Cartier for Nature, Cartier China & China Green Foundation Celebrate World Snow Leopard Day
Since 2022, Cartier for Nature is supporting a programme in China's Three-River-Source National Park to monitor and conserve snow leopards and their mountain ecosystem, in partnership with China Green Foundation.
On 23rd October 2024, which is celebrated as "World Snow Leopard Day", we are pleased to invite you on a journey to the realm of the snow leopard, high on the Tibetan Plateau, in this new video. In the video, you'll have the chance to meet some of the almost 400 Tibetan herders who are actively engaged in research and conservation work by setting up and maintaining a network of infrared cameras that capture photos and videos of the area's abundant wildlife.
Living side by side with a large carnivore such as the snow leopard is challenging for people who make a living by herding livestock - which makes their commitment to preserving their treasured homeland and its wildlife all the more inspiring.
