It just occurred to me, how similar the opening to 'the streets of San Francisco's and Hawaii five-O were. Both shows had incredible, catchy theme music and video shots. Wish shows like that, were still on the air.

Where was Barretta set…? I kinda get a NY/NJ vibe but the city is never identified. Somewhat like Hill Street Blues, you know it’s Chicago but it is never officially identified as such.

I absolutely loved this theme and loved both the original Avengers and the New Avengers. I was 10 yrs old back in 1976 and stayed up late to watch it. Always thought that Steed could kick James Bond's ass in both class and sheer wit. I'd say that Joanna Lumley as Purdey was the best but I can't cheat on Diana Rigg's Emma Peel!!

I noted sounds of _cuica_ (0:04 / 0:06 / 0:08 / 0:16 / 0:25 , etc ) a kinda of drum with a stick fastened into it and played rubbing it in longitudinal friction. Cuica maybe comes from Africa and arrived in Brazil brought by black slaved people. It's played in samba music, originally. The name is after Gray four-eyed opossum, frequent in northern part of South America and the instrument ressembles this animal pitched cry.
