Push down and twist the spigot clockwise a full turn.

What a terrible product design. Not buying this product again.
Adding that both my wife and I have followed these instructions. While it did work for the fabric softner, the laundry detergent bottle just spins and spins. Completely useless. About to take the sawsall to it.

Half turn didn’t do it. Try like 10 turns. I had to actually come here to see what I was doing wrong. Turns out (pun intended) I needed to twist it way more times. Frey laundry detergent bottle by the way.
Function was over till i opened it😅
