What's been going on at Hudson Lighting? April 24 vLog #142

It's been forever since I've done any kind of update on once going on in the business. This video it's mostly on spending and although things could be seen as unnecessary they are the reason we need excess of cash in the business.
Progress on improvements to our product line
Переглядів 2572 місяці тому
We've been working on some improvements that could change up our whole product line...for the better. Double seals! That's on 3 parts which make up the sealing on the lights, this could be a huge change that can add so much more longevity to the fittings.

Unboxing Therapy: Micro spike spot light
I like all of them except the second. How about this idea...Can you design it to where the customer can change the lighting between them? Down only? Up only? One side of either? One side only? Both sides of a combo?
Interesting, 2nd was my original proposal...before I saw it in 3D Could easily add zones so they could switch but the price may not be worth it
Yeah. I figure the price would be horrible but it sure beats not being happy with your first choice after paying for it.
1. As you progres with spins give a knob half turn so you cut deeper into armor. 2. As you draw back the blade. There is a spring bushing blade, if you retract it you can take cable off quicker.
Honest video, thanks.
Great stuff. I think more of this type of approach is needed, even if there's some more expense involved. You know, I had a tin opener I used from when I was six years old to when I was thirty six then it finally broke - one tool, thirty years. I'm forty-five now and guess how many tin openers I've had in the last ten years? Well, I'm not sure, because it's THAT MANY but at least ten because that's as far back as my Amazon account goes. Ten or more in ten years, verse one in thirty...... I'd have paid treble for a high quality one like the old days.
I was just saying to someone the other day, I wish we had more of the way we used to make things. Occasionally I'll come across a machine that's 50-60 years old and still going stong
This is so confusing. Also the music is so high it doesn't help.
Nice work I'm a job seeker
It's painful watching how fast those parts were being moved from one process tank to the next; so much drag-out!
You know, I actually didn't notice, thanks for pointing it out, I'll raise it in the morning meeting
I wouldn't want to hold it there for very long, either, because that would wear out the shoulders over a full workday but maybe a hook or three can be fashioned/installed on the top of those tanks to allow for 5-10 seconds of dripping. Engineer the process. Which process? All of them!
@@RobertDinTulsa Absolutely! Watch this space 🙂
Good thing people are thinking about this. Especially with cheap LEDs people are polluting with lights.
Have you got the plans for printing off the spike ?
Proper quality Chris 👏

Great video, what’s next ?
Way too much motion my lad. Get some air tools in your life. Save at least 45 seconds. 🎉
Amazing Video Chris!! Connecting the work love it ❤
Thanks Jack, you and your time definitely inspired this
That is a truly great end to the year! It's been a real inspiration following along on your progress - I remember that CL-1 wedged into your garage, so to see where you are now is fantastic. Just a great team effort all round 😁 Merry Christmas from New Zealand 🥳
Thank you so much, sometimes I reminisce the days of the garage and the CL-1. The struggle just getting decent machined parts. People say don't blame the tool, but damn, a decent tool makes all the difference. Have a wonderful Christmas and New year too!
What's hard about it ?? The clue is in the constant current part of the description 😂
Why o why ?? What did that poor little led do to you ??
Fix your audio pls
Well done chris Quality products
Thanks Keith! I'm looking forward to sharing the last bit of this before Christmas, lots improved on that line
I told a family member that I wanted custom copper tops for last christmas. I ended up in a hairdressers.
😂😂
Please stop adding music to your video
Very helpful! Thanks
Keeping the lids on/closed on all tanks to reduce evaporation is a good move.
Saves energy too. We need to create hinges etc for them next
What do you think about sealing the under-side of the lid? Soft-closing hinges may cost more but the operator can close the lid, walk-away and move on to the next process w/o regard to the lid actually closing.
@@RobertDinTulsa I'm considering trialing window actuators because the plan is to automate the line with an overhead linear rail but we need to keep the lids. Just testing hard anodising this morning as we have the anodise solution at -1.8C
the issue in scotland for me is nobody can do it very well. I have looked into it and want to start a small plant for our own components. .
You should already know that I found you through 2 Second Lean. Miss your other/older videos but I understand why. Improve for next time → downloadable fact sheet (something very, VERY simple). Suggestion for next time → Top three complaints after the fact by external customers.
I'm 100% going to do that, Thanks Robert. FYI, there is a separate improvement channel, if you search Hudson Lighting improvements
Always retract the blade on a Stanley knife when not in use.
It's a fixed blade, can't be retracted
What a piece of kit! ❤
