Batteries on older hybrids do get replaced. In fact this actual bus got it's battery replaced last year; the last in the whole batch to be done after 2 years running on diesel. Not sure some why somel run in diesel mode though. I myself also noticed weird hybrid failures on quite an few Gemini 2 buses across operators, after an year or so with batteries replaced.

I also miss this batch esp this HV15 example as sounded quite distinct as an earlier batch. I want to upload an 50 bus journey using a Gemini 2. Last time I tried, I wasn’t happy with the quality of journey long term and hard to get a Gemini 2 that has a properly working battery set working properly. Even when I look at 2011 examples. 62 regs are sadly no go as well as I always see those examples with an hybrid failure and annoying engine palpitations.

⁠​⁠@@mudkipdanHV15 is still in service so ignore what I said about that. Majority of the 60/11 reg HVs that are still in service for the 50 have gotten tired in recent months although some like HV25 are still good and revvy. Shame HV24 was withdrawn as that had a nice overrev when stationary and sounded unique. It’ll be a shame to see more go when the 50 moves to TH soon and gets Electroliners, I do hope they put the HVs back on the 217 though

@@zfs.59 Sad to see more examples get withdrawn more so the more distinct ones in the same batch myself. I think diesels seem to be preferred on the 217 for now that Ts are more free.

Yep, Metrobuses and Titans were the staple of my youth in North London, I've yet to catch a Titan on a running day so will keep my eyes open! It's good to see a young following as well, as the next generation takes an interest. I'll look forward to your future uploads, also I don't know if you have the 2nd part of that journey on M394 back to Golders Green - although, it was interrupted somewhat!

There is barking open day tomorrow, which is promised a Titan and an Metrobus. Glad to hear it. I sadly binned my 2nd 394 journey as didn’t like even for personal use. Your 2nd journey comment does make me wonder if I should do part 2 of reverse journeys , got a few on my hard drive.

Probably right. I wouldn't say its turbo though. Fixed years ago. Will probably do an better version of this video as revs here don't do it justice.

Liked the video tho, I can tell its the turbo as I can hear it every time the throttle is being pressed@@mudkipdan

All good, and yes was fascinating the route got brought back as a partial recreation, which in itself was a blink or you’ll miss it event if not privy to this bus working. 👍

@@mudkipdan That's right, it's one of those things that only happens once or very few times.

The owner did an outstanding job refurbishing the bus for sure. More so with seat re -trimming. In-spite of stock limitations.

Thank you! Yeah this route took me 3 attempts to do due to hybrid failure issues and/or that annoying engine vibration that plagues G2 B5LHs at times.

I was wondering why the breaking on this one was sounding so rough. Makes sense.

@@mudkipdan it's the build up of brake dust on the inside of the drum which causes the shuddering

I always attend those in and out of London when I can.
