Melting of mixed household waste, pyrolysis
Household waste contains various materials that can be separated in various ways. One way is to melt inside a wide inclined tube that is heated from below. Fats, wax and paraffins first flow out of the tube. In order to prevent the waste from igniting, the inlet and outlet of the pipe must have a cover that prevents air from entering the pipe. If there is a large percentage of plastic in the wa...
Can mixed household waste be turned into a useful product?
Mixed household waste is most often disposed of in landfills, and in some cases it is burned in thermal power plants for energy production. Such waste usually contains up to 30 percent plastic. Plastic melts at a temperature of 180 to 200 degrees Celsius. In order to use mixed household waste as raw material, it needs to be finely chopped and heated to 200 degrees Celsius. Snail trap
In nature, snails feed at night and in the rain. During the day, in dry weather, they look for dark and moist places. They make houses from carbon from food and thus permanently convert CO2 into sediment. Wet straw or leaves ferment, thus attracting snails with their smell. Crates filled with moist straw or leaves provide snails with shelter from predators and sunlight.

The pyramid-shaped base allows the installation of the wind turbine under the roofs of houses, and the rotor above the roof, and even on ships. The advantage is that the electric generator is located low, so it can be easily replaced. On ships, it is possible to place the generator on the bottom of the ship, and then the generator also serves as ballast.

----- (en) I like the idea of the sail system. When I spread the sails, the wind turbine starts to work in a wind of about 15, up to 2 meters per second. As soon as the wind speed exceeds 5-6 meters per second I have to start reducing the sails, so that the turbine is not damaged. The obtained energy changes very quickly with the wind speed, the power depends on the third power of the wind speed. A slightly stronger wind gives a lot more power. With the sails gathered, it starts to work in winds of 7-8 meters per second. as soon as the 1 kw generator starts spinning, supply voltage and charge the batteries. For now, I don't have a mechanism that would automatically retract and extend the sails. I don't have enough knowledge about microcontroller programming. Weak winds provide little energy, but provide a much greater number of hours of operation, which reduces the need for batteries. In my experience, it is best to have three sails. With a larger number of sails, the front sails would create eddies with the sails that are behind, and the rear sails could, at certain moments, even slow down the rotation.

In 2007, I showed the results of my measurements to some university professors, and they replied that they did not believe it. I told them all to bring their instruments and let them measure whatever they wanted. They all wanted me to pay for it, and they would charge more than I spend on building the prototype. However, some others took measurements. A university in Australia published results that I recently found; ro.uow.edu.au/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1958&context=engpapers aip.scitation.org/doi/full/10.1063/1.4943093 This turbine was also developed by a medium-sized company in the Czech Republic. ua-cam.com/video/0YhiUELt72Y/v-deo.html They published their measurement results, but some world scientific "authorities" told them they were lying. The prototype was made by order of the army, with the requirement that the turbine be portable and that it can be quickly placed in a new position, or moved to another position. That's why they put the turbine on the container, not on the ground. When they were shown the prototype, the army refused the order under the pretext that the model was too expensive. And it is expensive because in the price structure, the container and the lifting mechanism make up the vast majority of the cost. After that, they gave up on further work on it. There were other manufacturers who gave up production after developing a prototype. One in Britain was also ordered for development by the US Army. ua-cam.com/video/rnM1RxzfIdo/v-deo.html When production was supposed to start, the army gave up under the pretext that they did not have a patent for all the parts. A Chinese company started a campaign to sell what they had announced on Amazon. ua-cam.com/video/lE6yDTVR35c/v-deo.html After a month, the company disappeared from the Chinese register of companies, and the ad for sale from Amazon was also removed. Compared to the above models, my latest model has several additional advantages. 1) has a mechanism for retracting and expanding the sails. 2) It can be mounted by one man without the use of truck cranes. 3) The generator is located on the ground, and is easy to lubricate, service, or replace in case of failure.

In the last 15 years I have made several models of this wind turbine that I have posted on youtube. On each model I tested some other circuits, or variants of assemblies. A list of shots can be seen here. ua-cam.com/video/IX27qvPlHsI/v-deo.html I wrote a book about this wind turbine in which, among other things, the principle of operation of individual assemblies is described, as well as drawings of some parts. You can read it using google translate on the portal; www.scribd.com/document/552076124/Knjiga-o-Vjetroturbini-sa-jedrima-III-dopunjeno-izdanje I made this last model with the aim of making a machine that can be mounted on ships. To that end, I extended the wings three times compared to the previous model. The forks that hold the sails are 3 meters by 1.5 meters, and the sides of the sails are a little smaller. The pipes holding the forks are 1.5 meters long. This gives three times more usable area, compared to the last model shown on this channel, while maintaining the height of the rotor, so that too high a wind turbine would not capsize the ship. To make this model, you first need to get one low-speed generator that runs at 50 rpm, along with a voltage converter. I ordered my copy from China. The power of the generator depends on the energy needs and the windiness of the terrain where the turbine will be installed. Wind power depends on the third power potential of the wind speed, so it is necessary to install a generator that will work as many working hours as possible. This is important in order to invest as little as possible in batteries. A smaller generator achieves more operating hours, while a larger one produces more power but achieves fewer operating hours. The optimal generator size depends on the windiness at the microlocation. In addition to the generator, it is necessary to buy three small differentials with a gear ratio of ½. I got them from Italy. It is necessary to order the production of one three-way differential 1 / 1x3. It is also necessary to purchase 3 small servo motors for collecting and spreading sails. It is also necessary to purchase 6 small electrical switches, pushbuttons that interrupt the pressure circuit. They need to be fitted with diodes that transmit electricity in one direction and interrupt in the other direction. The switches are placed in the middle and on the edges of the sails. The mechanism for collecting and spreading the sails can work without these buttons, but they increase the safety of work. The dimensions of all other parts need to be adjusted to the size of the generator and the purchased differentials. If I were to do this last model again now I would take all the pipes a little wider. The hardest part for me was getting four pairs of sliding brushes with a brush housing, for transmitting electricity from the battery to the servo motor for collecting and spreading the sails. Because of this, I had to make the brush case out of plasticine, a soft material used by children to model figurines that harden after about ten hours. Everything else can be done in each garage with a grinder and a welding machine.
