Any bottles you're really looking forward to getting this year? Whisky Exchange have some great exclusive bottles if you're looking to add to your Specials; I've got their Havana Club 11, Foursquare Elysium and Mount Gay Select casks which are all fairly rare but there's around 2400-2500 of each of those so not as unique as your Goslings! Are there any countries you're looking to get into? Looking at my shelves most of my rum is from Jamaica, followed by Barbados, Cuba, St Lucia, Guyana then just a few from other places. I've seen some interesting rum from Haiti that I might try to track down 🤔

I really wanted to like this rum more than I did, I found it quite one dimensional. I'm a big fan of Chairman's Reserve and the story behind the "forgotten casks" is pretty cool. This made quite a good Daiquiri but I preferred Chairman's Reserve Legacy, which was also really good in a Mai Tai. Hope you had a good Christmas too 😊

I just won a bottle of Kraken Rum at Grab Bag party. I usually don't drink rum, but I really like the flavor. I think you didn't give it a proper analysis. I was taught that the second sip should be taken about 5 seconds after the first so your tongue can taste the flavors and not the alcohol. After all, it is 92%. It's also fantastic with eggnog.

What other white rums have you reviewed? I haven't tried the one you mentioned. Might be good to do a Daiquiri test for white rums, I haven't had one yet that I would sip neat. Diplomatico Planas claims to be a sipping rum but i wasn't a fan. I wanted to like Chairman's Reserve more than I did but I prefer Veritas/Probitas or Plantation 3* in my Daiquiris, I like those fruity, funky notes and the nice long finish they bring.

Theres definitely a lot more layers of complexity to something that is naturally sweet. Interesting to hear that the Bacardi 8 goes in that direction!

I think you're on point with the brandy feel it gives after lime is added! Its been a while since I tasted it but I wondered at the time if it might make a decent sidecar, with the lemon switched out for lime. Its definitely something that would dominate anything you tried to make with it though.

I think it's a bit like wine where you need to let oxygen get at it for a bit so it can open up completely on the nose and palette

My go to Rum really Nice flavour and taste for the price!! You should try the Diplomatico Ambassador if you haven´t, I have it only for celebrating purpose but my god it is nice

Sounds good as in cloudy means un-chill filtered so you will get it more or less straight from the barrow it was matured in. Is it a high volume rum ? .Don't think its my type of Rum ,I live in Scotland we have a few good rums but you have to search them out. I got a bottle of Plantation Pineapple Rum through the door today. Ordered it months ago so forgot all about it. Yummy hurry up the week end .

Sorry, drunk loads of this when visiting my wife's family in Mauritius. I know it's a inexpensive rum, but it is nowhere near as bad as you suggest here and it's very popular on the island. I prefer it to many Caribbean rums which I find almost smell of perfume. Goodwill had a clean taste and limited aroma (almost vodka like) - goes great in cocktails. And I know for a fact that it is the go to mixer rum for some very expensive tourist hotels in Mauritius - I know because my wife's cousins the head barman and beach manager in one of them (great job!). It's been used for years without complaint.

You should try out some more US rums. There not as great as other regions, but I recently had a bottle of Clever Fox Rum from San Diego and it was very unique.

Worthy Park 109 - For me is overly complex, full bodied rum, where a little goes a long way. It packs a punch. Rating it as a sipping rum from 1 to 10, I give it 4.5. Simply because I have tasted others more delicious and easier to drink rums. This rum overwhelms my palate with flavour. It is a rum that might come in handy if you have a fever. The effect after every sip is very festive, a party in your mouth, like spontaneous combustion of high octane fuel with a caramel, cherry and chocolate taste. I refuse to mix it, so it will take me a while to drink neat. A tablespoon of water made it easier for me. I must admit that exploring none Appleton rums is new to me. I will try other Worthy Parks but not sure I will revisit this.
