Modeling Junk Is An Art

Junk is a model like anything else on your layout so it requires so creativity to "arrange" your junk so it looks real and some serious weathering to make it look like junk that has been in scrapyard for a while. Junk is good!
Turntable Demonstration On The Sundance Central Modular Railroad
Переглядів 3,6 тис.3 роки тому
Here's a quick video showing the manual operation of our turntable (just like the prototype) known as an "armstrong turntable" because two people with strong arms actually turned the locomotive. The Sundance Central is a Fn3 layout (1:20.3 scale) as part of the Suncoast Center for Finescale Modeling in Odessa, Florida.

Good grief, are there any videos of the F&SM on here that don’t have annoying background music?!!
fun
Nice layout.
you need a stronger microphone..
Having a 12x84 on 2 decks can't seem to get anyone to operate with me so what do I do, any ideas.
My suggestion is reach out model railroad groups and clubs in your area to see if there are any operations groups. The NMRA also has an ops special interest group and there may be some people in your area.
Perfect spot on paint job. Its the only one i have seen done just right. So many mess up the weathering. This is 10 out of 10!!❤❤❤❤
Sadly, these fine people are losing their home and this amazing collection of scenes will be dismantled and parceled out to folks willing to preserve and utilize this fine work. I note this UA-cam channel has only 878 subscribers which seems criminal to me given how fine the work done is. Thanks to everyone who made this happen. I'm in awe!
Thanks, Curtis. The Sundance Central was the centerpiece of the museum and it will be in Paso Robles, CA at Tin City after January as a permanent display there. Keep sharing our videos. We do hope to gain more subscribers in the future.
Selling the Center???? Screw intellectual pursuits, screw art, screw teaching and inspiring kids ... maybe some POS needs more money to send their kids off to Mickey's in Orlando.
What battery RC system do you use?
We use Airwire which is a wireless DCC system. The batteries are 14.4 volt packs, lithium ion, similar to what you see in RC controlled cars.
Wow!!!! 👍🏼👍🏼
I'm interested in 2-rail O scale operations. Where do I go to find info about 2-rail DC locomotives? Everything I've seen in the past was 3-rail and that does not interest me.
I would suggest you look up O Scale Kings, and organization devoted to O scale two-rail trains. They have a Facebook page and and a website.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. This is why I love narrow gauge plus the KISS principle.
Stunning!!! Question: Is from Deagostini??? Greetings from Mexico City!!!
nope. The Deagostini model is NOT studio scale, but half scale. This model was scratch built and is full studio scale. This is a custom model, not off the shelf.
@@davepastern and @Franciszek64, The Deagostini IS studio scale, but corresponding to the 32" Falcon they built for the Empire Strikes Back and used again in Return of the Jedi. The larger model in this video is ALSO Studio Scale as it corresponds with the five-foot model made for the New Hope. ILM actually built the Falcon in several sizes, but the 32" and the five-footer were the most prominent. So BOTH the beautiful very large model in this video is studio scale and the smaller 32-inch Deafostini; they just represent different versions of the Falcon portrayed by different filming models.
Incredible Work. You should try the large Bragdon rock molds for mountains. Perfect for large scales
Awesome looking model.
What smoke units do you guys use?
We use MTH smoke units.
@@suncoastcenterforfinescale5802 awesome, thank you
is the loco battery powered? or do you maintain track power on that turntable?
Yes, the locomotive is equipped with Airwire wireless DCC and is operated with one 14v Lithium battery pack. There is no track power on the layout,
I will love one
How much does the train cost
It has been sold. The cost for the Accucraft brass locomotive that includes battery and wireless DCC conversion is about $2500.
I know someone who is interested in have one of the trains
I am sorry you guys are closing down
Now that they are closed, is this Falcon Model on display anywhere else?
Hi
We live just 30 minutes from here in winter, I never knew! I was so excited to see this but then when I looked up the website, I discovered that it is permanently closed! How sad is that? It looks like I missed a wonderful opportunity.
Absolutely wonderful--the modeling, the operation, and your video presentation!
OMG WHAT HAPPENED??? You're permanently closed?? I was going to visit next weekend. I have been so excited to see all the great work and train displays. I am devastated 😞

High Art! What’s the music?
Very nice layout!!!
wow, all I can say is WOW. great job on the detail.
NW ... what type of locomotive is it?
Atlas O EMD GP35. It’s decorated for the Norfolk and Western.
Why does this not have a million views! Absolutely mind blowing talent on display…wow! Incredible.
Thank you, Martin. We do love to share our work. We wish everyone could visit in person in our Florida home.
Very realistic. So good.
Ding ding! I'm a tram and I approve this video! :)
For "O" Scale, that's an impressive operation considering the limited space. I was following each locomotive move made on the video and comparing it to the track plan shown at 4:00 minutes. But they don't match up. The actual layout has trackage and turnouts not shown on the layout drawing. Was additional trackage added later to improve operations? Great layout and very well made video! I hope to see it in person and operate it someday!
I hope you do get a chance to see the railroad someday (and operate it). Yes, we enhanced the track layout a bit after the layout drawing was complete which is why you see the discrepancy.
Very awesome. Told my friend about the Suncoast Center. He went and told me about this fire that I don't recall from visits in past years. Guess it's time to visit again :)
We'd love to have you back! We are open the third Saturday of the month September through May.
Nice video like and subscribed from Czech Republic 🙂👍👍👍
Happy to have you as a subscriber. I love Prague as a destination:)
@@suncoastcenterforfinescale5802 you're welcome 🙂
Super layout . How did you obtain the building flats? 3D, make them or buy them? Everything looks amazing. New subscriber here.
Hi, Dennis. The building flats are a mixture of scratch-built and modified kit structures. The Westinghouse factory is scratch-built as is the distillery. The others are modified kits.
Really great scenery work. The one thing that needs to happen to compliment that level of skill and effort, would be to “dial in” your starting voltage, mid voltage and end voltage. The high hood is starting and stopping too fast to be realistic. Other then that, this is awesome!👍🏻
I agree, Timothy, and we have done that since shooting this video. The big challenge for the video was I could not narrate it and run the train at the same time so our operator got a bit heavy handed on the throttle:)
Excellent video. Subscrito a tu chanel 👌🤙
Very realistic simulation. However, "Lightning" is what causes forest fires. "Lightening" is removing some elements to make the area "lighter". Just saying. :)
Exceptional modeling and video. Thank you.
Really nice looking! Where is the B&LE rolling stock hiding? LOL! :)
thank you share the detail video
A masterpiece !!!
Thanks, Dom! We had fun building it and it is very popular during open houses.
Not for nothing, but a very good video,, want to make it great?? S-L-O-W D-O-W-N,,,,, I saw John Wayne for 2 whole seconds,, and Hes one of the main attractions there,,, so take you time and stop now and then and focus on the "central diorama" what you are seeing yourself,, otherwise, you hit a few I have never seen ,, and thank you for that,, hope to be there one day, even for a single visit,,, TC Edward
I'm interested in learning more about O scale trains do you have any latest videos about your layouts cheers from Bruce
Fantastic layout switching is more interesting than watching trains go round in a circle I'm from new Zealand switching is called shunting in new Zealand railway yards cheers from Bruce Blenheim south island new Zealand
Thanks, Bruce! I know about shunting as I have been to New Zealand four times in the last five years and spent time in the South Island. In fact, I took the Trans Alpine Express from Christchurch to Greymouth and back. It was a fantastic trip!
Glad you had a good trip on trans alpine Express cheers from Bruce
