that came up as a yaw senor fault on diagnostic machine for a nissan juke 2014 u think it could be the tracking out rather than a fault? Or is it common for the senors to go?
I’m pretty confident it’ll be your tracking/wheel alignment. Get that sorted and the light will go off. I’ve had no bother with the Juke since I fixed it.
@@carsfortheclueless8101 thank you!

Hi I've just recently changed my wheel hub, since I've got a yellow ⚠️ and the traction control light.. Will this be same issue? As it isn't abs cable as that brand new.
I believe it will be the same issue. Sort out the wheel alignment and let me know how you get on. My ex-wife’s car is still running without this light on after my fix.
My polo playa 2001 model , on the dash the hand brake light is dim , sometimes goes off then on again dim even with engine and ignition off, when ignition and engine on hand brake light is bright , why does it dim when hand brake is down it should go off
I have the 2013 Ford Fiesta SE hatchback. Hello I have this very same issue mine is very small no pun intended lol I was just going to ask you if you can demonstrate from very start to finish on how to locate the rear main oil sealant like I said my rear main oil leak is so small that I can't even see any oil dripping down at all. I also use Blue devil to slow down the leak and I believe this Blue Devil works very well with slow and small leaks. Thanks.
Will that single seal stop the oil from leaking? Or is there another seal inside that needs to be replaced? I was quoted a lot of money by a specialist for this job. They said the gearbox would need to be taken off
This is me from my other account. This will only stop it leaking from the gear selector seal. It may be that you have a leak from the drive shaft seal that shouldn’t really need the gear box removed to my knowledge. I’ll ask for you and get back to you.
@@Linton309 I was shown the oil was leaking from the selector shaft seal, but what I meant is if there is another seal for the same shaft, but you can only get to it from the inside? I doubt it though. Also, can you send me a link to where you got the seal from? Cheers
I done all this and my astra 2012 plate is still missing, any ideas what could cause this problem, its not the casket as it ain't losing water or over heating and not mixing, im at my wits end trying to solve this problem Your advice would be much appreciated God bless
thank you for this video it is so clear and helpful
Tracking meaning alignment?
Yes. This is my other UA-cam account
Nice idea
Make more videos man... Waiting
Are you sure the oil is not just going inside the bell housing filling through the reversing light switch? Fill plug is the 8mm hex plug the other side of the casing joint 😬
Yes, I’m sure. It still drains out just the same once filled. I know this because I had to fit a genuine Ford seal after the eBay special leaked. ( The one from the Ford dealer was actually cheaper ).
Hi there, thanks for the vid ... do you know if there are any other seals around that area that could leak? Ours seems to be leaking from higher up :?
Hi Dave. It may be your drive shaft oil seal? Gearbox oil has a distinctive, not very pleasant smell. If it’s gearbox oil then I suspect your drive shaft oil seal in the gearbox. It’s not a job I’ve done yet I’m afraid.
@@carsfortheclueless8101 Thanks for the info :) I'll be topping up the oil for now to be on the safe side and having a closer look. Garage have advised the box possibly needs to come out ad be stripped down by a specialist.
@@carsfortheclueless8101 Hi there I've tackled the job today and it is indeed my selector shaft seal. However in at the point of removing the old seal from the box and it just will not come out. To the point where the metal ring is bending up under the screwdriver. Did yours give you any problems to remove?
brilliant
Hi I just got the same car and I have that juddering. I put it back and they changed the coil pack. They said they saw a bit of corrosion but I still feel it juddering! I bet it needs new spark plugs aswell! Its got 65k on the clock with full vauxhall service history.....apparently! Think ill put it to my local garage for a proper service

basic maintenance for any motor vehicle can make it last 5x the expected life.
Thanks for the helpfully video! Could you help me about a few question? What was the part number for the original GM spark plugs? Or are there any alternative option about the spark plugs? My inforamtion is that the genuine GM plugs produced by Bosch... What is the best spark plug for A16XER? I bought the same car (Astra J 2001, A16XER) one month ago and i hear the same voice ont he video 7:15-7:21 under the engine is idling. What cause this?
I'm lucky that I can just give the registration to the parts supplier and they then supply the right part. If in doubt, contact the supplier and they'll let you know the correct part number.
The plug to refill is an 8mm Allen plug just above the selector shaft. Fill until it just seeps out.
mine fucking sheered
Thank you. I am about to do this job and I was taking once last glance at the Internet, just in case I missed some info. I too had only seen the one other video that doesn't show the important part. I was hoping the 16mm socket was going to work but I guess I'll go buy a new wrench. The actual repair manual says something about putting adhesive tape around selector shaft to avoid damage to seal when installing. And then warns not to leave any tape. I have a better understanding of what/where the repair manual meant.
u dident push orange tap back to lock cable socket on right lol on coil pack plug
Done it, engine still runs so I guess it went well.
I have the same catr when under load it judders ever so slightly like pulling 2nd and using a high could thi k it might be the coil pack
I just bought a 2013 1.6 petrol exact same problem. Put it back to dealer they changed coil pack but it still judder. What fixed yours?
@@davidpearson85 it was the coil pack it's fixed now
Hey how was yours fixed @davidpearson85
