In the Wild - The Old Gents Spring Car Show 2022
Переглядів 2012 роки тому
This is the first of what I'm calling my "In the Wild" videos. Just getting out. going to meets and shows, and talking to people about their cars! In this video we ran over to The Old Gents Annual Spring Car Show. Just a fun little show with some great cars to see. Met some people, did a little Fox Mustang roundup, and even had a surprise NSX stop by.
The Stifflers FIT System - 1979-93 Mustang Install, Test Drive, and Thoughts
Переглядів 7 тис.2 роки тому
Welcome to the first video of the channel! I'm a video and film guy by trade, but I'm not at all used to being in front of the camera.... So you know, not nervous at all, haha... In this video we're going to talk about improving the subframe system on my 1986 Mustang GT and giving you a very comprehensive walkthrough of how to install the Stifflers Chassis & Suspension FIT System. As well as an...
Beyond connecting the subframes far more benefit comes from adding vertical structure (e.g. a roll bar or cage). A person need only dimple a piece of sheet metal to see the greater torsional resistance that results from adding perpendicular structure. There is marginal benefit from tying the subframe connectors to the rocker rails but that wasn't necessary on my 86 hatch.
Good video. You're the first person known what they are doing.
Thanks for watching :)
You could have made this a 15 minute video without all the useless yammering
Man you did a fantastic job on this video! I bought this kit for my 91 vert awhile, back but haven't gotten installed yet. I have to fix the floor pans and a few other things first
Thanks man! I appreciate the message! Good luck on your project!
Thanks for the awesome plug/review of my 'ol convertible hot rod. Great video overall!
Had to stop watching. Bad case of Vertigo, you have to figure out how to shoot videos that doesn’t remind us of “NYPD Blue” that old TV COP show
awesome job that should stiff in the car up greatly. people don't understand how much work it takes to do this stuff I deal with customers all the time and they think it's a wham bam oh that's easy. and it's not easy it just takes a lot of time and a lot of thinking of how you want it. looks great keep the videos coming.
Thank you so much for the comment! There’s definitely more videos to come! We’ve had a medical emergency in the family that has slowed things down lately.
I put the same FITS system on my 88 GT convertible, and made a huge difference in chassis rigidity and steering response.
Great to hear!
Question. Did your 88 Vert have something already welded to the pinch welds? Because my 87 Vert does and I'm not sure this system will accommodate for that, thanks. What I mean is... Will that pinch weld rail tuck up in the spot where my factory pinch weld already has a rail
Correction for myself at 12:56 that's not a 73 Mach 1. You can tell by the horizontal blinkers in the grill. 73 went to vertical blinkers in the grill. I believe this is a 71. What I'm not sure about (and why I thought it was a 73) is the body color painted bumper. I was under the impression that all 71-72s had chrome bumpers and 73s had painted ones. Anyone know? I'm guessing it's an option since I've seen both.
Any Bronco color is a good Bronco color
They have some... heritage editions... I think they're called. A couple cool color combos in there that call back to the 60s-70s ones that I like a lot.

William and Theodore’s!
Hahahaha
“Most Excellent” video! “San Dimas High School Football Rules!”
And.... Party on dudes!
Thanks man!
Great video babe! Short and sweet 😉 Cool to see the fox community and people getting out for a fun summer get-together.
Thanks babe!
Great work! I agree, we have a great group here!
Now let's just get a few hundred more to show up at meets, haha! But we've got a good core.
@@unbound_classic I've been trying to get Frankie painted, so that's what I spent my day doing. I wish I would have been done by then.
@@89G it's looking good man! What's left? Clear coat?
@@unbound_classic yep! I hope it turns out ok.
@@89G good luck man!

Do jacking rails add any chassis rigidity ?
You mean the outer rails that are welded to the pinch welds in this kit?
@@unbound_classic yes
@@anthonycardona3141 I mean, some. At very least you have a place to jack that's reinforced. But it's not going to be nearly as strengthened as if it's connected to the subframe connectors via the cross webbing. The car needs that front to back but also side to side strength, IMO.
I just like to think of the Mustang Mach-E as it’s own thing. As if Mustang was a performance indicator like Shelby or AMG and they stuck it on a SUV.
The 3v shelby GT is nice but its an appearance package and a mild tune i believe
Thats a neat CAI in the splitter
Ya it's a pretty slick idea.
Ya it's a pretty slick idea.
Well ik not going to lie the thumbnail drew me immediately lol. But I may be biased to Bosses for obvious reasons
Well, I mean I can’t really blame you! Haha. Got to love a Boss 302.
What's everyone's thoughts on the Mustang Mach E at 19:30? Let me know below. And what was your favorite car in the show?
Mach Es would be a nice daily imo, I dont mind them but don't believe batteries are the way forward.
Sweet!
Agreed!
Thanks for the plug! Great video, my friend!
Just realized I was at the end of the video too.... I need to get those 2.73's out of there.
@@89G it sounds good though! Thanks for watching!
My favorite was the Jag
Ya that thing was awesome. The engine is really unique.
Would love to hear everyone's thoughts about all the cars we saw! Also what generation Mustang is your favorite!?
Great vid! Are you going to be at the All Ford show at LHM Ford Store on May 7th?
Oh I'm definitely planning to! It was a great show last year.
Did your car have those metal support plates on the torque boxes and up by the front floor boards?
Do you specific times in the video where they show up so I know for sure what you are referring to? I did add torque box reinforcement plates for the rear control arms, but I don’t recall showing those in the video.
Good video. Any idea on how much weight it adds?
I believe 40 lbs for the whole setup for this year kit. But I’d confirm with Stifflers.
Thanks for watching!
Nice work!
Thanks Justin!
Great video I always thought of getting this kit eventually
Very worth it. Thanks for checking it out.
Yeah definitely nice having friends with a lift
Ya that was essential on this one.
The Standard and metric messes with me from time to time
Just never know what you're going to get, lol.
That kit looks substantial, nice that the welding surface is left prepped to get right to it
Definitely.
Very professional video! Awesome quality man. I want to do this to my Vert. Never wanted a vert but the deal was too good to pass up
I appreciate that! I'm sure your vert would love it! haha It's essentially the same for the convertible but you don't need the outer rails from Stifflers.
Hey Brailsford! 👋
@@89G whats up brother
@@BrailsfordsRides just working on the Fox's. Hoping to have everything ready for the big car show... and hoping @unbound classic makes it too!
@@89G I should make it. There’s a small chance I’ll go out of state for work that weekend but it doesn’t look likely.
Great work, my friend. These just may end up on Frankie. I'm fairly certain the 351 will make it twist.
That's a good point. Just get ahead of it.
If you use a stud for the rear seat bolts(similar to the front) it will be easier in the future to pull the seats if needed. Longer bolts with nuts are a little more work to get out than just a nut.
Ya that's a good point. I needed the longer bolts and nuts to do the install but once it's welded in it's not crucial to keep the long bolts.
@@unbound_classic can also just cut the head off and add a washer and nut.
Nice work! Super stoked to see what else you put on this channel. Hopefully we will get a foxbody on our channel someday soon! You tease a motor swap! What are you doing??
I have a fresh 302 bored to 306 with a mildly upgraded cam that's ready to go in. That'll be my it's "new and reliably" engine for now. The original 262,000 mile engine, while strong, drinks oil. It will be pulled and eventually become a well built up 331 Stoker beast.
