Informative 😊 psych resident here ❤ can you mention the reference ?
That is my professor!
Thank you! This was very helpful.
This is excellent information! I have heard other people talk about it and read books about it, but much of it seems to be written with an expectation of familiarity with neuroanatomy and biology. The concept of how addiction takes away rational choice is so important I have really been looking for a better translation. Your explanation and reference to the brain structures in the images have filled in a lot of gaps, for me. If I want to be able to explain it to clients, in future, I need to understand it completely. This was the most important piece of my own recovery, because I FINALLY believed I was not fundamentally flawed, just fundamentally human! It took the stigma away. But if anyone thinks that “let me off the hook,” they are wrong. Now I know that if I reintroduce that substance (or another addictive substance), all choices I have worked so hard to recover can once again disappear!
Hey professor! Just a head's up, the vintage ad for Heineken is photoshopped! The original ad is actually for 7up! Definitely just as disturbing though. images.app.goo.gl/zrRuEpBZGBaHT3pk8
Non engaging. Seems like she’s reading aloud from the book. “Assumes” a lot. - Top 100 communities? What does it mean? - What is “effective” education? - You see the abuser, not the human behind the abuse. - Your source material seems weird, and non-factual. - How does nutrition affect substance abuse, and what is your source? Where’s the study drugs? - Adderall - Ritalin - These are mostly prominent in areas of high education and probably a part of the “top 100 communities” - What about substances like different kinds of hormones, steroids and so forth, when it comes to kids who have responsibilities in sports? They learn to compete, and they learn to help each other in team-sports, but still participate substance-abuse. And again a part of the “top 100 communities” The Opioid crisis. - If a kid gets hurt, they are handed opioids. This has nothing to do with any of what you mentioned in the video. The prestige of substance abuse - When capitalism exists, drugs are to be had. - Alcohol abuse is really significant in richer, smarter people.
